Overnight President Donald Trump tweeted.
“Tonight, (at)FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately,” Trump tweeted just before 1 a.m. “We will get through this TOGETHER!” (from here (washingtontimes.com))
This was sort of inevitable. The White House did its best to keep the virsus out, but COVID-19 is extremely contagious, and therein is the problem. The people in the White House exist to interact with other people. We all exist to interact with other people. So everyone who can be infected by the virus will eventually be infected until they are just too few people for the virus to infect.
Fortunately, our president and his lady are healthy. So, they will most likely get over the virus without much trouble. That is an eventually we can all hope and pray for.
On the topic of covid.
But for the shocking but unsurprisingly news that the President has COVID-19 and was actively staging super-spreader events that had so far infected at least three Senators, Chris Christi, several members of the press, his press secretary, the head of Notre Dame, and likely many others, we would have heard more about other stories including:
1. The First Lady caught on tape disrespecting Christmas and also showing callous indifference for immigrant children.
2. Former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, a prominent Republican, endorsing Biden and saying this:
“In addition, President Trump lacks a moral compass. He ignores the truth.
“Facts and science matter. Good decisions should be based on facts and supported by sound scientific theory whenever possible.
“President Trump also has demonstrated that he does not fully appreciate public policy matters, including public health, the economy and foreign relations, nor does he seem to want to learn.“
Trump’s pathological idiocy continues to upstage Trump’s pathological idiocy. Amazing.

“Disrespecting Christmas”. I believe the statement was “Who gives a (bleep) about Christmas stuff and decorations?”. I think I probably said this every year I was forced to do Christmas parties. It isn’t Christmas itself, it is the “stuff” associated with it.
I realize most people cannot understand what it is like to be in this sort of position.
I understand 100 percent. And had far less work and suffered far less criticism than Melania has in the past four years.
“Callous indifference” would be “Were they were saying anything when Obama did that?” Which is also fair. Did they? No. They did not.
Nice troll job.
I’ll say more.
Every. Single. Year. Melania is criticized every Christmas.
The decorations were “too dark”, “too cold” et al.
She’s fed up and a tape catches her in a bad moment and this is somehow news.
There aren’t enough expletives in the English language to cover my thoughts on this one.

Melania Trump’s theme for this year’s White House Christmas decorations is “The Spirit of America,” and judging from the display at the traditional media preview Monday morning, that spirit is monochromatic. (snip)
Gone from the colonnade were last year’s (“creepy” or chic, depending on who you asked) blood red trees made of branches of cranberries. Trump’s critics had said they looked like they were straight out of “The Handmaid’s Tale” or “The Shining.”
(snip)
During her first White House Christmas in 2017, she had lined that colonnade with abundant sprays of white branches, which could have been seen as a winter wonderland — or, when lit from below, a gathering of skeletons. As Stephen Colbert put it then, “Gahh, what holiday is that for? Saint Gorlon’s Feast of Human Bones?”
Why indeed wouldn’t she want more of this? How dare she “disrespect” Christmas by saying “who cares about decorations”? As the masses disrespect her with impunity. For no reason other than true mean spirited crass vulgarity.
IB actually did a post on this a while back, and it was spot on:

Liz was just responding to your hero, tsalmon.
The university was a ghost town yesterday, our son was one of the last to leave his dorm.
There was a very large, long parade of cars with US and Trump flags we passed on the highway on the way back.
@Liz
Thanks for sharing that.
