MOSTLY PEACEFUL PROTESTS FOR WHAT?

What are those riots about? The ones that Democrat Congressman Jerry Nadler calls a myth (Rep. Jerry Nadler Brushes Off Antifa Violence As A ‘Myth’ (thefederalist.com)). Supposedly, they have something to do with the death of George Floyd. A policeman hired by Democrat run city, in a Democrat run state killed Floyd, and the video of the killing horrified everyone. So, apparently to take advantage of some people’s irrational rage, Black Lives Matters, a Marxist organization (see here), instigated  “mostly peaceful” protests that — Surprise! Surprise! —  turned into riots.

We still don’t know what motivated that rogue cop, but we do know there is nothing peaceful about Marxism. Never has been. Tens of millions have died because of that vile ideology. Nevertheless, Democrats have associated themselves with Black Lives Matters with all the enthusiasm they once adopted the KKK (see Ku Klux Klan (history.com) and 1924: The Wildest Convention in U.S. History (politico.com)), another mostly peaceful organization famous for lynching blacks.

Neither Democrat politicians nor their news media allies have disapproved of the violence. Instead, they have blamed the police and Trump.

Do these “mostly peaceful” protests make any sense? What is being protested? Are these “mostly peaceful” protests the logical follow-on to the work of Martin Luther King? No. King stood for something real and concrete, treating everyone as equal before the law, regardless of race. What do these mostly protests stand for? George Floyd or Marxism? Well, George Floyd was killed in a Democrat city by a policeman hired by a Democrat administration. If that rogue cop is representative of the police force in Minneapolis, whose fault is that?

As a practical matter these mostly peaceful protests represent people determined to have it their way no matter what the cost. The sin is pride.

Better to reign in Hell, than to serve in Heaven. ― John Milton, Paradise Lost (from here (en.wikiquote.org))

What have the Democrats and their news media allies been preoccupied with ever since Donald Trump won the election? Removing him from office. The riots are just one more way to get rid of Trump.

When Trump sent Federal officers into Portland, Oregon to protect Federal property, the Democrat mayor blamed Trump and those officers for the riots in his Democrat run state. Speaker Nancy Pelosi even had the gall to call Federal law enforcement officers stormtroopers.

Nevertheless, some people find it difficult to believe Democrat politicians could be so cold and calculating in their quest for power that they could lie. No. Only President Donald Trump could be such a liar. Haven’t the Liberal Democrat news media told us time and time again that Donald Trump is a liar?

Well, neither Democrat nor Republican politicians care much about us. Both are too ready to spend our money, but Democrats are worse. Here are two simple, obvious examples.

So, why would supposedly decent people want to participate in those “mostly peaceful” protests. Well, there is this acronym that might help explain, LARP. LARP stands for Live Action Role Playing (en.wikipedia.org) game. We can pretend. When the real world becomes too difficult we can escape by pretending President Donald Trump is an evil archvillain and federal law enforcement officers are stormtroopers. We can don ninja gear and skulk into the night and pretend the FORCE is with us. If we do that, however, we will be working for the Dark Side.

  1. With a few changes, here’s my comment from where you started this:

I think that you live so deeply in Trump’s racist bubble that you don’t even see what is happening outside any more. According to some estimates, something like 20 million people (my daughter included) have demonstrated since George Floyd was publicly lynched by a racist police officer. These demonstrations took place in small and large cities, in rural areas and the burbs, in red and blue states with diverse attendance all over the country. Even if the estimates were half right, this would make these spontaneous protests some of the largest demonstrations in the history of this country.

In response, city and state governments have lawfully removed from all over our great nation monuments to slavery and Jim Crow. Almost by unanimous legislative consent, my own state of Mississippi took down our hundred year old emblem of black suppression and terror that was our state flag.

The protesters by far have been almost completely nonviolent and democratic in the best traditions of MLK and John Lewis and of our nation when it is united for justice, not the Santclausification of MLK, but the real radical MLK who would have supported BLM, as his protege laying now in state at the Capital, John Lewis, actually did.

In desperation, because his incompetence in handling the pandemic is throwing out his reelection chances like last week’s rotten fish, Trump is trying to manufacture riots as an excuse to come off as some sort of more messianic racist reincarnation of George Wallace who supposedly will somehow save frail female white suburbanites from Trump’s sick vision of raging Mandingos rioting out at them from the dystopian cities. It’s not the 1960s and America doesn’t look that way anymore.

The burbs are more diverse than ever. Many of the inner cities have been gentrified. Don’t you think it odd that Trump chose Portland, one of the most lily white cities in the country, to fabricate a white backlash? In Portlandia a wall of mostly white moms and leaf blower tear gas dispersing dads are confronting a paramilitary, pseudo federal police force while “Naked Athena” does yoga moves in front of them clad in only her face mask and birthday suit.

Sure, with the threat federal invasion, Trump has inspired and drawn out of the rainforest and from under every rock kooky anarchists and creepy white supremacists and clowns of all varieties just to riot late at night, but mostly Trump has managed to single handedly fabricate less of a white backlash than some surreal, mostly ridiculous and Kafkaesque scene from a cross between a musical rendition of “Springtime for Hitler” and a Fellini movie.

