Doug has a blog. What is it about? Read the “picture” above (Click on it if you want to read the clearer image on Doug’s website.). That’s what Doug says his blog is about. Is Doug right? Well, I suspect Doug is confused about his motives. Contrary to his assertions otherwise, Doug’s opposition to Trump is based upon Liberal Democrat ideology.
Here is exhibit “A”, Trump’s Menagerie Of The Absurd. Doug does two things with this post. First he attacks what perceives as the gullibility of Trump’s supporters. Then he lists a bunch of issues that Trump is supposedly horribly wrong about. Throughout Doug takes the Liberal Democrat position. Let’s go through Doug’s lists.
Trump’s Supporters Are Gullible.
Every Trump supporter should ask themselves a question…
Here Doug explains the high turnout in this year’s midterm election without an actual explanation. We are just supposed to presume the election was about Trump’s innumerable foibles. The hysteria in the news media had nothing to do with it. The fact that lots of people are sick and tired of Liberal Democrats “transforming” our nation had nothing to do with it.
Here’s another question.
Here Doug cites a poll. Personally, I am puzzled as to why anyone cares about news media polls anymore. People lie too easily with such statistics. Has anyone noticed how biased the news media is? Is that bias still secret to some people? Guess so.
I ask these two questions to help illustrate that the average Trump supporter
Here Doug reaches a conclusion. What is he trying to say? Well, I take it to mean anyone who supports Donald Trump does not have a clue.

Doug heads this section with this:

Doug apparently conceives of Donald Trump as some kind of evil demagogue.
The greatest issue I personally have is Trump’s most glaring fault…
Doug thinks Trump lies constantly. Why? Here is his “proof”.
The Washington Post has been keeping track; over 5,000 to date going into this last October alone.
The Washington Post is not an objective news source. These guys now praise George H. W. Bush (recently deceased) just so they have a excuse to attack Donald Trump and Conservatives (see George H.W. Bush represented a different kind of Republicanism). That is sort of ghoulish.
When Doug expands upon what he calls a lie, it is apparent that all that is required is a difference of opinion. When Trump takes credit for low unemployment, that’s a lie? Seriously?
Doug also thinks of Trump’s campaign promises as lies.
Immigration
Doug would have us believe illegal immigration does not pose a problem. He has trouble connecting the rotten Obama economy with decreased illegal immigration. I suppose he also thinks the flood of illegal immigrants into California has been great for the state. Doesn’t everyone want one-party rule? Don’t we all want to balkanize our nation by language and various ethnic groups? Is the very idea that we should insist that anyone who wants to become an American be able to contribute to economy, speak English, understand our system of government, and want to be an American just ridiculously absurd?
Rescinding Obama Era climate restrictions
Here Doug reaffirms the “science” of climate change. Since Trump does not believe in climate change, Trump is an science denier, that is, an infidel of the worst kind.
His Claim He Made The Great Economy
This part reminds me of Barack Obama’s claims that he is responsible for the booming economy and even America’s increased oil production. What is funny about these claims is what has Liberal Democrats upset. Trump is undoing what Obama did. It is amazing Liberal Democrats cannot grasp such an obvious disconnect.
Bad Trade Deals; The World Is Ripping Us Off
Doug’s main complaint here is that Trump is not competent to make trade deals. Trump is just a business man, generally incompetent. Weird! Who would be more competent to negotiate trade deals than a businessman who has run an international business empire?
In Fact, Let’s discuss His International Diplomacy
Here Doug tells us how dreadfully upset he is about Trump’s foreign policy. If it was not for the fact Doug says CNN is his favored news source, what Doug says here would be inexplicable after eight years of Obama.
ISIS
Doug disagrees with Trump taking credit for reducing ISIS to mincemeat. This is silly. ISIS existed because of Obama’s ineptitude, and Obama was not getting rid of ISIS. Does anyone think Hillary Clinton would have dealt effectively with ISIS? Why?Clinton’s idea of effective diplomacy was a reset button (see International diss: Russia’s Sergey Lavrov says failed ‘reset’ was ‘invention of Hillary Clinton’).
Antagonist-In-Chief –
This part is kind of funny-sad. Doug is upset that Trump has unpleasant things to say about the “deep state”, some of the appointees Obama left behind. He confuses Trump’s criticism of particular people with criticism of entire agencies. Doug really needs to broaden the range of news sources he uses.
Cabinet Appointments
Here Doug repeats more of the mantra. Trump is guilty of appointing business people, and he has had to replace some of the people he appointed. How criminally incompetent!
Actually, Trump has appointed a broader range of people than just business executives, but Liberal Democrats hate business.

