WHY ARE WE GIVING UP WITHOUT A STRUGGLE?

Many Americans grew up with the idea that America was the world’s last best hope. There is, unfortunately, a problem that comes with having such a grandiose vision of our country. Once we have convinced ourselves that we are such an important influence in the world it is not that difficult to convince ourselves that we are also responsible for all the world’s problems. Neither extreme, of course, comes close to the truth.

What is the only hope this world? God. As important as the United States may be, we don’t amount to anything when we compare ourselves to our Lord God. We may be able to mass produce soft drinks, land men on the moon, and destroy a city with a single bomb, but what is any of that when compared to what our Lord God can do? Can our government create something from nothing, speak a universe into existence?

Still, God expects us to do what we can do. He expects us to resist evil, to stand against the works of the Devil (Ephesians 6:10-18), and we are not doing that.

Consider what we are doing in the United States.

  • We are allowing crime rates to increase. We are actually defunding our police. Our public officials have even accused our police forces of racism.
  • We have opened our borders to terrorists, drug runners, human traffickers, and criminals of all sorts.
  • We have let our public officials further disrespect for the sanctity of life by teaching our children vile lies about religion and sex and race and history and science and so forth.
  • We have let our own government maneuver to destroy our economy — our ability to feed, cloth, and shelter ourselves — in the name of radical environmentalism.

Throughout the world each nation is facing its own problems. The worst of these are nations determined to conquer other countries.

  • China is ruled by Communists, Communists determined to enslave the people of that country as much as possible. So, instead of ending the COVID lockdowns, the Chinese government is using the lockdowns to intimidate the Chinese people into complete and utter obedience. Of course, no one wants to be locked in their homes. So, even though most have been cowed, some people in China have protested, but for how long can they continue?
  • Russia is ruled by a would-be Tzar. Unfortunately for this Tzar, he has not succeeded in competently teaching his military forces how to fight. Moreover, the people of Russia have little desire to fight the people of nation he wants to conquer. So, even though most have been cowed, some people in Russia have protested, but for how long can they continue?
  • Iran is ruled by radical Muslim fanatics determined to spread their brutal brand of Islam by force. Many of the people of Iran detest the teaching of these fanatics, and they don’t want to live under their rule. So, even though most have been cowed, some people in Iran have protested, but for how long can they continue?
  • North Korea is ruled by a regime that very much resembles the worst of what Joseph Stalin did when he ruled Russia. The crackpot leader who rules North Korea is determined to intimidate neighboring states with nuke-tipped missiles, probably for the sake of tribute. Has anyone resisted his rule? In that half-starved police state? Who knows?

Meanwhile, what is the United States doing? Nothing. We are not resisting these evil regimes. Instead, our great and glorious and doddering leader seems determine to enable them.

In all likelihood we have elected too many leaders who admire the rulers of totalitarian states and want to imitate them. In fact, some of our leaders may even be on the take from some of the rulers of these totalitarian states, but most of our news media willfully ignores whatever information might drive us to such a conclusion. In addition, Big Tech suppresses any information that might alarm us to the fact we should not trust our leaders, Liberal Democrats in particular.

What can we do? Is our problem the dishonesty of the news media? For the most part, no. Our problem is what we have been taught to believe. We each operate with a view of the world that we take for granted. When we were growing up, the politicians who run public education had a conflict of interest. They allowed their donors to teach us too many things that are’t so.

It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.

A Time for Choosing Speech, October 27, 1964 | Ronald Reagan (reaganlibrary.gov)

What is the solution?

We must question our assumptions. We must set aside our pride and seek the truth. We must stop reading what academics would have us believe; we must forsake secondary sources and go to the primary sources. We must read what the founders of this nation wrote, and we must read what they read.

Is it reasonable to question our assumptions? Yes. Most of us have been educated in government-run — politician run — schools.