You think “Black Lives Matter” is somehow plotting all this nonsensical chaos from a dark smoke filled room full of wannabe bottle rocket Bolsheviks? Have you ever spent any time in parts of Portland or on Capital Hill in Seattle? At best, we are talking about a bunch of face tattooed and tackle box looking nose pierced white kid misfits who couldn’t organize their way through college or a job to pay their share of the rent, much less conspire a neocommunist takeover. If you can actually find a black face in the crowd, they probably got lost and are looking for the light rail station, or they are their to enjoy the freak show. After Trump tweeted his nonsense, most BLM supporters are not complaining that it’s more about Trump now than it has to do with BLM.

What bazaar corners of the internet do you get this communist conspiracy stuff? Are they advertising that malaria drugs will cure male pattern baldness too? Can you get an unused degree at Trump University and the real copies of the birth certificate that proves Obama was actually born on Neptune? The VIOLENCE is being perpetrated by confused kooks, anarchists, and white supremacists, not the predominantly peaceful white or black protesters who are responding to a sadistic cop’s public lynching of George Floyd, and certainly not BLM.

Trump is making the violence worse, not deescalating It, and that he is doing it on purpose is as transparent as it is pathetic. You are being played. However, luckily, for most of country who doesn’t get their news from Alex Jones or Trump’s Twitter world of conspiracies, lies and scams, it’s just not working.

No, it’s not working for anyone who isn’t so deeply embedded in Trump’s conspiracy dystopia that he still believes in Trump’s birtherism and that Sandy Hook was staged for Obama by the same Hollywood directors who did the moon landings just to take away our guns.

You’re on the wrong side of both reality and history here brother, and the wrong side of actually protecting those rights that you claim are God given (but really apparently only to white Christian Americans). You’re the one playing identity politics while the rest of the country is uniting behind good old American diversity and pluralism. And now, “the Commies are coming, the Commies are coming”! Get real.

Oh well, this will be interesting, in a bazaar way, as it plays out, but I don’t think all the suburban soccer Moms are going to clutch their pearls and start vacuuming out the old bomb shelter any time soon. 🙂

    1. @tsalmon

These demonstrations took place in small and large cities, in rural areas and the burbs, in red and blue states with diverse attendance all over the country. Even if the estimates were half right, this would make these spontaneous protests some of the largest demonstrations in the history of this country.

I won’t waste my time arguing against your unprovable numbers. As I said, EVERYONE was horrified by the killing of George Floyd. So why do we need riots and Democrat political leaders encouraging riots in their own cities? To get rid of Trump, of course.

What does the pandemic have to do with this? Nothing. The pandemic just gave Democrats an excuse to shut down the economy. Fortuitously, it gave thugs time off to riot. It also allowed Democrats complain about Trump wrecking the economy and throwing granny off the cliff.

The burbs are more diverse than ever. Many of the inner cities have been gentrified. Don’t you think it odd that Trump chose Portland, one of the most lily white cities in the country, to fabricate a white backlash? In Portland a wall of mostly white moms and leaf blower tear gas dispersing dads are confronting a paramilitary, pseudo federal police force while “Naked Athena” does yoga moves in front of them clad in only her face mask and birthday suit.

The burbs are more diverse. So, why do we need riots? If the riots are all about a nude woman, why are policemen being wounded, blinded, killed, and wishing they had never become policemen? Why are you attacking police officers who are just protecting a federal building from people you just called crazy?

Why did Trump choose Portland? Why did Jessie James rob banks? If you want to protect Federal property, then you go where someone is trying to burn it down.

Black Lives Matters is not about racial justice. The riots are not about racial justice. They are about Marxism. The leadership of that movement is mostly coming from young white women. The Democrat party leadership is taking advantage of Black Lives Matters and Antifa the same way they used the KKK. With the aid of a complicit news media, they are being more effective.

Democrats also have the cooperation of the big Internet companies. Trump says something good about a possible COVID-19 treatment, and what happens? A drug that has been used for decades is suddenly deemed dangerous, and those companies start banning any videos, including those made by reputable MDs that advise using that drug to treat COVID-19.

Anyway, please observe I am dealing with verifiable facts. You are just blowing smoke with cute remarks about a woman exhibiting herself. Think! I am not voting for riots, excessive government spending, character assassination, moral decay, and so forth. My “conspiracy theories” do not require me to believe Trump is Putin’s puppet. I don’t have to believe unnamed sources. That’s your bailiwick. When I say Black Lives Matters is Marxist, it is because I took that information right off their own website. When I say the big Internet companies engage in censorship, it is because we all know they do. When I say the news media is biased, it is because we have to be blind if we don’t see it. When I say Democrats are liars and Socialists, I can point to their presidential debates. If I call Democrats racists, I can point to what Obama said about H. Clinton, and K. Harris said about Biden.

