Victoria Cobb, president of The Family Foundation of Virginia, warns that the outcome of the November 3 election will determine whether or not taxpayers pay for Medicare abortions in the future.
In an email released October 21 (Family Foundation Action, familyfoundation@familyfoundation.org, Action Alert: Reject Taxpayer Funded Abortion, October 21, 2020), she focused on a virtual meeting held by a Virginia House Health, Welfare and Institutions work group that discussed HB 1445. The bill would expand Medicaid coverage to pay for abortions regardless of reason. Currently, only abortions of pregnancies resulting from incest, rape or to save the mother’s life are covered.
