The following is from a chain email called THE QUOTE OF THE DECADE.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

It was so nice of him to give us this great quote for posterity — SO, USE IT!

Only 86% will send this on; It should be a 100%.

Please send it on if only to one person.

It’s true: attests to the authenticity of the quote. Then, of course, offers Obama’s excuse for his change of heart.  Supposedly, Obama now realizes raising the debt ceiling would be a disaster, but would it? What if Obama is lying?

Some say If Congress Doesn’t Raise the Debt Ceiling, Nothing Disastrous Will Happen. Why would Obama say otherwise?  Here is the reason. Obama does not want to just pay America’s bills. He wants to buy votes. Hence, somebody has introduced a bill.

Sen. Pat Toomey (R., Pa.) has introduced a bill designed to avert default by requiring the Treasury Department, if the debt limit hasn’t been raised, to prioritize the order that government bills are paid—giving precedence to interest payments, as well as to Social Security benefits and active-duty military pay. If there isn’t enough revenue on any given day to cover those priorities, Mr. Toomey’s bill also authorizes the Treasury Secretary to issue just enough additional debt to cover those costs.

That would take some of the sting out of the consequences of not raising the debt ceiling, Mr. Toomey said. (from here)

The Federal Government spends 4 trillion a year and borrows 40 percent of that money. Yet what does most of the news media want to talk about? The fact we are going broke? No. Instead of stopping runaway spending, the news media encourages us to give up our second amendment rights. For some reason we are suppose are suppose to give up our guns to the very same government we cannot trust to wisely spend our money.

Is It Okay To Be Angry?

Is it okay to be angry at the way the election turned out? I think so.

How Did We React?

Only the most naive do not believe God gets angry with bad conduct. Only those who refuse to believe that God is just do not believe in Hell. Therefore, when I consider how Republicans responded to the outcome of the 2012 election, I suspect our Lord will for the most part not find fault.

Some Pointed To The Continuing Threat To Our Rights

In Expecting Different Results, Keith DeHavelle observed something unique about President Barack Obama.

Obama is different — a break with the past in many respects. Legislation has failed to pass on a number of occasions, from Cap and Trade to the Dream Act to new EPA laws on carbon dioxide and energy to federal laws protecting our borders to welfare laws. In many cases, even Democrats would not support these changes in sufficient numbers.

Obama simply ignores the checks and balances of our Constitutional republic, and implements what he wants to do by fiat. He does not have the authority to do this; he is charged with upholding the law and is barred from circumventing it. (from here)

Some Observed The Affects On Our Military Personnel

nooneofanyimport spoke as a military spouse.

I am Milspouse.  The president is my husband’s boss.

This election, and every election, effects us all, yes.  Very yes.  The military is exhibit numero uno, and I’m not even talking about the budgetary effects (hello sequestration).  I’m talking about the effect on morale.

The effect is huge–beyond description, which is saying a lot for a gal who loves describing things.  I’ve seen it firsthand, the way morale swings on a dime–well, really on a change-of-command ceremony.

This effect on morale translates into a very immediate change for the NoOne family.  Today, we go from “maybe you can stay in for the long haul and shoot for that extra promotion” to “maybe you can get to the bare minimum and punch out.”

Maybe Hubs can get to the bare minimum–if his conscience, political correctness, and budget cuts don’t interfere.

Maybe. (from here)

Many Determinedly Dug In For The Fight

Some pointed to the president’s rabidly pro-abortion position.  Lyn Leahz posted ‘Surrender is not an option’: pro-life leaders react to Obama re-election.

James Atticus Bowden reacted first with bafflement and then with a bit of Scottish fortitude.

What Does The Bible Say?

Because they have only a partial knowledge of he Old Testament, many picture the God of the Old Testament as a wrathful Being. Because Jesus died for our sins, they think the God of the New Testament is different. Not true. God does not change.

These miss the point made by the Old Testament. Because God hates sin so much — because He requires justice —  if Jesus wanted to save us from ourselves, he had to die for our sins.

If we study the Old Testament a bit, what do we learn? We learn this. The Jews could not on their own make themselves worthy of salvation. Even though they had God’s Law, they could not escape the slavery of sin. Unless they repented, asked for God’s mercy, and put their faith in Him, they would slip into sin.

Ephesians 2:4-10 Good News Translation (GNT)

4 But God’s mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great, 5 that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience he brought us to life with Christ. It is by God’s grace that you have been saved. 6 In our union with Christ Jesus he raised us up with him to rule with him in the heavenly world. 7 He did this to demonstrate for all time to come the extraordinary greatness of his grace in the love he showed us in Christ Jesus. 8-9 For it is by God’s grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God’s gift, so that no one can boast about it. 10 God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do.

There is nothing wrong with hating sin. God hates sin. Just as a parent punishes their child for doing something dangerous, God punishes us when we sin.

In this last election, most of those who voted voted sinfully. They voted for a government that deliberately violates The Ten Commandments.