      1. The leadership of that movement is mostly coming from young white women. The Democrat party leadership is taking advantage of Black Lives Matters and Antifa the same way they used the KKK. With the aid of a complicit news media, they are being more effective.

Mike took a trip to Columbus, Ohio recently. He scootered through some of the more affluent portions which are almost entirely white. Lots of BLM stickers and graffiti. He texted that if he was a black man living in that community he would feel weird with the “I love you black man!” graffiti, It was very weird anyway. He saw one little black boy (the only person of color he saw) and felt sorry for him growing up in that strange environment. How kind of them to “care” so much about the black community.
Meanwhile there were no BLM emblems/graffiti in the other portions of the city.

Maybe Nancy can stand in front of her 22,000 dollar refrigerator and show us her 12 dollar a pint ice cream again, and lament about law enforcement doing their job while they are being attacked and blinded.

        1. Jordan Peele made a horror genre film that is essentially a parody of this type of environment, entitled “Get Out”.

          1. @Liz

Not familiar with the movie. Gave up on TV shows and movies about 35 years ago. So, when I am tempted to watch something these days it rubs against the grain. Nevertheless, I imagine “Get Out” would have been great satire. Now Liberal Democrats would just think it normal and wonder why it is a joke. Can’t make this stuff up.

You mentioned the little boy. Liberal Democrats have been pushing affirmative action and stoking white guilt for years. Public schools teach and justify this nonsense. That little boy is the descendant of slaves so he is disadvantaged. So, ler’s make him a heart surgeon. Just have to appropriately adjust his grades and SAT scores. Why would that be a problem?

          2. Not sure you would like the movie (probably not, candidly), but it is true satire.

I’m trying to understand this new reality where crime is rampant, people destroy property and attack people (including black people) and folks just shrug and say “the peace has escalated”.

      2. Talk about the Dems all you want. (I might even agree with you on some things). Im not a giant fan of any party, but it doesn’t take a genius to see Trump is failing and flailing here.

When you say that Democratic mayors and governors must shoulder some blame for what goes on in their cities, I’m totally with you. (I used to live in the NW until recently and I’ve seen first hand what unbridled idealism looks like when it thinks it can solve every intractable problem in the world, and still try to run a railroad).

We were, however, at a thirty year crime rate low throughout the country until the pandemic, including in the cities. Any uptick recently falls squarely at the mayors’ feet, but it is also pretty hard not to see that the ultimate cause of it all is Trump’s incompetent, botched, even exacerbating handling of the national health emergency, the absolute disarray that is the Republican Party due to his complete lack of leadership on the economic recession, and his endless attempts to further divide the country in the midst of a racial and economic injustice reckoning. Trump’s injecting gasoline into what was a dying fire in Portland and Seattle is just Trump trying to create a distraction from his criminally corrupt behavior and incompetence. It’s pathetic and what is even more pathetic are those who feel so aggrieved about everything from the fact that their peculiar theology can’t be forced on everyone to that they can’t freely infect everyone else wherever and whenever they want to that they are willing to let Trump instigate riots as an excuse to invade our own cities with federal forces.

Luckily, no one is really falling for the old George Wallace Law and Order or the old red scare demagoguery anymore. Most of us would just like to watch a sports event again (you know, like they can do in countries not run by an incompetent megalomaniac), and we look at that, and we don’t blame a few disorganized (by definition) anarchists trying to, guess what, spread anarchy or few white supremacists who think that they can help their leader, Trump, big surprise, start the race war they are just sure is about to break out. We blame the guy at the top and the political party that is screwing the whole nation up.

Knowing Trump and the Republicans are screwing up the country isn’t some dark hidden conspiracy theory fed to us by the Jewish Illuminati that secretly control the press and it’s not something that is being secretly fueled by BLM leaders who claim they just want black human dignity after only 400 years of oppression but, no they really want totalitarian communism (cause that works out real well for minorities) instead.

Tens of millions of Americans are unemployed. A hundred and fifty million Americans have died and hundreds of thousands of others have gotten terribly sick and possibly permanently injured and there is no end in sight. This is sparking nationwide unrest as it magnifies economic and racial injustices that have simmered for years. We don’t need dark conspiratorial forces to blame – we have an orange con artist clown in charge who hourly tweets lies and daily comes on TV to whine that none of this is his fault or his responsibility – someone else is always to blame besides he guy in charge or the political party who has become enthralled to him.

It isn’t working Tom. Only kooks are buying your conspiracy theories when they can look around them and see their whole lives have been needlessly cancelled by Trump’s idiocies. You’re gonna have to up your blame game. Maybe start a war somewhere with a fabricated incident or maybe burn down the capital building and blame it on the Jewish run mainstream media. Wait, I think that’s all been tried before. Maybe you ought to just recognize you’re wrong, and you picked a spoiled, narcissist conman with Daddy issues to lead you.

Oh well, I guess you’ve got too much invested in the grievance game to give up yet. Maybe after the election, if we still have a country by then.

        1. @tsalmon

Live and let live does require the most unbridled idealism, I suppose. How could anything work properly unless the almighty state has unyielding control under the watchful eye of bureaucrats (“experts”)?

