Pop gun (from here (en.wikipedia.org))
There are problems with conducting classes online. One of them is that when children are at home, they are at home with their toys, including their toy guns. What happens a teacher sees a toy gun flash across the screen? Well, here are reports of what happened in Colorado Springs, CO, to Isaiah Elliot, a twelve year old boy.

The school sent police to the boy’s home. Then they suspended the boy for five days just for accidentally allowing his toy nerf gun to be seen. It seems that that school administration doesn’t much care for…

So mad about this. I won’t let my son use his web cam during school. I’m glad I don’t. This opens up a Pandora’s box of judgement. The school is NOT in my home. What if a teacher decides she doesn’t like the cleanliness of my home? Or she sees my child snacking on candy (God forbid)? I know those seem like trivial things, but so does a nerf gun. The teachers have enough to worry about with this new format (as do the parents). I saw somewhere that one district even went so far as to ask parents to sign a waiver saying they wouldn’t be immediately present while a student is online. That’s just unacceptable. It’s MY PRIVATE HOME. Nothing like opening the doors and letting the state right in there too. Sorry, but this really ticked me off. I hope they rethink their decision about the suspension. I’m not one to take action usually, but I think I’d sue over this one.

I get nervous about the government using our cell phones to monitor us. Can you imagine what it is like to live in China, knowing it will get worse?
Here is an article on a school district in Tennessee trying to force parents not to listen in, https://familyallianceonline.org/2020/08/28/pay-attention-to-virtual-class-content-it-may-shock-you/.
This is sort of off topic, but since it has the word “police” I’ll post this list here.

@Liz
Heard something similar on the radio.
I guess we don’t get to know the name of the teacher who called this in.
Only the 12 year old’s name.
Our oldest was 12 when he MADE a gun. A real one (he didn’t use bullets, but homemade gun powder and small rocks for projectiles so it was more like a musket).
@Liz
The cannons that knocked down the walls of Constantinople fired big rocks.
He made a tiny cannon too, and the boys smelt iron in a (also homemade) forge to make little balls for it. Good times living on an Island. 😆
One of our sons made a sling and got really good with that. Took out a piece of our wrought iron fence. They’ve got some primitive man skills.
