Defenestration | Definition of Defenestration by Merriam-Webster
Amazingly, sometimes people survive execution or assassination by defenestration. More often than not, defenestration is lethal. Because defenestration is so violent, however, when Protestants defenestrated high Catholic officials, that did upset some people. So, that act is often pointed to the beginning of The Thirty Years’ War
What was The Thirty Years’ War? It was a period of intense warfare starting in 1618 that began over the religious conflicts between Protestants and the Roman Catholic Church. The Thirty Years’ War was not even a single war, and it was not the…

Tom,
Great post. However, I wonder if using the word “fight” might not be the most appropriate to use for the issue of school choice and school voucher.
For example, if we consider how, any liberal politicians used the word fight and then tried crucified Trump for the Jan 6 Congress.
In my opinion, better to use wise up instead of fight because also in my opinion the religious wars were in essence caused by the same motivations of most wars’ motivations. Lack of truth, understanding and knowledge leads to folly same as fear for vanity, and just plain evil.
I remember my Baptist neighbor who confessed that what she was taught as a child in school in the deep South that Roman Catholics were devils. Over time we both come to understand your statement that is spot on to erase what was taught to her as a child.
“As moderns, we tend to regard the people who proceeded us as ignorant and foolish. As Americans we tend to regard religious wars with disdain, and that is odd.”
Teach discipline and religious morals as taught in the Bible will lead to wisdom and love instead of wars, vanity, and folly.
Regards and goodwill blogging.

Why did I choose the word “fight”? We are in a battle. People are being beaten up and killed. Peoples rights to free speech are being suppressed. A our battle within our nation grows more severe, we risk various forms of intervention by foreign powers. COVID-19 was probably accidentally released from a Chinese germ warfare lab, but we know for a fact that the CCP deliberately spread it to the rest of the world. Russia is launching cyber attacks against us.
Why are we so vulnerable? Previous generations of Americans did not properly raise their children in their Christian beliefs. So, the generations living today don’t have the wisdom to discern the Truth. We don’t have the wisdom to understand how to love, how to be just to other, why it is important to tell the truth, and why God must exist. When we are so lacking in wisdom — so lost — we risk the salvation that matters.
Note also that the current conflict is between Christianity and Paganism, not between Christians. Given the nature of Paganism, fight is the appropriate word.
“Defenestration,” sure puts a whole new spin on being deplatformed and canceled, doesn’t it?
Good post, Tom. I generally have an opinion about everything and anything, but the nature of war and the philosophical and moral conundrums is above my pay grade. That said, I totally relate to Peter who decided to just lop off a man’s ear and call it good.
I suppose kids have always been targets of the culture, but my youngest is now in her 20s, and I have really noticed a huge shift, now a concerted and focused direct attack on our kids. I hope people wake up and I hope they fight back.

My personal opinion, and I think it common these days, is that faith is something God gives us. We can beat and torture someone, but that is not going to bring them to Jesus.
That said, God has given us a role. We can see that children who are raised as Christians behave like Christians. We can also see that children who are raised as Pagans behave like Pagans. Therefore, there is something to fight about, but fighting is not good for anyone. What is best is a free and open society, one where we are each allowed to choose, but that compromise does not usually satisfy Pagans.