Talk about the Dems all you want. (I might even agree with you on some things). Im not a giant fan of any party, but it doesn’t take a genius to see Trump is failing and flailing here.

Well, I suppose it takes genius to prove Trump is failing and flailing. You sure are not doing it.

What is the basic problem? Democrats care soooo much, but how do we exhibit love?

John 1:14-18 New American Standard Bible

          The Word Made Flesh

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’” 16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. 17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

The Word became flesh, flesh full of grace and truth.

Why grace and truth? What is love without grace. If we don’t have the ability to give of ourselves then how do we demonstrate love? What is love if we do not love in truth? If we deny the truth, the reality of what we can know, we live a lie. Our love is based upon lies. Our love is a lie.

Your comment reminds of the nonsense I hoped I had left behind in high school. Democrats try to portray themselves as the anti-bullying party, but they are the worst bullies. In 2016 Democrats raved because Trump refused to accept the outcome of the election BEFORE the election had been held. Then, AFTER Trump won Democrats refused to accept the outcome of the election, and they have tried to bully him out of office ever since then. Moreover, Democrats would have us believe that it is Trump’s fault they are behaving like bullies. Blaming the victim? Yep!

Listen to you. It is all in my head. I have been brainwashed, and you are sooo sad about my condition. My theories are kook theories, but your theories are just facts. When do ever talk about anything factual? Why do you just paint these narratives and assume they are the truth?

          Consider some facts. Explain them.
          1. We know Democrats paid for the Steele Dossier, which actually was the product of collusion with Russians.
          2. We know the FBI abused the FISA process so that they could spy on the Trump campaign.
          3. We know news media organizations based most of their nonsense about Trump on unnamed sources.
          4. We know that Biden’s son received lots of money from foreign sources. For example, Biden actually did use his influence to inappropriately stop an investigation of by the government of Ukraine. Trump just wanted Ukraine to restart that investigation.
          5. We know that former appointees of the Obama administration, including fired FBI personnel, have been hired by Liberal Democrat news media organizations to bad mouth the Trump administration. No conflict of interest there.
          6. We know that the big Internet companies routinely censor Conservatives.
          7. We know that many of our big corporations have a vested interest in too often sleazy connections with China. The NBA revealed their hypocrisy when they squelched protests within their ranks against the China regime’s tyranny over Hong Kong. Nike actually uses slave labor in China to make its products. But they are all in favor of Black Lives Matters? Is the Marxist connection that difficult to understand?
          8. I know, because I have actually done some research, that news media reports about Trump “lies”, “racist remarks”, or “stupid sayings”, consist of nothing more than words taken out of context.

Is there a conspiracy? Is there is some kind of secret organization pulling strings? Satanic? Yes. But human? Not really. There is little doubt that the Obama administration abused its power by spying on the Trump administration. Obama made Nixon appear saintly. Nevertheless, the basic problem is one of human nature.

Love is an act of the will. Unless we constantly make the effort to love God and each other, we don’t. Unless we teach our children to love God and each other, many don’t understand why they should. Unless we ask God to help us, we don’t have sufficient will to love anyone except our self.

James 4:1-10 New American Standard Bible

4 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”? 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

Therefore, when we are without God’s help because we have not asked, we turn to idols: science, stuff, sex, state, and self. We turn to these idols even though their worship requires us to bend others, even those who should be closest to us, to our will.

BTW. The offical stats say a 150,000 thousand have died from COVID-19, not 150,000,000. About 4-5 million Americans usually die every year anyway. Don’t want to be one of them, but we all eventually die. So the “crisis” is way overblown. That is expecially true when we consider two things.
          1. The media age of the COVID-19 death statistic is 78.
          2. Having the COVID-19 virus — testing positive — is all it takes to become a COVID-19 statistic.

          1. “1. We know Democrats paid for the Steele Dossier, which actually was the product of collusion with Russians.“

Let’s connect the yarn chaos of your “Deep State” boogeymen into some kind of timeline please. Anti-Trump Republicans originally commissioned that oppo-research. Or maybe we should go back to “If the Russians are listening . . .”? How about the fact that the guy who conveniently recently got his sentence commuted by Trump was working with Wikileaks to dump the Dem’s Russian hacked emails? He was convicted of lying to Congress and investigators about that, among other nefarious things. Then there’s the “fact” that several of Trump’s other closest advisors, including his national security advisor, have been been convicted or pled guilty for various Russian related schemes. Or how about Trump’s convicted fixer attorney confessing that he was bargaining aat the behest of Trump timo to build a Moscow hotel at time that Trump was outright lying to voters that he had no such dealings.

Or why not go all the way back to the fact that Trump launched his whole political life on lie after lie, conspiracy after conspiracy, including most memorably the racist one about our first African American President’s birth legitimacy. The con man’s whole life is a tangled web of dark grievances and paranoid conspiracies and you lap that drivel up out of Trump’s mouth and Twitter hole like it’s mother’s milk?

