An urban heat island (UHI) is an urban or metropolitan area that is significantly warmer than its surrounding rural areas due to human activities. The temperature difference is usually larger at night than during the day, and is most apparent when winds are weak. UHI is most noticeable during the summer and winter. The main cause of the UHI effect is from the modification of land surfaces. Waste heat generated by energy usage is a secondary contributor. As a population center grows, it tends to expand its area and increase its average temperature. The term heat island is also used; the term can be used to refer to any area that is relatively hotter than the surrounding, but generally refers to human-disturbed areas

What sort of modification of land surfaces contribute to heat islands? Well, that has much to do with asphalt and cement and the removal of trees and other sorts of foliage. So, how does so-called mainstream news media treat heat islands? Here is an example.

What is the point of the USA Today “news” article? Heat islands are racist and artifacts of global warming.
Are heat islands racist? No. Because poor people cannot afford to spend much on housing, they tend to live in areas where wealthier people don’t want to live, and most people don’t want to live in intracity neighborhoods, but poor blacks and immigrants have little choice. Because most such areas are run by incompetent and dishonest Democrats, instead of fixing the problem the so-called mainstream news media fixes the blame on supposedly racist Republicans. Instead of helping blacks and the other people who live in intracity areas, Democrat politicians just keep those they rule ignorant, poor, dependent, and gullible.
Do heat islands have anything to do with global warming? No. Global warming, assuming that it is a real problem, is the result of the production of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide. Heat islands result from urban sprawl: the destruction of green foliage and huge areas covered with asphalt and concrete. We are more likely to confuse the localized warming produced by heat islands with global warming than global warming is likely to worsen the affects produced by heat islands.
Can we fix heat islands? With Democrats in charge? No. So long as Democrats are in charge, we will just hear more and more about racist Republicans and the need to spend humongous sums on global warming boondoggles.
We have known about urban heat islands for decades. Unfortunately, our political elites don’t care. Urban heat islands do not affect them. Either they have air conditioning, or they don’t live in a heat island. So, they don’t want to deal with the costs and headaches of fixing heat islands. Instead, they just want to fix the blame.
Contemplate the fact Democrats don’t care. Then consider the favorite issue of the moment, abortion and their desire to pack the Supreme Court with Liberal Democrat judges. Why do Democrats so love abortion? That is because nonwhites terminate their pregnancies — abort their babies — with much greater frequency than whites.

Abortion is something that affects the poor, not our political elites. In fact, Liberal Democrat whites want nonwhites to abort their babies. Plan Parenthood was established by a racist, and Planned Parenthood is a core Democrat Party constituency.

Interesting subject to think about how much hotter it will be in the cities when the power grids fails and we are have become even more dependent on EV vehicles.
In ancient times there were no high rises apartments or office buildings or air conditioners to accommodate millions of people in urban areas.
And most of the world history of recorded extinctions where the result of earth overheating when animals ate up vegetation that helped cool the earth.
As for the Democrats support of r abortions mainly by the poor unmarried women, add the Democrats support for marijuana and control of schools to indoctrinate their liberal r planned agenda.
Their agenda is a simple plan to obtain votes. Keep their voters poor and drugged and grateful to Democrats welfare plans while at the same time allow open borders to obtain more voterss to replace the children aborted by poor Americans.

Without electricity, it won’t be possible to live in the cities. If the grid fails, I don’t know how long the collapse will take. Will there be time to adapt? Is adaptation possible?
What I most fear is that our leadership has been bought and they are deliberately wrecking our country. In that case they may be trying to ruin as much as they can as fast as they can, and that is what it looks like.

The 1977 New York blackout occurred in July and the ironic result was a lot of babies were born or aborted within nine months after the blackout.
It will surely happen again in the future if our leaders do not make long range plans to rewire city circuits to prevent mass future power blackouts.
I wrote a post today to include my opinion about the upcoming Illinois election candidates for Governor.
I like the Republican candidate but doubt he will win because Illinois is a pinnacle of what occurs when Democrats are in power. Highest taxes and biggest State debt along with the highest number of State governing bodies in the Nation.
The present Illinois governor even helped with adds to steer his Republican to win the primary because he knows how dependent Democrats have become because of liberal welfare or State job benefits the Democrats have become dependent upon.

Big cities have been around ancient the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. The solution to urban heat islands is a stiff breeze. Maybe the mayors of New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles could direct the construction of huge solar powered mega fans that would blow their hot air off shore.
Sorry. That won’t work.The hot air from politicians would overwhelm the capacity of any such fan.
I think you have stated clearly, the real cause of global warming. Maybe Elon Musk can transport the bloviating political class into orbit on some of his space ships.
