Is not Jenny Durkan a lovely lady? Is she not better than the rest of us? Does she not deserve to treat the citizens of her city like they are her personal tinker toys? Is it not a wonder that she deigns to rule the citizens of Seattle? In fact, Mayor Durkan treated the citizens of her city, her tinker toys, to a summer of love, Seattle Mayor Durkan: CHAZ Has A “Block Party Atmosphere,” Could Turn Into “Summer Of Love” (realclearpolitics.com), a “block party”.
Unfortunately, Mayor Durkan finally had to end the block party when the partiers showed up at her home, Seattle mayor slams protesters for showing no ‘regard for’ her ‘safety’ as demonstrators circle her home (washingtonexaminer.com).
Durkan’s office issued a statement on the protests, saying Sawant joined the protests “without regard for the safety of the Mayor and her family.”
“Mayor Durkan and her family are in the state program to keep their address confidential because of the death threats mostly related to her work as Seattle’s U.S. Attorney under President Obama,” a statement from the mayor’s office issued Sunday read. “Instead of working to make true change, Councilmember Sawant continues to choose political stunts. Tonight she did so without regard for the safety of the Mayor and her family. The Mayor was not even home — she was working at City Hall. Seattle can and should peacefully demonstrate but should not put families and children at risk.” (from here (washingtonexaminer.com))
It seems the mayor was disappointed that the partiers could not find her. Apparently, that was a sign to the mayor that the party should end. So, she issued and updated executive order, (UPDATED) Mayor Durkan Issues Executive Order Regarding Capitol Hill Protest Zone (spdblotter.seattle.gov). Note what the police chief added.

Today, Mayor Jenny Durkan issued a 48-hour public safety emergency order to vacate the East Precinct/Cal Anderson area. Seattle police will be in the area this morning enforcing the Mayor’s order.
This order, and our police response, comes after weeks of violence in and around the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest zone, including four shootings, resulting in multiple injuries and the deaths of two teenagers.
As I have said, and I will say again, I support peaceful demonstrations. Black Lives Matter, and I too want to help propel this movement toward meaningful change in our community.
But enough is enough.
The CHOP has become lawless and brutal. Four shootings–-two fatal—robberies, assaults, violence and countless property crimes have occurred in this several block area.
My job, and the job of our officers, is to protect and serve our community. This is not an end to our department’s engagement with demonstrators. We must continue our efforts to build trust and redefine our roles as guardians in our city. I will continue to work with the Community Police Commission, the Office of Police Accountability, the Inspector General, the Mayor, the Seattle City Council and ALL of our community and social justice partners in the coming weeks to encourage peace and to begin meaningful dialog about reenvisioning public safety in our community.

Undoubtedly, the citizens who live and work in the CHAZ/CHOP are disappointed that their summer of love/block party has ended. Nevertheless, the Seattle police force easily dominated the streets and cleared the area, Seattle police retake stationhouse in CHOP, arrest multiple protesters following Durkan orders (foxnews.com). Is it not amazing what the police can do when they have the support of the officials we elect? Was not her ladyship, Mayor Jenny Durkan, most gracious to help stage a summer of love/block party?

My guess is that she wanted CHOP cleared out in order to limit the bad publicity from the lawsuit.

I don’t know for sure what is driving Durkan. However, the fact is that she is not unusual for a Democrat elected official. She had to know she was creating a costly mess.

Hurt the president? Strange way to do it, but it might have worked.
When Trump did not send troops into Seattle, the mess slow blew up in Durkan’s face. Had Trump sent in troops, the responsibility for the mess would have become his. That is why Trump may talk about sending in troops, but he has to wait until it becomes obvious that the state and local authorities have lost control.
When does it become obvious that state and local authorities have lost control? Because of the lying Liberal Democrat news media, that may not be obvious.
I think they are allowing the chaos so that more and more damage can occur — only putting the country deeper into the hell handbasket—at that point they can turn to the President and say ‘look what a mess you’ve gotten us into—this has all happened on your watch’—nevermind it was their watch that got us into this mess!
