QUESTIONS FOR THE DAY — 5/16/2023

The Thinker in The Gates of Hell at the Musée Rodin (from The Thinker – Wikipedia)

Question 1

Why do some people believe that someone who doesn’t understand the difference between a man and a woman would make a good teacher?

Question 2

When so many politicians hate, distrust, and lie about their political opponents, why do some people think we should only trust government officials with guns?

Question 3

When opening our borders is an invitation to our enemies to destroy us — including foreign powers, terrorists, criminals, drug cartels, and human traffickers — why do some people think an open border is a good idea?

Any thoughts?

  1. 1. They understand the difference. I think it is not as straightforward as that. You should reframe the question.
    2. Everyone lies. Power corrupts. It’s not the people. Passing a law needs a lot of people to agree, which makes sure the state doesn’t turn into a dictatorship and doesn’t order the police to kill a lot of people. It’s difficult to pass a law for a reason.
    3. Open borders are not good if u have hostile neighbors.

    1. Thank you for your comment.

With respect to question 1. Do they understand the difference between a man and a woman? “They” is a large group of people. I doubt “they” all do, but I don’t doubt that some are prevaricating. The problem remains. The cannot properly teach.

With respect to question 2. Much of your response to that question is demonstrably incorrect. Does everyone lie? Everyone has lied, but some people strive to be honest. So, not everyone makes a practice of lying. Does power corrupt? Yes, and some leaders seek more power by corrupting the people. We risk that now. Is passing a law easier than you think? Does the difficulty of passing a law prevent dictatorship? Consider the French Reign of Terror, The Holocaust, the Communist purges in China, Russia, Cambodia, and so forth. Nobody even knows how many we have in this country. If all it takes to start a genocide is to pass a law, we are screwed.

With respect to question 3. Open borders are bad, period. The point of the question was to underline just how extreme the opposition to enforcing our borders has become. The sovereignty of a constitutional republic requires a people with a common identity. That people must be committed to making their constitution work. We have conniving leaders who want to overthrow our Constitution. These conniving leaders are importing millions of people who have no commitment either to our Constitution or to the citizens of the United States. Most illegal immigrants are just here for food, clothing, shelter, and other material things. Many cannot speak English, and they have no idea how this country is supposed to work, and the people who run our public school system don’t have any intention of helping them to assimilate.

  2. Tom,

Why, because we are fools to listen to fools.

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.(Proverb 18:2)

    Regards and goodwill blogging.

  3. I’ll take the low hanging fruit quest.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to be a ‘good’ teacher if one cannot differentiate the difference between a man and a woman, a male and a female.

Leave the Bible out if you want. Leave God out if you want.

A child of 3 will go into the correct bathroom based on whose image is on the door. These gender lunatics are bastards plain and simple.

  4. “Why do some people believe that someone who doesn’t understand the difference between a man and a woman would make a good teacher?”
Why do some people project their biases by asking such leading and morally biased questions? Why do some people stand in moral judgement over the actions of others as if they somehow know their Bible “better”?

“When so many politicians hate, distrust, and lie about their political opponents, why do some people think we should only trust government officials with guns?”
Why do so many people own guns because they don’t trust their neighbor? More to the point, why do so many people simply not trust their neighbor?

“When opening our borders is an invitation to our enemies to destroy us — including foreign powers, terrorists, criminals, drug cartels, and human traffickers — why do some people think an open border is a good idea?”
Why do some people simply accept the blatherings of those who “think” we have OPEN borders?

  5. Well, your questions are flawed Tom because they got the wrong presupposition going on. You said, “why do some people think…” They don’t! That simple. It’s a terribly unsatisfactory answer, but it’s the truth. Most people are simply emotionally driven to react and they lack the ability to see two steps ahead of themselves.

Our state government is currently debating whether or not it is sustainable to continue to defund the cops while decriminalizing meth and heroin.

  6. answer to all three… their stated aim and objective is destroy our country and install a “progressive” socialist regime where government is in total control. someone said in 2008 he wanted to “fundamentally transform” the united states. Well, some of us believed him. It started with the Clintons in ’92. What we have now is not a Presidential Administration. We have a Coup Regime.

    1. Some people take it back to Woodrow Wilson. Perhaps. I think what these people are doing is so self destructive and irrational that Satan has to be promoting and encouraging it.

      1. it may go back even further… just sayin’. a federal government that wages war against States that it says are still in the Union and can’t leave. Find the place in the constitution that says the United States is anything but a Voluntary Union of Free and Independent States. After that, you get the 14tyh amendment that changes the relationship of the Federal Government to the States from Servant to Master. reads like a ‘restructuring’ of government for a reason.then Wilson and the direct election of Senators, vs the Orginal by thr State Legislators. (there was a reason for the Original by the way. Do you know why it was?)
Yup. Goes way back. We are not the Country, the Republic that were were originally. they’ve been working hard for well over 100 yrs to make this happen. Clinton, Obama and now whoever the heck is pulling Biden’s Puppet strings… our involvement in “World Wars” and International conflicts ramped up with the introduction of “Progressivism” in america. look up Progressivism and it’s roots in america and you’ll find they’re just Socialists and Communists who had to go underground and change their image. in the early 1900’s. Wake up america. It’s why they work so hard trying to take your freedoms to self defense and determination.

        1. I don’t think the Civil War was unnecessary. I think it was made necessary by the people who insisted upon slavery.

Was what Lincoln did constitutional? The Constitution is unclear. However, when the South started firing on Federal troops, they started the war. From a political standpoint, that was actually quite stupid.

Try reading or listening to a reenactment of the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1852.

I received much of my education in Mississippi. As one might expect, the public school system in that state had its own ideas about the Civil War. So, listening to a reenactment of the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1852 was a real eyeopener.

Over the years I have learned something important about the study of history. If we want to understand the minds of the people of an era, then we have to read what the popular writers of that particular era were writing. Historians have their purpose, but they also have their biases.

I am not a fan of big government, but I don’t see much wrong with the constitutional amendments we associate with the Civil War. The problem is that we let Congress do things with those amendments that the text of the amendments do not supports.

The amendment were designed to stop state governments from doing things to infringe upon the rights of blacks. Congress too it upon itself to include private businesses The 16th and 17th amendments actually give the politicians much more power.
