ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL

This is a reblog of a pro-life post. As the title indicates, the subject is that mysterious assertion, “all men are created equal”.

The author of “ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL” kindly linked to a couple of my old posts. Why? If you doubt that a baby has a right to life, then please pay particular attention to this post: AN EXAMPLE OF BIGOTRY — PART 6. I hope that post will help those who have not carefully the matter to understand two things.

  1. What did Jefferson mean by the assertion that “all men are created equal”?
  2. Where and how does the Bible affirm that we are all created equal?

Newborn on scale (from here)

An infant is small and tiny. All a baby does is suck, gurgle, sleep, mess its diapers, and cry. A baby is so helpless we cannot help referring to such a little one as an “it”. Yet our hearts go out to these little ones. Don’t our hearts know they too are made in the image of God? Therefore, when Democrats blocked the passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection bill, one blogger titled her post this way, What Possible reason ..?

Senator Ben Sasse made a simple case for his bill.

This isn’t about restricting access to abortion. We’re talking about making sure that newborn babies are treated with dignity and receive care whether they’re born in the maternity wing or an abortion clinic. This is the bare minimum in humane treatment.

Monday’s vote should not be difficult. A lot of debates aren’t straightforward…

  1. I was making my point based on the title of this post. The same people who advocate abortion on demand are probably the same type who would be up in arms against the death penalty for an ax murderer.

Yeah, and the same people who advocate the death penalty are probably the same type who would be up in arms against abortion or infanticide. Interesting factoids, but probably better to judge each issue on its own merits.

      1. Why does this not even remotely surprise me? I find it to be convoluted that people in some cases may oppose abortion and yet support the death penalty, however, some support the death penalty while being in opposition to abortion. The hypocrisy is absurd.

          1. I am very much pro-life. The point I am trying to make is regarding the hypocrisies displayed by some people on both sides of the aisle regarding being for the death penalty while opposing abortion and vice versa.

Glad to hear you are pro-life.

If we want to understand an idea, we usually do better to keep things simple. Abortion and the death penalty are two distinctly different issues that are easily discussed separately. When we bring them together, we may think we can score “points”, but it just complicates matters, and scoring “points” just angers people.

We already have equal protection under the law. In fact, we risk distorting the concept.

When people ask that question, they usually have an agenda that goes beyond equal protection under the law. A constitutional republic is designed to allow people to go about their business through voluntary associations. It isn’t about forcing people to associate with people they don’t like or adopting beliefs they find repugnant.

      1. Tom, since the topic of marriage is never mentioned in the U.S. Constitution, a Constitutional Amendment to legally define the issue should be null and void.

You are not making any sense. Brevity may be the soul of wit, but only works when no clarity is lost.

Marriage is defined by history, the limits of biological practicalities, and God’s Word (for those who care). If judges weren’t so silly with foolish pride, we would not be debating the definition of marriage. Unless you are God, just saying something is so doesn’t make it so.

Still, this is post about abortion, not marriage. I am not sure what Constitutional Amendment you are talking about. I am not sure what issue you want to discuss. If you have an agenda, would you mind being upfront about it?

  2. Tom,

Great series on Rights vs. bigotry, my accolades,

Appears we as a Nation, have progressed, or “turned away” in a great degree from the bigotry of ancient slavery on the issue of Equal Rights.

However, the issue of abortion, we have regressed, or “turned toward “away in a greater degree to pagan equal Rights of infanticide.

All thanks to a progressive, or is its regressive, political party wisdom or folly over time?
Not certain bigotry is the “right” category to relate paganism.

How does Paganism relate to bigotry? There is an answer. Pagans do not believe that all men are made in the image of God, that we can all be children of God.

Most religious beliefs exist to justify the powerful. The powerful want an excuse to exploit and lord over the weak. So they create gods to justify themselves. They even declare their own divinity.

Christianity does not justify man. It explains how God redeems those who repent and believe in Him.

      1. Tom,

Well said explanation except I wonder if I could persuade you to amend your explanation of Christianity a bit.

        For Example

        You stated

“Christianity does not justify man. It explains how God redeems those who repent and believe in Him.”

        Perhaps instead?

“Christianity does not justify man as being equal to God. It explains how God redeems those who obtain the knowledge to understand how His Spiritual Wisdom and Love can lead them on their paths in life to be instilled with fearlessness, joy and happiness, if only they repent from human weakness and folly to trust to believe in Him.”

        Regards and good will blogging.

I would like to say it is shocking! The baby is born. We aren’t even talking about an abortion. However, the Democrats always push the limits. Life is not sacred to these people. Birth was always a fig leaf. “It’s My body” was just an excuse. It has always been about power, the power to say who lives and who dies.

I don’t even think they know what to do with the power to kill babies. They just want it because.
