I was at the Rally for Trump yesterday. I listened to President Donald Trump speak. He did not call for violence. He called for a peaceful protest. You don’t believe me? Well, don’t worry. Big Tech is now fully censoring Trump. So I have no proof. That is how it works, don’t you know?

No. It is not easy for us human beings to get along with each other. We always want things from each other we have no right to demand. That is why we need a government. Unfortunately, those too clever will try to use the power of government to get what they want.
Whatever else Trump is guilty of, he has not been either stupid or silly enough to actually propose destroying our Constitution in order to save it. We can be that silly. Remember what President George W. Bush said during the Great Recession.

Abandoning our principles is a kind of strange way to save them.
Why did I attend the rally? Did I expect Congress to reverse course and approve the reelection of President Trump? No. I just hoped being there, adding my small voice to that of so many others, would help to bring our leaders and our people to their senses. If not today, then perhaps tomorrow.
Why do we need to bring our leaders and our people to their senses? Why have so many of our leaders abandoned their principles, assuming they ever had them? Many of our leaders think they, not God, give us our rights. Many of our leaders think we should live under their rule, not the rule of law, and many of our people have been taught to agree.
Because republics depend upon the willingness of leaders and the people they rule to humble themselves and submit to the rule of law, republics are rare and precious. Because we are prideful, rarely do leaders and their followers submit to the rule of law. Therefore, in our era we have been extremely blessed. We have more governments that respect the will of the people than in any other time in human history. Still, most, the vast majority of mankind, lives under tyrannical rule. In fact, this era in history, when at least some governments heed the will of the people, could easily pass away, to the normalcy of tyrannical rule, rule where much of mankind lives in slavery and have little more value than livestock.
So, what about the storming of the Capitol building, that stupid bit of violence that came at the end of the rally? It is not like the rally was a big secret. So, it is weird that the Capitol police were not prepared keep unarmed protesters out of the Capitol Building.
Because Conservatives are generally not violent, the Capitol police were probably were not expecting trouble. As it is, we still know little about the people who broke into the Capitol. Is this true, XRVision firm claims Antifa infiltrated protesters who stormed Capitol – Washington Times? I don’t know. I just know that Liberal Democrats have little interest in debating election integrity. They are too busy calling Conservatives racists, stupid, conspiracy theorists, deplorable, extremists, …….
When something like the storming of the Capitol happens, there is always lots of confusion. Part of the confusion results from the fact that so-called mainstream news media is utterly partisan. When asked to debate, both the news media and Liberal Democrat politicians immediately look for an excuse to make accusations and misrepresentations, not just Liberal Democrat politicians.
Even though most of the crowd — because it was huge — didn’t even know what was going on at the Capitol building, the storming of the Capitol enabled the so-called mainstream news media and Liberal Democrat politicians to portray Trump and rally attendees as violence prone extremists. Thus, the Rally for Trump in Washington D. C., because of the storming of the Capitol by radicals, became a defeat for Conservatives instead of the triumph it should of been. When Big Tech, the so-called mainstream news media, and crazies like Antifa and BLW are all ganging up on you, it takes tremendous courage to stand up for ones principles. Since most of our leaders just want to spend our money and not be targeted by the news media, the few who had planned to challenge Electors immediately folded.
So, Congress got to do what most of our Congressmen were happy to do. Conduct a controversial vote in the dark of night.
You say I exaggerate? Following the death of George Floyd, we had plenty of riots, and we would hard put to find any condemnations of the violence in the so-called mainstream news media. At least, that is what I observed. Undoubtedly, if you are still a Liberal Democrat, you never noticed.

We are divided. About half of us believe the so-called mainstream news media and about half of us don’t. We both believe lies about each other I suppose. Few of us know enough about our history to understand how our government was intended to work or what the framers of our Constitution had in mind. Many of us think the oath to the Constitution meaningless. It has even gotten to the point many of us want to tear down the statues honoring the men who make up our nation’s history because in our own arrogance we think them all evil and unworthy. We cannot hate each other and maintain a republic. In such a divided state only a tyrant can rule.

Thanks for this level headed and thoughtful post Tom and I appreciate your perspective from the ground there. Storming the Capital was wrong, undeniably so and those that did it will be punished. The Left is acting like this was some sort of Coup attempt which it most certainly was not. Yet, that will be the narrative they pound for several days so people that don’t know any better will (or already have) come to believe this is true.
Whether or not Trump incited anything, based on what I’ve heard so far (and what you posted) it doesn’t appear he did. I’ve not seen his speech but plan to look at the links you posted and will make up my mind about it then. I do have to say this president has never been treated differently fairly by the msm since day 1 so my skepticism radar is way high.
I’m bothered by what happened yesterday, a lot, but not quite as much as I am by the blatant brain washing most media outlets employ. People truly live in different realities, because of this. In a way we are all being gas lighted.