“2. We know the FBI abused the FISA process so that they could spy on the Trump campaign.“

Any secretive tribunal that doesn’t ultimately allow transparent due process is Inherently subject to abuse. But you are only concerned about this abuse when you feel that it hurts your tribe but not the enemy camp. Those supposedly “God given rights” are amazingly selective, aren’t they?

The FBI IG found technical abuse of the process but he also found no dark political FBI motive for it. He said that, given the extreme evidence of Russian interference in our elections, the FBI had probable cause to investigate, and in fact, given that evidence, would have been negligent for not pursuing an investigation into the deep Russian connections of a campaign advisor whose former Russian contacts had already been charged and convicted of espionage related activities.

“3. We know news media organizations based most of their nonsense about Trump on unnamed sources.“

Yes, I know, you believe the old communist propaganda, oft repeated by Trump, that a free press is “the enemy of the people”. Don’t you think this Cold War trope is getting a little stale, even for the autocrats and the wannabe autocrats like Trump?

“4. We know that Biden’s son received lots of money from foreign sources. For example, Biden actually did use his influence to inappropriately stop an investigation of by the government of Ukraine. Trump just wanted Ukraine to restart that investigation.“

The demagogue’s best tool is to accuse the opposition of all the things the demagogue is actually doing. Trump, the guy who wants to hold the G7 at his own resort, who wants an inordinately expensive new FBI headquarters near his own hotel, who we just recently found out wanted to get the our Ambassador there to convince the Brits to move the British Open to his.Scottish resort, who has his totally incompetent and unqualified family firmly ensconced in the WH supposedly to solve everything from the Pandemic to Middle East Peace has the amazing gall to accuse through totally debunked innuendo a lifetime public servant for nepotism and you believe it? Really???

“5. We know that former appointees of the Obama administration, including fired FBI personnel, have been hired by Liberal Democrat news media organizations to bad mouth the Trump administration. No conflict of interest there.”

Yes, and former stalinists were hired to badmouth Stalin. Poor Stalin’s memory, ruined, ruined by traitors.

“6. We know that the big Internet companies routinely censor Conservatives.“

Yah, we KNOW that . . . . We know that Fox News also censors Liberals. I’m shocked, shocked to find out that all media Is not perfectly unbiased in their reporting! I guess we should have the guvmint regulate those Commies, right?

“7. Is the Marxist connection that difficult to understand?“

We are financially bond up with China? Corporations are more interested in their profits than idealism? This is big news Tom, and right here you are the first to break it! You should get a Pulitzer, but you know, the liberal media Illuminati will never give it to you.

“8. I know, because I have actually done some research, that news media reports about Trump “lies”, “racist remarks”, or “stupid sayings”, consist of nothing more than words taken out of context. Trump’s behest a Trump Hotel”

So besides being an expert lecturer on Epidemiology, the Law, Government, Scripture, the Modern Democratic State, and who knows what else, you are a scholarly elite expert on the media as well. Tom you constantly amazing me with your autodidactIc genius.

My neck is to stiff to go on, but I have really enjoyed this. Good luck with the conspiracy theories. It’s still three months away, but for right now most of America wants to know why, if baseball, with all their resources and financial motivation to do so, can’t figure out a way open safely like sports are elsewhere in the world, how are the rest of us ever going to get back to some form of normalcy. The “pretending this isn’t happening” strategy doesn’t even seem to be working any more in the Trump states. I know, I live in one.

          2. @tsalmon

            1. The Washington Free Beacon did not pay for the Steele Dossier.
            https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/once-more-for-good-measure-conservatives-didnt-fund-the-steele-dossier

None of the people Mueller convicted of process crimes were convicted of anything that had to do with colluding with the Russians.

Trumps “fixer” is joke. He was the only person the Mueller team succeeded in convincing to lie, and his lies fizzled.

I suggest you take a good look at what those rats did and that ridiculous judge is still doing to General Flynn. If that is not judicial malpractice, what is?

            2. The heads of the FBI used that secretive tribunal to spy on Trump. The Steele Dossier provided their excuse They abused the FISA process four times to get permission to spy. They lied to the court. The people who did that belong in jail. They lied repeatedly to the court, and we know the motive.

            3. Unnamed sources should not be taken seriously even by a high school student. What has that got to do with Communists?

90 percent of the news media is owned by five corporations. Big companies used the media they own to influence the political process, that is, to get their preferred candidates elected. That sort of thing has been going on since the founding, but it is probably as bad as it has ever been. Without instruction in Christian wisdom we are gullible as Hell.

            4. This is public record. Biden is on video. His son was on the corporate board. Trump released the transcript of his call. No brainer! So you blow smoke. Silly!

            5. There is a difference between hiring “sources” who are known liars and hiring defectors from a communist regime. Subtle difference, no doubt about it (sarcasm, just in case you didn’t get it).

            6. Fox News censors Liberals! That’s a hoot. Fox News is an Internet company?😂

            7. The point about the big corporations is that the are taking an active role in the election, and their interest is clearly about money, not doing the right thing.
The last thing I want is Pulitzer. No honor attached to that award. Kind of like getting the Nobel Peace prize.