  • Almost nobody trusts politicians. Too many politicians will say almost anything to get elected.
  • Politicians say transparently absurd things. For example, we are to believe Socialism is a good idea. We can trust our government to spend our money. Yet they point to President Donald Trump as the most horrible of villains. We can trust the government, but we cannot trust Republicans? How does that make any sense?
  • Politicians would have us believe things our parents and grandparents would have found highly objectionable. For example, calling upon us to trust the science politicians would have us believe that we can choose our gender. Note that sex and gender use to be synonyms. Now sex is a biological concept and gender is a social construct. That is, our gender choice has nothing to do with science. What people have done is change the meaning of the word “gender.” When we do something like that to win an argument, we have committed a logical fallacy.
  • The generation in power today once esteemed those who called upon us to “question authority.” Now these people insist upon conformity with their demands. What does it mean to “question authority”? When we question authority, we carefully examine what those in authority have taught us. Our object must be to discern the truth.
  • Politicians would have us believe that we are smarter than the people of previous generations, that our choices are superior because we are more modern. However, although our moral choices may require us to understand scientific issues, the rules of logic and morality have not changed very much for a long time. That is, if someone who was wise a two thousand years ago was brought forward in time to our time, that someone would still be wise, and we would still do well to listen to them.

Those who run public education have little use for the Bible. Yet the people who founded the United States held the Bible in high regard. Those people created a great nation, and they believed in the providence of God and thanked Him for their success. That is why we still celebrate Thanksgiving Day. We stand upon the shoulders of their success. If we are to do well, we must understand how they succeeded.

One final observation. We gain nothing by standing aside and letting others do all the work and assume all the risks. If we lack the courage to defend our freedom and fight for our liberty, we will lose it. If to save our lives and avoid the torment that comes with struggle, we do nothing and surrender to those who would enslave us, we will condemn ourselves, our family, our friends, and our neighbors to slavery. When we voluntarily submit to slavery, that is a suicide of the soul.

  1. Tom, yet again, you have provided us with another very well-written, thought-provoking piece!

Knowing that God has all things in His control and that nothing happens apart from His notice, should be the remedy for any worry we might have about the current state of our world, however, sometimes that doesn’t seem to be enough.

But then I’m reminded of the Psalm of Asaph (Psalm 73) where he writes:

Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart!
But as for me, my feet came close to stumbling, my steps had almost slipped.
For I was envious of the arrogant as I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
For there are no pains in their death, and their body is fat.
They are not in trouble as other men, nor are they plagued like mankind.
Therefore pride is their necklace; the garment of violence covers them.
Their eye bulges from fatness; the imaginations of their heart run riot.
They mock and wickedly speak of oppression; they speak from on high.
They have set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue parades through the earth.
Therefore his people return to this place, and waters of abundance are drunk by them.
They say, “How does God know? and is there knowledge with the Most High?”
Behold, these are the wicked; and always at ease, they have increased in wealth.

    Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and washed my hands in innocence;
For I have been stricken all day long and chastened every morning.

If I had said, “I will speak thus,” behold, I would have betrayed the generation of Your children.
When I pondered to understand this, it was troublesome in my sight
Until I came into the sanctuary of God; then I perceived their end.
Surely You set them in slippery places; you cast them down to destruction.
How they are destroyed in a moment! They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors!
Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when aroused, You will despise their form.

When my heart was embittered and I was pierced within,
Then I was senseless and ignorant; I was like a beast before You.
Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.
With Your counsel You will guide me, and afterward receive me to glory.

Whom have I in heaven but You? and besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
    For, behold, those who are far from You will perish;
You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.
But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge,
That I may tell of all Your works.

    God’s got this!

    1. The curious thing about that psalm is the author never explains just how he knows that in the end the wicked lose everything. He comes into the sanctuary. He prays. Then he knows because what he already knew begins to make sense.

  2. I don’t think that we’re giving up without a struggle; I do believe though that until 2020, most of us actually believed that we were a majority. We don’t have the numbers, organization, or resources to stop the Long March of the NWO types.

