Prince William-Manassas Family Alliance

The remote happened to land on one of the channels that airs vintage TV shows from another era. Dad’s new car and the tale of a broken headlight when Wally used it on a date was the episode showing on “Leave It To Beaver”. What a trip back in time that was!
The boys were dressed and groomed neatly, and so were their parents. June and Ward Cleaver behaved like parents, not bosom buddies of their sons. While they were good to the boys, they also had high expectations for them that the boys knew and respected. Boys will be boys and so were Wally and Beaver. However, they actually obeyed their mom and dad without arguing or trying to reason their way out. They…

Tom,
If you truly believed what Trump said at his insurrection rally and what he has said repeatedly since even before the election, which is that he won and that the election was stolen from him, then why weren’t you one of the persons storming the capital to overturn that election? It’s what Trump obviously wanted (and has applauded) whether he couched it vaguely or not. I can tell you that, if the violent overthrow had been successful to unconstitutionally overturn the election of Joe Biden, then I would have joined a revolution against such an unlawful revolution.
We have competing views of diametrically opposing truths about something basic to our democracy. For my side, I have most of the Congress, including most of the Republican leadership, the courts, the military heads, former attorney generally Bill Barr, all of the living presidents (including W), all the living former Defense Secretaries, and most of the media (including the most legitimate of the conservative media). On your side, you have a desperate, deranged and dangerously criminal liar who is rapidly being abandoned by everyone and is increasingly isolated.
I don’t really expect to change your mind right now from advocating this delusion. I expect that things will play themselves out to permanently discredit Trump and Trumpism and the Republican Party and the country will ultimately be stronger for it.
Trump and the sad attempted Trump insurgency put a lasting nail in Trump’s coffin yesterday no matter what you or I believe. For the next several months, Trumpers will either spend all their time making sad excuses for their part or they will be (like Lindsey Graham yesterday) redefining themselves by running from it. But what happened will not be forgotten, and that, I think, will be a good thing.

You are jumping to conclusions without waiting, gloating in some kind of sick victory. The complete story tells us who, what, when, how, and why. You cannot answer those questions. You can only speculate..
Meanwhile, Virginia’s stupid governor is issuing a state of emergency in Arlington and Alexandria. Silly! The vast majority of the crowd at the rally was like me. Until my wife called, I had no idea anyone had attacked the Capitol. We were just supposed to march to the Capitol, make some noise, and go home. It was a demonstration of support for Conservatives, not a stupid assault.
Stop and think. Trump had nothing to gain. Conservatives have nothing to gain.We are trying to save the republic, not give Liberal Democrats an excuse to shut us up.

@marmoewp
Something is weird about that.
Conservatives appreciate the police. We don’t fight with them. I listened to Trump’s speech. He wanted the Constitutional process to go forward. He didn’t say anything about attacking anyone. We marched on the Supreme Court twice. No one clashed with the police. The don’t even expect trouble from us.
Don’t worry, by tomorrow morning you will have convinced yourself, that all these people were imposters, trying to give Trump and his fans a bad name.
I was there yo idiot.
I meant the people storming the Capitol, obviously not you.
“We’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Ave — I love Pennsylvania Avenuw — and we’re going to the Capitol,” the president said.
“We’re going to try and give our Republicans — the weak ones because the strong ones don’t need any of our help — we’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country,” Trump added. “So let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.”
@marmoewp
I was there. Remember? I listened to the whole speech. Even the part you quoted. It never occurred to me that I was being told to storm the Capitol. However, if you are looking for an excuse to hate Trump, anything will do. We human beings don’t really need a reason to hate. It seems we need a reason to love.
And I am peasently surprised by Mitch McConnell. The rest from a Guardian live ticker:
The Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, made an impassioned speech in favor of certification, as the chamber debated an objection to Arizona’s electoral votes.
“I’ve served 36 years in the Senate,” the Republican leader said. “This will be the most important vote I have ever cast.”
“We cannot simply declare ourselves a national board of elections on steroids. The voters, the courts and the states have all spoken. They’ve all spoken. If we overrule them, it would damage our republic forever”
McConnell warned that overruling the will of the people in the presidential election would do irreparable harm to American democracy.
“The voters, the courts and the states have all spoken. They’ve all spoken,” McConnell said. “If we overrule them, it would damage our republic forever.”
McConnell also noted that the November election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump was not particularly close, certainly not close enough to raise doubts about the outcome.
“If this election were overturned by mere accusations from the losing side, our democracy would enter a death spiral,” McConnell said.
Criticizing the members of his party who are objecting to the certification, McConnell added, “I will not pretend that such a vote is a harmless protest gesture while relying on others to do the right thing.”

You are welcome to comment to your
heart’s content, but I will cover the topic in a post tomorrow, one I going to write anyway.
I will point out the obvious. We have had an election. Critical states clearly violated the Constitution when state and local officials altered their election laws. These officials facilitated election fraud. Afterwards, these officials and our courts refused to make a proper investigation…….. When their supporters riot and burn down buildings, Liberal Democrats politicians make excuses and even bail them out of jail. That standard, for some reason, does not apply to Conservatives. So gloat all you want.
I used to watch Leave it to Beaver re runs as a kid in the 70’s. I loved that show!
It is interesting to think about the values of the LITB era and the ending of it coinciding with prayer being abolished in school. Not so coincidental I think.
