I have a habit of arguing my political positions, and that is what this blog is about. When someone wants to refute my arguments, I just invite them to do so. That is what free speech is about.
Why do we need free speech? Let’s use President Donald Trump’s assertion that the 2020 election was stolen as an example. Let’s say Trump is right, that the election was stolen. If Trump’s opponents can call claiming the election was stolen equivalent to inciting an insurrection, what is he supposed to do about it? That is how stupid this second impeachment trial has become.
You want to debate me about that? Seriously? That is the problem. Some of you are so full of hatred for anyone who disagrees with you that you are serious.
Consider the folks who attacked the Capitol Building. Why did they do that? Were they responding to hatred? From whom? The Conservative news media? Too small to amount to anything. Moreover, the most respected Conservatives make factual, not emotional arguments. On the other hand House Impeachment Managers made a thoroughly emotional case for impeachment, and the so-called mainstream news media has happily repeated it. Isn’t inflaming our emotions what incitement to riot is all about?

Thank you!
Sometimes it really feels as if we are just trapped in a narcissist’s funhouse hall of mirrors, Tom. That is where every reflection they see is simply a distortion of their own. This impeachment trial is the impeachment of at minimum, 75 million Americans who voted for Trump and who continue to support him. It also serves no genuine legal purpose, so the only purpose remaining is to play politics and to attempt to incite an insurrection. We’re in a lot of trouble in this country, a good chunk of people now believe our elections are rigged, our leaders are corrupt, and congress isn’t even worth the 13% approval rating we give them. When we lose trust in our institutions, when law and order no longer seems just, the moral authority of those things vanishes.

Tom,
I watched the Trump defense presentation today, at first in amazement and then had a hardy laugh at the video presentation of Democrat leaders using the word fight which they are accusing Trump of using to “incite the insurrection.”

Will check it out tomorrow. I suspect Trump was pleased with his lawyers today.
Tom I have read most of the unending and never ending narrowly focused support you have for your leader and the way you flip the truth upside down.
First of all, you assume the whole lot of American officials at voting booths were crooked Democrats and that Donald Trump knew something nobody else did that made him call the election stolen, just like he had done to other elections in the past. Did you not ask yourself could Trump be lying and what does he really know about it?
For massive voter fraud claimed in so many states it would mean thousands of honest people and election officials would have to have been involved and for all the court cases to fail especially when Republican judges also disagreed with him must tell you something other than everyone involved was committing fraud including the countries judges if you apply some clear headed logic and the obvious facts.
I believe you are also trying to flip the hate accusation. Did you not see and hear the hateful comments of the Trump supporters during the riot? They were responding to their president; some I believe have admitted this on media.
Can you blame people for emotional arguments after being at the mercy of a mob, I bet you would be exactly the same. Inflamed emotions are what we all endure at many times, it is just that most of us can keep them under control. Of course, mob mentality is like a virus and drives people totally out of control Democrats as well as Republicans, we are all the same.
@sklyjd
You are all over the place. When we are emotional and illogical, we tend to contradict ourselves when we are all over the place.
Consider your last paragraph. Can I blame people for emotional argument? Yep! They are supposed to follow the Constitution. Because Democrats have been so determined to win, they have been emotional for years. They have not been following the Constitution for years.
During the last impeachment trial, they denied Trump constitutional due process, and their ridiculous charge requires a definition of incitement that would deny him his First Amendment right of free speech.
Given the changes Democratic Party pushed in our election laws without the approval of state legislatures, I have good reason to the people responsible oath breakers. They disregarded the Constitution, and they knew it. Every one of our officials swears an oath to support and defend the Constitution.
Once again, we the American people are left holding the bill— I’m thinking this might be a case of tax payer’s double jeopardy—we had to pay for the first circus and now they’re trying to make us pay for circus number two 😑
I say enough!
Is it just me…I’m getting the feeling this lynch mob’s mania is hoping to not only cut off their perceived snake’s head but they want to them chop up, grind and stomp what remains—- 😡
@Julie
Just remember they are after us too. So, to paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, we must either hang together or hanged separately.
I say victory rests in our togetherness
Victory? I think that is a delusion if you can exclusively rule the country with your extreme right ideologies. The only way to rule is togetherness as you say, not us and the political enemy kind of separatist attitude but a bit of tolerance from both parties would not go amiss. That would actually be a bit more Christian orientated would it not?