  1. They voted to make Government our God. They voted to make our Government the arbiter of what is right and what is wrong.
  2. They voted to make idols of isms such racism, multiculturalism, and environmentalism.
  3. As though it were a curse, they voted to ban the name of God from public discourse.
  4. They voted wrongly because they spend Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,… watching what passes for sports and entertainment on TV.
  5. They voted to let government usurp the power of parents to pass on to their children their religious heritage.
  6. They voted for a government that pays for abortions and encourages the old and the sick to kill themselves.
  7. They voted for a government that demands more respect for same-sex unions than it does for traditional marriage.
  8. They voted for a government that steals from its opponents what it needs to buy the support of special constituencies. They voted for a government that steals from the young to buy the votes of the old.
  9. They voted for politicians who have repeatedly violated their oath of office.
  10. They voted the way they voted because they covet what others earn.

Should we be angry with people who vote that way? If the people who founded this nation knew what we had done, don’t you think they would be angry?

This is the second post in a series.

America’s war over the culture is a political war.

  • On one side, there are those who would subjugate the People within a mass identity. They would have every moral decision decided by government officials using secular laws and regulations, the latest entertainment fads, and the political fashion of the day. In this world view, those who most loudly proclaim themselves as the majority demand conformity. Yet without a trace of irony, these same advocates would have us believe they are nonconformists.
  • On the other side, individuals apply their personal religious beliefs. Because they ask the following question, they are restrained by conscience.

Will it please God?

Who will win this culture war. To a large extent that depends upon how determined we are to understand, defend, and use our first amendment right to assemble and petition the government.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. (from here)

What follows is an August 10th email from Delegate Scott Lingamfelter. Here Lingamfelter describes a group of folks exercising their right to freedom of assembly.

Middle Resolution

The other night, I attended a meeting of an organization that has stepped up to make a difference for conservative values in Virginia and the Nation. They call themselves Middle Resolution,, and their vision is very straight forward:

“We envision the U.S. government and the Commonwealth of Virginia to be committed to the principle of individual rights upon which our nation was founded, upholding life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

And their measures of success are also clear:

  • Government that protects, rather than violates our individual rights.
  • A federal government which exudes the original intent of federalism.
  • Controlled spending and minimal regulatory control by federal and state governments.
  • A government of limited regulation and taxation.
  • Equal balance among the three branches of the U.S. government.

OK, who can argue with that. Most conservatives would say “I agree with it all”. But Middle Resolution is making a difference by providing significant support to conservative candidates who will be what they say they are, and do what they say they will, a creed of sorts that I have subscribed to for a long time. It’s a very simple formula with a refreshing twist: they hold the people they support accountable for their votes once they are elected. Imagine that, actually holding politicians accountable. It’s a breath of fresh air in my opinion.

But more importantly, Middle Resolution has committed to have a major impact in the 2012 elections. Under the leadership of one of their founders, Bob Bailie, who is a retired businessman of renown, they are fanning out across the Commonwealth to bring hundreds of thousands of conservative-minded folks to the polls. They see, as I do, that President Obama is the single biggest threat to constitutional freedom and free enterprise that has ever held the Presidency.

In what is a very compelling and detailed briefing, Bob Bailie makes the quintessential case for Obama’s defeat and the need to call conservatives to action, to awaken them to their duty to address the challenges of this nation, that if left unanswered, will change this nation for the worse, a nation conservatives will find unbearable.

He points to the huge debt we face, the dependency society that is actually out of control, unconstitutional excesses that threaten the heart of our freedom and the free enterprise system. And he paints a compelling picture for action to avoid a second Obama term that will destroy our healthcare system, create a society of takers, not contributors, and out of control spending that will make Greece look good by comparison. Consider this. The US debt already tops our GDP as a percentage of spending. And when you add in our failing Social Security and Medicaid programs, which are “off the books” in our Federal balance sheet, our real debt tops 500 percent.

How will we ever dig our way out of this by expanding spending on Obamacare to $1.76 trillion (and growing)? We won’t of course, unless we do as Bob Bailie is asking: get involved.

Well I am. Forget the 2013 Lt Governors’ race for now. The challenge is 2012. And a group like Middle Resolution is already taking action, which is why I am signed up to support their efforts. You should too. And here’s how you can tap into their energy.

First, go to their website and pledge your support.

Second, assemble a group, your Rotary Club, your GOP Committee, your Homeowners’ Association, any group that would benefit from hearing the truth, and ask Bob and his team to come to you and give this presentation. It is powerful.

Finally, agree to be one of their volunteers who will hit the streets to personally contact hundreds of thousands of people. This is not fiction, it’s what they are actively doing now and they need help.

So there you are. This is a great way to take action this year. Which reminds me of a saying my friend, the now deceased Walt Barbee (Founder of the Family Foundation of Virginia) use to say: “knowledge without action is useless”. Walt was right then and while Middle Resolution doesn’t say this in their literature, they act it out in their work today.

Contact them ( and get involved with them. Elections matter, folks, and citizens who take action make a difference. We can and must do no less.

On to Victory

In the wake of the destruction being created by The Establishment, many organizations such as The Middle Resolution have formed. If The Middle Resolution does not work for you, shop around and don’t neglect your local Republican Party committee. When you actively participate in an organization that actually nominates candidates for public office, you have the most influence on who will run our government institutions.

Think about this article. Look at what is going on across the Atlantic. Then ask yourself this question: On the balance, what has the welfare state done that we should want it?