These ‘Great Reset’ people are a greater threat—not only to our country but to Western Civilization—than extremist Islam was. You list Russia, China, Iran as ‘enemies’ of America, yet they were the ones primarily responsible for the defeat of Al-Qaeda and ISIS. At the same time, our ‘government’ and its colonies (or, ‘allies’ as the MSM calls them) were covertly aiding these terrorist groups. Right now, they’re chastising the Great Reset crowd in Ukraine, Taiwan, and the South China Sea.

Like it or not, these growing Asian powers DO have the numbers, organization, and resources to put down the globalist oligarchy. I don’t see them as enemies because we’re fighting for the same purpose and we may in the future welcome them as liberators.

    1. We actually had the majority in the midterm election. The more the people in office foul up the more that majority will grow. The real problem is that we keep electing Republicans who are not on our side. The real problem is whether we can throw out our traitorous leaders before they destroy us.

The role of Russia, China, and Iran in the defeat of Al-Qaeda and ISIS doesn’t impress. The nation that latter became the USSR had a major role in defeating Nazi Germany, but both Germany and Russia were highly dangerous enemies. The fact that Germany turned on Russia just made it possible to defeat those two enemies one at a time.

As the saying goes, “there is no honor among thieves.” Thank the Lord.

I guess the “Great Reset people” are America’s elites, especially our financial elites. I don’t think China is chastising those people. I think China is buying them off. I fear the people who lead us are both blind to their own corruption and to the dangers of their ravenous greed.

What astonishes me is the scope of the corruption. It illustrates too well what the Bible says in Romans 1 starting at verse 18.

So, will China, Russian, and Iran put down the globalist oligarchy? Will they liberate us? No. The leaders of those countries are just seeking dominion, including domination of any such oligarchy. Like as not Biden is already doing their bidding, and he has been doing it for years.

Our hope is in God, not man. As we grow weaker, the “Great Reset people,” the Chinese Communists, Putin and his oligarchs, and Iran’s mullahs will grow emboldened. Perhaps they will turn on each other. I don’t know. I just know the signs of the times promise pain and suffering in abundance.

      1. The organization known as BRICS do portray themselves as an antidote to degenerate Western Liberalism, and it looks like Iran and Turkey will probably join, and maybe Argentina within the next year. The problem, as you pointed out, is whether they really can work together or not. Russia is the only one of them I think that grasps the real problem is actually fighting to save Western Civilization. But Russia is in a position where it can’t go it alone. China and India don’t have much respect for those values but they do fear the NWO psychopaths.

As for us liberating ourselves, I don’t see it happening. The majority of Americans seem content to pretend that they don’t know what’s going on and are more interested in ‘looking out for #1’ regardless of the cost to the country.

        1. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn probably understood the problem faced by Western Civilization, but does Vladimir Putin? I don’t think so, but I suppose anything is possible.

What about looking out for #1. The problem here, I think is how we look out for #1 when it comes to voting.

An America First policy makes sense. That really is the job of our government. Our government is supposed to protect our God-given rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

That doesn’t mean we have to undermine other countries. Creating instability around the world is not in our best interest. When everyone succeeds, everyone is better off.

However, charity is a personal activity, not a government activity. Government charity is an oxymoron. There is nothing charitable about giving away other people’s money.

Are there exception? Yeah. In an emergency, it makes perfectly good sense, for example, to use our military forces to rescue people.

Unfortunately, lots of Americans vote for government handouts, and politicians usually use government charity to buy votes. Anyone who will buy your vote will sell his/her vote.

  3. Tom

Trust and why are the root of what we are witnessing ofpall the folly occurring in your post.

In other words we are making the same repeat mistakes King Solomon made to believe who to trust which he finally dicernerned when he wrote thie verse.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understandig.

    Regards and goodwill blogging

  4. I think the problem is that God gives countries the leaders they ask for . When America turned government into an idol, God said okay , if that’s what you want. Nothing will change unless the people turn back to God. I don’t see it happening , but you never know. 🙏

    1. I have no idea what will happen. I just mourn what is being so needlessly lost. At least the loss seems needless. All that happens happens within the will of God. So, there must be some need for what is happening.
