Since we traditionally base our moral code on Biblical teachings, the Bible is more central to Western Civilization. However, Secularists eliminated the Bible from the curriculum long ago, long before we heard of the expression, “cancel culture.”
Why do the Secularists and other haters of Western Civilization want to eliminate Shakespeare’s works from the school curriculum? Why expand the cancelation of the Bible to all the literature that we associate with Western Civilization? That is because the literature of Western Civilization alludes to the…

Allow me to be a bit mischievous. I’m curious. Who here has read or seen one of Shakespear’s plays outside of school / university? If any, about how long ago?
@marmoewp
Think about the nature of your question. If someone becomes familiar with Shakespeare’s plays in highschool, they won’t spend a lot of time listening to the same plays again until they grow older.. However, they will understand allusions to those plays in other works and in common speech.
Note that there is a tourist spot in Stauton, VA that has a theater dictated to Shakespeare. I would visit more than I have, but my lady hates to travel.
When I was growing up, there was a bunch of movies based upon Shakespeare. Our education system is not what it use to be. Does take some effort to understand the Old English, but much like the King James Bible, Shakespeare’s plays were beautifully written.

Tom,
will they also cancel the great Alexandre Dumas?
What do you think?
He was of mixed race.
Anyway, cancelling Shakespeare has nothing to do with his whiteness or white supremacy but with the desire to destroy western civilization.
Proof? Karl Marx was white and he had pretty racist and antisemitic views and yet the woke cultural Taliban won’t cancel him because they are fellow travellers.
@artaxes
I agree.
There are plenty of people in the Democratic Party, including our current president, who espouse racist view. Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality are racist ideological concepts, and Democrats want to indoctrinate in these concepts.
What Liberal Democrats want is control,. So, they seize upon our divisions to conquer us.
Tom,
Spot on,
School Choice is the wise path to end this folly of cancel this, or cancel that Socialism mentality now taking place in the USA, in my opinion.
Parents need to return to have agency and choose what is the straight path in life for their children to follow based on their religious beliefs and values rather than the government fools who believe they know better.
Even now, they either don’t know what they are proposing and doing is repeating the same folly as previous generations. Or, they have never been taught how to understand the best’ compass’ in life, the Bible.
When you cancel what actually occurred, or the truth of mistakes made in the past, we open a door of opportunity for a repeat opportunity for the same mistakes to occur again because w, we humans still cannot seem to wise up to the truth of the warning of King Solomon prediction of 3000 years ago recorded in the Bible.
What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.(Ecclesiastes 1:9)