Some of the Democrats are literally trying to start a purge. First, they ban us from public life. Then don’t allow us to work or buy anything. Then they take our children from us and send us, if we are still alive, to reeducation camps. Finally, if we refused to give up our own beliefs and echo their own, they enslave us or work us to death in labor camps.

For someone who styles himself as real smart and scientific, you don’t have much patience. Well, don’t worry. So long as your side wins and you remain on the “right” side, the truth will be whatever you are told it is.
I posted names, I posted a video from one of the most identifiable guys. Distrust and verify via DuckDuckGo. For quite a few of them you will find information going years back identifying them as Trumpers. A lot of these people have been claimed to be Antifa by the Right immediately, based on the flimsiest of excuses. The Trumpsters know so much that isn’t so.
I don’t call those legitimate supports of the President— fringe groups of radicalism bent on violence no matter who’s the politician of the day

My personal opinion is some people are fools who get carried away and are unable to control their anger whether justifiable or not.
Frankly though, in my opinion, although I hated to witness the violence, at least the Washington rioters aimed their frustrations and anger at a more appropriate target instead of taking out their frustrations by robbing and destroying blameless innocent storeowners and businesses.
Actually, Congress is lucky they did not get tar and feathered which is what angry mobs used to do to politicians in the past when they became angry with them.
Sad that Trump will be the sacrificial goat by many politicians and Trump haters, including many Republicans legislators.

Even though the Capitol Police are under the control of Speaker Pelosi, I expect they are reasonably competent. The apparently got caught flatfooted. My guess is that we will eventually find out, if the news media ever publishes it, that the a group used the Rally for Trump as cover for their assault on the Capitol Building. Someone paid for that operation. Who we will probably never know.

When Trump leaves office, there will be no more reason to watch the news or keep up with current events at all. I suspect there will only be fluff pieces aimed to build up Biden and his cronies. Without Trump to pick on, what will they have to talk about? Actual news? At this point, I doubt that journalists (and I use that term lightly) will even know what news encompasses. I will put my trust in God and not men. But please keep blogging. There is still much work to be done.

Well, there are still some decent news sources, at least until they are censored.
Saving souls has to be our priority. Bad government gives Christians an opportunity to show our fellow citizens the need for repentance. When we vote and live selfishly, we bring tyranny upon ourselves.
I’m sure conspiracy theories will be flying all over the place, but one thing I just don’t understand is how easy it was for these violent protestors to get into the building. Numbers matter when it comes to crowd control, especially huge groups like yesterday’s rally, but what I saw unfolding was obviously orchestrated. I saw folks dressed in fatigues and helmets, with backpacks climbing through windows they broke. I saw a fairly orderly line of people walking into the main area of the building. It just looks fishy to me in a number of ways. Now is the time for prayer and God will definitely lead us in the right direction. I know he has a plan for all of this. It will be used for our benefit, even though we can’t see that right now.

Here and there I saw a few people dressed for a fight, but the vast majority had no interest in such a thing. Some people had even brought small children, not something I do since large crowds can panic and trample little people. Still, Conservative demonstrations revolve around listening to speeches, an old American tradition, not rioting.
I totally agree Tom. Conservatives are not known for disruptive, destructive or violent behavior. I do believe there’s a lot we don’t know yet.

And you know what? Ivanka called these rioters patriots, before furiously paddling back, and Trump sent the video message, addressing his supporters in the Capitol: “We love you. You’re very special. Go home”
Go look, what the UK Secretary of State Priti Patel has to say about the riots. Or any western European head of state. They put the responsibility for inciting this riot square with Trump.

If you truly believed what Trump said at his insurrection rally and what he has said repeatedly since even before the election, which is that he won and that the election was stolen from him, then why weren’t you one of the persons storming the capital to overturn that election? It’s what Trump obviously wanted (and has applauded) whether he couched it vaguely or not. I can tell you that, if the violent overthrow had been successful to unconstitutionally overturn the election of Joe Biden, then I would have joined a revolution against such an unlawful insurrection.
We have competing views of diametrically opposing truths about something basic to our democracy. For my side, I have most of the Congress, including most of the Republican leadership, the courts, the military heads, former attorney generally Bill Barr, all of the living presidents (including W), all the living former Defense Secretaries, and most of the media (including the most legitimate of the conservative media). On your side, you have a desperate, deranged and dangerously criminal liar who is rapidly being abandoned by everyone and is increasingly isolated.
I don’t really expect to change your mind right now from advocating this delusion. I expect that things will play themselves out to permanently discredit Trump and Trumpism and the Republican Party and the country will ultimately be stronger for it.
