It may not seem like it at first, but artaxes latest blog posts are very much related to my own last two blog posts.
Contemplate again that first question.
Question 1
When it is obvious you angrily distrust about half of our political leadership, why do you trust our leadership with the power to run a Socialist state?
Why would Liberal Democrat voters trust our political leadership enough to give it so much power? The answer, I think, is that that is what they have been taught to do. Unlike Conservatives, Liberal Democrat don’t believe their leaders are subject to the temptations of power. They may believe Conservative Republican leaders are evil, but they don’t think Liberal Democrat Leaders are evil. Conservatives, on the other hand, know that men cannot be trusted with great power. We are too easily tempted. So, we don’t want to trust our political leadership — any of our leaders — with more power than necessary.
Why do Liberal Democrats trust their leaders? Most of our educational establishment is now dominated by Liberal Democrats. Doesn’t that seem odd? Professors are smart people, right? However, intelligence is not the same thing as wisdom, and our schools don’t teach wisdom. That leaves the best students especially vulnerable. The best students are the most likely to believe and trust their teachers, and college professors got to be college professors by being good students. Unfortunately, knowledge without wisdom is dangerous. Therefore, our educational establishment is full of people teaching dangerous — even evil — beliefs and ideas.
So, watch and listen to that video that artaxes posted, “Why I Changed My Mind About Evil! (I Was WRONG),” and pay attention to JP’s observation that when we do evil we probably won’t recognize that we are being controlled by Satan. We may not even realize that we are doing something wrong.
Wisdom, knowing the difference between good and evil, is something we have to learn. In fact, we must ask for wisdom.
James 1:5 New American Standard Bible
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
What about https://artaxes.wordpress.com/2022/08/12/the-worst-dictator-ever-donald-trump/? How is that related? Just like Conservatives, Liberal Democrats have the opportunity to continue learning after they leave high school and/or college. Here the mass media takes over the process of indoctrination. If you doubt that then you have yet to realize the scale of the massive lies the mass media peddled about Donald Trump.
Observe this example from https://artaxes.wordpress.com/2022/08/12/the-worst-dictator-ever-donald-trump/. The mass media constantly tells us guns are bad, and everyone except the military and the police needs to be disarmed. Supposedly, if they deprive us of the right to defend ourselves from the abusive use of power, Liberal Democrat politicians will be doing us a big favor, but Donald Trump did not believe them. So, they hate him. They hate him for that and for denying them the power they want.
What about https://artaxes.wordpress.com/2022/08/23/crocodile-dumbdee-strikes-again/? In that post artaxes deals with the comments that an Atheist made on “About Evil.”
JP is known for his funny videos and his political satire. He is no theologian but he gives a very useful working definition of evil. He gives also very good advice on how to recognize eivil and how to deal with it. Although not theologically accurate on some points, this video is much more useful than the stuff that comes from many theologians.
Thanks for the reblog and for the links-
My pleasure. Hope you found my take on your posts agreeable.
If I understood you correctly the common thread is deception (propaganda, indoctrination etc) which is an answer to your question to liberal Democrats. In sklyid’s case it’s the objection to JP’s definition of evil because it exposes the left’s deception as evil.
I think the way sklyjd sees it is that that definition is being used to define him as evil.
Communication is actually a fairly complicated problem.
Speaker. When I say something to you, if I want you to understand my meaning, I have figure out how to say what I want to say so that you will understand me. I have to speak clearly. I have to use appropriate gestures. I have to use the right tone. And so forth.
Medium.Am I standing in front of you on a calm day in a quiet place or are we talking on the phone over a noisy circuit.
Hearer. What you hear depends upon the context you provide. That includes your health, capacities, education, and expectations. There is simply no guarantee you will understand what I say no matter how well I say it.
Because Liberal Democrats have been educated in the public schools and indoctrinated by the mass media for decades, they have difficulty receiving the Conservative message. They think we are nutcases. They think we are brainwashed. They think we are lying and stupid. That’s why H. Clinton when called us deplorables they did not disagree.
When people think ill of you, it is difficult to get them to listen, and that is why the news media constantly hates on Conservatives. They don’t want anyone, especially Liberal Democrats, to take our message seriously.
“I think the way sklyjd sees it is that that definition is being used to define him as evil”
I guess, you’re right. No one likes to be called evil. That shouldn’t stop us from calling good good and evil evil.
No. We have to call good good and evil evil, and the truth will hurt. God — Jesus in the flesh — is full of both truth and grace. To the extent we know how, we must state the truth to each other so that it come across that we care about each other.
Amen
BTW. I do an awful job of that.
Hi Tom. Quick question, if I may. Is your blog mostly about politics and how Christianity applies to it and vice versa?
My blog is about politics and religion. However, there is no vice versa. Our religious beliefs either drive our political beliefs or our political beliefs are our religion.