            8. Finding out what Trump said in context is comparable to getting a PhD? You got a diploma for me?🤔

I was wondering about your neck. I had to retire because sitting all day at work was becoming too much. Blogging is just asking for trouble, but I try to avoid doing it for long periods in the same posture all the time.

That is not especially difficult to explain. We are trying to prevent EVERYONE from getting COVID-19, but it is too contagious.

The best is the enemy of the good. — Commonly attributed to Voltaire (from => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_is_the_enemy_of_good)

The virus is highly contagious, but it is not particularly dangerous unless you are nearing 78 years old. If we let everyone decide for themselves what they want to do about it, COVID-19 would not be a big problem.

We obviously need to protect nursing homes, and we can help those who don’t feel safe self-isolate. The damn virus would then spread among those who don’t fear it. Since we cannot stop COVID-19 from spreading, that is the best alternative.

Would some people get sick? Yes, and some would even die. Nevertheless, COVID-19 will eventually do what viruses do, fizzle out because there are not enough people left to infect. Then we could reopen the nursing homes a bit, and even paranoid grand parents would feel safe enough to hug their grand children.

          3. This one says it all:

“The heads of the FBI used that secretive tribunal to spy on Trump.”

Yes, and space aliens flew them to Mars to plan their secret conspiracy. Elvis lives there full time now, he and JFK Jr. It turns out that anti-malaria drugs actually prevent all disease and cure every ailment, Even the death thing, but the secret society at the FBI, CIA, and Defense Department has been keeping it secret, at least until Trump found out and Tweeted out the secret to his special followers. Black Live Matter knew, but because they really believe that ONLY “black lives”, not “all lives”, matter, they wanted it only for the black privileged. Instead of 40 acres and a mule, they now want nothing less than immortality. Did you know that the Chinese use 5G to spread COVID-19, not the Chinese Government, ALL Chinese? Be afraid, be very afraid! Yawn….

After the economic news showed some of the crappiest numbers ever, Trump Tweeted this morning that we should delay the election. Really . . . he did that. Even Faux News said that made Trump look pretty desperate. Trump is so kooky that he makes reality seem fake. The guy can dominate a news cycle though, even if it’s only to make him look even more sad and incompetent for another 24 hours.

The stiff neck is something new. Docs say it’s from the injection and should go away in a few days. I hope so because I want things to get better rather than worse. Call me an hopeless optimist. 😉

          4. @tsalmon

You don’t know what is going on so I must be a conspiracy theorist, and that funny? Well, I suppose it is ironic.

The Constitution says the President’s term will end January 20th. So, I don’t think we can postpone the election. Trump is trolling the news media so he can bring attention to tweets like this.
            https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1288818160389558273

            He said as much.
            https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1288932940337090561

So, now you can read this.
            https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1288933078287745024

            And this.
            https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1288602262567153664

            And this.
            https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1288809157722877952

That is how difficult it is to get the jerks to cover anything besides what benefits the Democratic Party.

          5. “Trump is trolling the news media so he can bring attention to tweets like this.“

So we have a pandemic raging out of control, the worst economic numbers since they started keeping such numbers, racial and civil strife, and on the day we are burying one of the greatest civil rights icons ever, that’s when little Donald decides he’s not getting enough attention from the media and adoration from his acolytes. You’re basically saying that our President is a baby man . . . And you want to re-elect that?

          6. @tsalmon

            Changing the subject again?

Look up the 20 Amendment. Then think about what happens if we cannot count the vote. Look up how mail-in balloting is working.

    2. Wow. I mean….just, WOW.
I don’t even know where to begin.
I’m not even sure I understand the reasoning here but I’ll try.
You believe primarily white supremacists and anarchist weirdos are responsible for the mob violence in these very very liberal cities. They’re spray painting BLM, strangely, but that’s their “cover” I guess?
They’re doing this so that Trump can “send in the storm troopers” to attack “his white supremacist base” because this helps him somehow.
Getting the economy back on track would not help him, only creating chaos helps the president who was in charge of the best economy we’ve ever seen and lowest unemployment rate just seven months ago when the liberals were all saying we needed a recession to beat Trump).

How do we even know the cop who killed Floyd was racist?
Is there some indication other than he killed a black man (while several other “racist” cops were watching, to include a black LEO)? For all I know, he killed a white man the week before.
Meanwhile, crime rates are going through the roof in all the major liberal cities.
I guess it’s just white supremacists at work. They aren’t living in the mountains, they’re all gathered in liberal cities like Portland attacking law enforcement and breaking things as a grand ruse to frame the antifa/BLM folks.

      1. Liz,

Nope, not even close to what I’m saying, but nice try at mischaracterizing (you really would make a great lawyer(.

