When does the obvious become obvious? When does the obvious become self-evident? The sad thing is that we cannot agree upon such things. Here is a straightforward example. Does God exist?

What if we don’t believe that God exists? Then how do we define what rights we have as human beings? Who do we say endowed us with those rights? The most common answer among the godless is that the almighty state defines human rights, determines what rights we should have, and gives us those rights. Thus, the God-fearing and the godless cannot agree upon what constitutes human rights. Therefore, the God-fearing and the godless have almost totally differing ideas about that nature of good government.
How do the godless govern? The Biden administration would not call itself godless, but it is self-evident that the Biden administration is providing us a godless government. The officials in the Biden administration:
- Believe that government gives us our rights. Look at their latest foray into identity politics, Executive Order on Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through The Federal Government. Instead of rewarding people for their integrity and competence, the Biden administration is more determined to achieve equal outcomes based race and gender. Instead hiring and promoting people based upon who can do the work best, for example, the Biden administration wants to hire “experts” based upon poorly defined race and gender quotas designed to pit everyone against straight white men.
- Believe that their oath of office does not matter. The Constitution requires officials in the Executive branch of our government to enforce the law, but it has become blatantly obvious that the officials in the Biden administration care only about their agenda. The easiest way to prove that is to point to our southern border. After President Joe Biden assumed power, he immediately reversed the policies of the previous administration and encouraged illegal aliens to flood across our border. Well over five million illegal aliens have entered our nation since then. We can only guess how many of these people are criminals and terrorists. Can you imagine what will happen to our infrastructure, our power grid, for example, if a thousand terrorists start trying to destroy it?
- Believe our money is their money. The Biden administration has encouraged reckless spending. That includes misrepresenting what they are using our money to buy. The so-called Inflation Reduction Act, for example, actually wasted money on costly windmills, solar panels, and batteries all manufactured in Communist China. As the result of such idiotic legislation, we have run up our debt and experienced a high rate of inflation.
- Do not care about our people or anybody else except their cronies. Here are two glaring examples. 1. Our withdrawal from Afghanistan became a needless rout. Instead of trying to put the government of Afghanistan, the one we had helped to establish, in the strongest possible position before we withdrew from Afghanistan, we tried to sneak our troops out of the country. Biden ordered our troops to leave everyone who had relied upon us, including Americans and NATO allies, in a lurch, that is, in a vulnerable and unsupported position. This betrayal should have resulted in Biden’s immediate removal from office. 2. Because the Biden administration has refused to defend our southern border, drug runners have brought fentanyl (mostly manufactured in Communist China) into our nation in record amounts. Over 100,000 Americans are now dying from a drug overdose, and fentanyl is far and away the most common drug in drug overdoses.
Are there more examples? Yes, but why is it necessary to list them all? Would it do any good?
When our government becomes our enemy instead of our friend, that is an indictment of us. We risk losing our soul in Hell because we refuse to trust and obey God. It says we have not been teaching the Gospel to our children. It says we are not teaching the Gospel to our children. It says we have not been teaching our children to love God above all else and each other as much as they love their self.
Like it or not, the people in the Biden administration don’t seem to be working in the best interests the American people. At this point, after two years of power grabs, crony politics, coverups, lies, blame shifting and gross incompetence, that should be self-evident, but the Democratic Party won’t throw Joe Biden in jail where he belongs. So, we are stuck with rotten and corrupt leadership.
What can we do? Well, at this point we must refuse to be silenced. We must remember why most of the people who voted for Democrats voted for them. They believed the lies that have been fed by our government-run education system and a news media that is mostly run by crony capitalists. We must strive to overcome the lies with the truth, and that is getting easier. Why? The failures of the Biden administration are becoming more and more difficult to hide. As people become more desperate, we must be ready with the truth about God. He exists, and the Bible is His word.

Since Paine believed in the obvious, that God does exist, I seriously doubt that you would take your hat off to him.
Did Paine truly think nothing of Christianity? I suspect not. In his most famous and significant work, Paine quoted the Bible (see => https://citizentom.com/2007/07/27/one-of-the-sins-of-the-jews/).
Why did Paine dislike Christianity? Well, he stated his objections in “The Age of Reason,” of which you quoted a small portion. Let just add the sentence that follows what you quoted.
Christian theology is very organized. Any serious study the Bible reveals that, but science does not provide the tools to study God. that is why Philosophy is the handmaiden of Theology, not science. Unfortunately, as brilliant as he was, Paine did not understand that. He probably did not want to understand why God could not be studied scientifically.

The word epiphany describes what happens when someone suddenly realizes that God must exist. When we realize that Jesus is His Son, we have a second epiphany, and all a sudden much that made no sense does make sense.

I wholeheartedly agree with your summary of the awful state of statism . I listened to a lecture on economic fascism today . It was very depressing except that it ended with a solution: pull your money out of work mutual funds and invest in freedom instead. If everyone did this , Blackrock and the elite corporate fascists and bankers wouldn’t have the power that it needs to finish building the digital prison that will eliminate free markets and freedom. We must fight back now or soon it will be too late.
