We can’t complain the true believers among the save-the-planet crowd lack energy. In fact, that’s often the problem. It is hard to find someone more dangerous than an industrious person with “good intentions”. Occasionally, however, industrious people with “good intentions” produce good work even if it is not exactly what they intended.
Are you a Conservative Republican? Then check out How Much Further Could Virginia Republicans Lurch to the Extreme Right on Tuesday? (bluevirginia.us).
Lowkell especially “recommends” Geary Higgins, 13th Senate District, and Tina Freitas, 24th Senate District, but he has “good words” for Conservatives across the state. Since Higgins would represent my district, I have checked him out. I concur with lowkell’s assessment. Higgins is definitely the Conservative in this race.
After you vote for one of the Conservatives lowkell has identified, please thank him for helping to provide us with such clear choices. Otherwise, please take the time to help lowkell know what he needs to do to better identity Conservatives. No doubt he will appreciate your extreme and deplorable assistance.
Why do y’all insist on calling yourselves deplorable? Hillary said HALF of Trump supporters are deplorable: the racists, the mysogynists, the robber barons, etc. The other half are well meaning folks who care only about not murdering babies and not wanting to pay taxes.
When Trump calls Meghan Markel a nasty woman for opposing his policies, I identify with her and other nasty women of similar politics. Similarly, if I was a Trump supporter who knew I wasn’t racist, misogynistic, or a robber baron, I’d NOT identify with that label. I wouldn’t call myself deplorable because I’m not deplorable and I wouldn’t want to associate myself with those people.
P.S. Who’s going to pay to fix the main roads into Naval Station Norfolk which are impassable whenever there’s a heavy downpour (a problem that has been getting increasingly worse as these storms become more frequent as the climate changes)?
@Catherine
Why “deplorables”? Well, it is honor to be insulted by some people. We are known both by our friends and our enemies.
Trump did not call Meghan Markle nasty. He said she was nasty when she attacked his politics. Overall, he wished her well, and he had positive things to say about her.

The news media has always taken sides, and these days some in the news media will deceive us.
Who is going to pay for the roads? I think the people who use them should pay. When we give our money to politicians, they buy what their donors want. So we get traffic jams and flooded roads.
Global warming does not seem to be a problem. Subsidence is a problem. There are various things that cause subsidence. The east coast is slowly sliding into the Atlantic. Pumping well water probably makes it worse.
Lived in the Houston area in the 1980’s. Because of all the water wells and I guess a few oil wells too, some areas had subsided 6 feet. Made the flooding worse. Since hurricanes frequent the area, when I bought a house there, I went looking for the highest ground I could find.
@Tom
Just a heads-up: It’s all of the above, thermal expansion of the oceans including. While the east coast is not sliding into the ocean, it still does go down. The US Geological Survey reported subsidence rates of 2.4 mm/year to 2.8 mm/year from 1940 to 1970 at the coast of the Chesapeake Bay area and higher rates further inlands where the aquifers are being pumped out. Local sea level rise from 1927 to 2006 was 3.9 mm annually, i.e. while more than half of that is to be attributed to subsidence from aquifer compaction and post-glacial isostatic adjustment the rest is due to global warming. Thermal expansion of the oceans has picked up speed over the last century, over the last 20 years of satellite measurements we’ve been at 3.3 mm/year.
So your coast is being hit by a double whammy.

@marmoewp
Thanks for the article. Should be interesting.
Some scientists have been making the case for global warming for at least fifty years. Because too many politicians hate to let a “crisis” go to waste, all our government does is fund those “studies” that “prove” global warming, renamed climate change because the public has grown increasingly skeptical of the warming.
The global warming predictions have just been too far off the mark, and the proposed “solutions” have been Socialist power grabs. Even if global warming were both real and manmade, all Socialism would do (which is what the so-called environmental activists demand) is make things worse.
Frankly, I am more concerned about the very real possibility of a solar outburst destroying the solid state electronics we have become so dependent upon. Yet instead of solving a problem we can do something about, our governments preach the horrors of global warming and offer absurd solutions.
Anyway, weather patterns seem to run in cycles of some sort. Like as not we have entered a cooling period. At least, I have enjoyed the last several summers. Worldwide pattern? Shrug. Don’t know, but the polar bear population is growing.
I recommend to check the sources you rely on.
Is that why the IPCC was founded in 1988 as the IPCC instead of the IPGW?!?!?
Similarly, if I was a Trump supporter who knew I wasn’t racist, misogynistic, or a robber baron, I’d NOT identify with that label. I wouldn’t call myself deplorable because I’m not deplorable and I wouldn’t want to associate myself with those people.
In my world, if one isn’t a racist, et al….there’s no defense required.
It’s up to the person making the accusations to provide evidence thereof.
And sometimes the best answer to “when will you stop beating your wife?” is just, “gee, I don’t know…maybe some day”.
It should be mentioned it’s pretty hard to prove a non-existence.
For example, (just to make the point) I say you are a racist bank robber Catherine. Now prove me wrong.