I lived in the Pacific NW for almost 20 years. (I was also based in LA and Alaska). I love the place, but I put absolutely no limit on the sheer variety of different kinds of kooks there, both Right and Left Wingnuts. Nor do I give the overly idealistic politicians trying to actually govern that nutsoup much credit either. I‘m not a lefty, an anarchist, a righty or a Communist. If I were gonna label myself, I say I’m an every day pragmatist who tries to love as God would have me love, but I rarely get even close. After spending much of my active duty military career as a Cold Warrior, I’m hardly likely to either be taken in by those wrascally Communist devils nor to believe that the unfettered market will save my soul either.

I’m just pointing out the obvious. Trump making a big announcing of it and then surging paramilitary forces to stop the anarchists (but not the Right Wing Nut Jobs) and save that Democrat state from itself is as inflammatory as it is ridiculous. It electrifies the violent kooks with all their various agendas, and it brings out in droves the nonviolent neoflower children and liberal veterans who get caught in the crossfire. Sparking such a scene is not good for the law enforcement officers either. Apparently this is what Trump has time to interrupt his golfing and tweeting and Goya products pushing for during an international health and economic crisis.

Let’s talk reality here for a minute. Obama inherited an economy in financial free fall and turned over one to Trump that had a nine year growth period. And Trump is about to turn over Depression era unemployment and an exponentially grown health crisis, if not worse, to Joe Biden to fix. Meanwhile, the leaderless Senate Republicans are in complete disarray on what to do because Trump won’t decide one way or another for fear that, if he takes responsibility for anything, what Republican will he blame and throw under the bus’s when it goes wrong. (Except, of course, Trump won’t sign anything unless it putS a ridiculously expensive new FBI headquarters next the Trump Hotel(.

As for BLM, I’m kinda agreeing with what you wrote earlier, especially with regard to Portland. This only tangentially has to do with black lives mattering anymore, and it certainly not being run by that organization. This has to do with angry white kids out virtue signaling and disgruntled kooks of all ages pushing their own agenda. If you think BLM is running a riot in Portland or even Seattle, then can you share some of that good Rocky Mountain weed with a brother being deprived here in Trumpland.

        1. We almost moved to Portland. It was on the short list, until we heard about the terrible way the place was run, and the fact it was home to some of the largest homeless encampments in the nation.
Austin/Houston was also on the list, but removed for different reasons. We decided we wanted to keep our sons out of the cities in general, and schools that required a resume (starting at age three) just to play football in particular.

Well…it’s hard to know what to believe, but from the look of things the local law enforcement weren’t doing a very good job of protecting the federal courthouse. The governor did send in the National Guard. She (by contrast) announced that they wouldn’t be armed, and they were just there to sort of stand by. How did that work out? Again, hard to know what to believe but in my world warning a population to stop pillaging and vandalizing before you put troops in place is a good thing. If folks want to come out to protect and support the pillagers/destroyers/anarchists by playing human shield they kinda get what they have coming for supporting and enabling that. Their other option is to simply stop being violent, destructive and confrontational.

Per “right wing nut jobs”, again…it is hard to know what to believe. However, I have a great deal of certainty that when law enforcement are attacked and they arrest people for it, they aren’t asking:
“hey are you a commie lib or conservative?”
          “Dude…I’m a conservative (wink wink)”
“Okay, this guy clean, let him go”
So if they aren’t locking up conservatives it is probably because they aren’t the ones looting, attacking police and destroying property.

          1. Per the economy…when things shut down in a completely unprecedented way, that’s going to impact the economy adversely. Considering we had the best economy pretty much ever only seven months ago (whomever you wish to credit for it), we were in far better shape to deal with it than most of the rest of the world.
            The Q2 GDP :
            US -9.5%
            Germany -10%
            Japan -11%
            France -17%
            Italy -17%

Do they all have bad orange men in charge?
Per sports, I don’t keep up with that, but as far as I know only the ROK has resumed with the packed stadiums.
And they have had a spike in corona so who knows what will happen.
They were about two to three months ahead of us.

          2. Liz,

When we moved to a Seattle suburb 21 years ago, the mayor was promising to end homelessness in ten years. When we moved, the homelessness was worse than ever. There’s no one thing that can end homelessness, despite all the demagoguery of libs and conservatives. One of the problems with many of the cities like Seattle and Portland is that they are such attractive places to live (parks, festivals, outdoor recreation nearby, excellent universities, light rail, sports teams, top notch museums and centers for performing arts, not to mention being tech hubs) that the City Fathers/Mothers become victims of their own success. When everyone wants to live there, a lot of people can’t afford to live there. Even the burbs housing market was skyrocketing when we moved away. Our little house more than doubled in value in just the last few years that we lived there.

One of the cities that I loved to layover at was Salt Lake City, a fairly conservative place with the Mormon Temple being the defining feature downtown, but even they had their homeless problem. They actually started giving out free housing to homeless addicts because it was more cost effective than the emergency room bills. Like many efforts, it was working to some extent, but wasn’t a panacea.

On the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we are very conservative and also have a bad homelessness problem. I probably hand out $10 or $20 per week (for food, I hope) to the most pathetic ones when I’m out jogging down the sea wall.

I think trying to make intractable issues like healthcare, homelessness, racism, crime and poverty a divisive, black or white, partisan food fight (as Trump is doing), is about as sick as it is useless. Love is a an ambiguous journey, not a ultimate destination. Love often gives us slow progress, but the process, the individual and institutional effort itself is the point and the reward, not that we will ever find ourselves at some point of perfection, in this world at least. In some ways, it’s like wacamole – humans will adapt their selfishness faster than the selflessness that comes to meet it.

Both sides right now childishly think that they can come up with ultimate market or government fixes to the problems of the human heart simply by rooting for their team and destroyIng the other team. I already live in a state where one party dominates and that lack of competition breeds corruption – the same will inevitably be true of either Republican or Democrat national hegemony, but in contrast we’ve seen that honest bipartisan pull and compromise really can work better.

On the other hand, this extreme tribalism becomes self defeating to finding any progress in such intractable human dilemmas. Trump is the most flawed, incorrigible, corrupt and incompetent leader by any modern standard, but in their hatred of Democrats, many Republicans are willing to go down with the sick ship that Trump is running rather than simply see the obvious. This is not good for either political party and not good for the country. It is as important that Republicans resoundingly defeat Trump and throw him out as it is for the Dems, maybe more so. Do you at all see what I mean? Probably not yet, but maybe in the hindsight of five or ten years from now . . . .

          3. Well, there are a lot of variables with homelessness (primarily drug addiction and mental illness). I won’t get into now. The solution isn’t, in my opinion, to penalize the private home owners by letting them squat on private property.
            https://katu.com/news/local/portland-commissions-plan-to-allow-room-to-rest-sparks-controversy

At any rate, I also agree with extreme tribalism being self-defeating. But you might want to reread the post you wrote that I first responded to above. Also Pelosi’s tweet the inspired Citizen Tom to write this thread. In the course of human history the worst human conflicts are inspired not by hate but fear. So all this talk of stormtroopers, Hitler et al….where do you think this is leading?
Godwin is dead. You have killed him.

          4. Remember all this started with pink hat protests the minute Trump was elected. He was going to lock up all women in concentration camps. It has never stopped since…the shiny object has just moved around.
It’s been Hitler, Hitler, Hitler that whole time. It’s Hitlers all the way down.
Meanwhile actual reality and results point to the opposite.

          5. Seriously, all anyone has to do is not throw bricks at police and fire bomb property and the “stormtroopers” will leave you alone. That’s too hard, apparently. Anyone shutting down this nonsense is “literally Hitler”.

  2. Tom,

Trump has mentioned numerous times that the riots are occurring in cities run by liberal democrats.

Why not only as you stated, the police who knelt on victim was employed in a liberal democrat run city never seems to be brought up or answered for some reason.

    Sad.

Good post to help us discern why they don’t vote out the people managing their cities.

Or march to complain about gangs and drugs in Chicago who are shooting each other and a lot of innocent victims.

If anyone can answer why, I am interested.

I wrote a post this week to relate the marchers to the infamous football player “wrong way Charlie”, who picked up a fumble and ran way to score for the wrong team.

Seems to be a direct correlation that the marchers are doing, in my opinion, protesting about the wrong team of legislators running their communities.,

    Regards and goodwill blogging.

    1. @Scatterwisdom

I was almost certain Obama would not be elected a second time. I was wrong. Part of the problem is that Democrats have corrupted our election system. How much? Don’t know, but mail in voting won’t help. Our election personnel, including the volunteers we count upon to keep the vote honest, lose control of the ballots when those ballots are mailed out.

The bigger issues reside with our educational institutions and the news media. Because our educational institutions don’t instruct our young people in wisdom, not enough of us know how to discern the truth when large proportions of the news media lie to us.

      1. Tom,
Sadly, a lot of your concerns have potential to become reality in the next election, in my opinion.
        Regards and goodwill blogging.

  3. Why, don’t you like living in an Orwellian “1984” world, Tom?

    War is peace!

Here’s a great example of peaceful protesting going on in Portland, as exposed by WH Press Secretary, Kayleigh McEnany. Everyone in America should see the video she shows about 2:35 in…

    1. @Mel Wild

      Thanks for the video.

No, I was happy to get through 1984 with Orwell’s nightmare coming to life. 2020, unfortunately, is not looking so great.

I would like to say I am optimistic about the next election, but after Obama’s reelection I don’t know what to expect. I am still amazed by Seattle and Portland. Why aren’t the people who live there recalling their out of control leaders?

I am afraid the Liberal Democrat news media and the public school system have set the stage for some very difficult times. People refuse to see the stupidity of Socialism. Instead, they demand it. Most don’t know what they are supporting. When their leaders are in power they will soon begin to purge any opposition by sending many of their neighbors to death camps. In fact, many of the true believers will go there. They will demand what was promised, and they will receive what comes from worshiping the state.

      1. This video is a preview of coming attractions if the radical left gets their way. Personally, I’m hopeful. I think most people are getting fed up with it. They’re just not in the news. I don’t think this going to go well for the Dems for several reasons.