Personnel is policy. Trump is putting people he knows (business people too) into positions where they can implement his policy. Of course, some appointments don’t work out. Trump’s people occupy jobs that even in ordinary times would be high stress. Anyone who goes to work for Trump clearly is making a sacrifice. Some will be unable to withstand the “resistance”. Others may find they lack the skills they need, even otherwise competent people. Making government work the way it should work is politics, and politics, as a wise man once said, ain’t beanbag.
Conclusion
In spite of the Liberal Democrat resistance, Trump is succeeding. Given the magnitude of the resistance, Trump’s success is quite remarkable. Very few people — almost no one else — could have accomplished what Trump has accomplished.
Trump’s success is what has the Liberal Democrat news media upset. Make no mistake! Liberal Democrats don’t want Trump to succeed. Since Doug believes CNN, that is what has him upset. He believes stuff that is not true.
CNN cannot point to anything Trump has done that is anything close to impeachable. So they make stuff up, and they attack his character.

No question, CS, Tom has indeed allowed me into his blog from the beginning and for a Conservative blogger as he is, not all such bloggers like a “naysayer” to their opinions trolling around. Heck, a couple Conservative blogs just plain never approve my replies.. or are so afraid of alternative thought that they turn off replies just to “hear” themselves post. Tom’s been more than fair and while I think his politics suck (as he most assuredly thinks does mine), I stick around in spite of the frequent religious diatribes he gets into. 🙂 He’s also got a bunch of good followers as well… and some of them I follow.

Well, it’s been my observation that a Divine Entity has no need for bodily functions in general, hence my suggestion that His absence of a heart was a physical reference and not a metaphorical suggestion. Trump, on the other hand is alleged to be human… in his case the metaphor applies.

Since no one else can read your mind — share your consciousness — that would be God. Of course, He doesn’t have to ask questions.
When we pray, we are suppose to be the ones making solicitous spiritual queries. Most of the time, however, I think most of us put off praying until we are desperate. You seem desperate. You may wish to take your concerns about Trump to God. We are suppose to pray for our leaders, even for the ones we think bad to make wise decisions.
Seems to me that contrary to general consensus, the time TO pray would be during some level of desperation. I find it would in NO way suggest that the only time one would “need” God would be during desperation because it’s inherent in our existence that God would be with us all the time… monitoring our every move and being part of that within us that checks ourselves in what we do. I tend to think prayers should not be used lightly and whimsically.. so while I may exhibit some my political “desparation” Trump, to me, is not worth wasting a prayer on. Then again, the Almighty should already be aware of what he’s doing so if He’s not “fixed” it so far then Trump’s existence to us must be a test. 🙂

Interesting response.
Christians have a phrase that indicates how we should live. We should strive to “walk with God”. What does that mean? It involves letting God live through us.
How do we allow God to live through us? Praying continually is part of it. Does praying continually mean being on your knees 24 x 7? No. That much I know.
Since I am no holy man, I cannot say I am an expert on this thing we call prayer. Nevertheless, God calls us His children. So long as we show our Father appropriate respect, I suspect He is pleased when we think of Him, share our troubles and concerns, and ask for guidance and help.
Is prayer enough? It is all some people have, but we are blessed with Bibles and people who have studied God’s Word with care. To fill the gaps between the times when God answers our prayers, we can and should study His Word.
As I’ve indicated before, I’ll not debate religion, although I might, and have, challenge a perspective or two that seems contrary, but it’s not my intent to diss anyone’s belief. Pray as you will for the reasons you feel that help you manage life.
Now..if Trump were a religious man he might want to pray because he’s getting deeper into the garbage he’s created. Now it seems Mar-a-lago has been employing illegal aliens. This is on top of the revelation that McCabe and Rosenstein opened an obstruction of justice on Trump on his firing Comey before Mueller was appointed. Likely this was passed to Mueller after his appointment. Things are starting to look bleak for the Big Guy. Prayer sounds good.

The Bible largely agrees with that sentiment. God will not give us everything we ask for. If we pray for something outside His will, we won’t get what we pray for.
The Book of James recommends praying for wisdom.
It is a funny thing. Absurd! Why, when God created it, would we give our loyalty to the world instead of God? If we were wise we could see we have corrupted the world. We could see our folly and turn back to God. Yet we are not wise. We don’t see our folly until the world has utterly failed us.

I follow your blog with great enthusiasm, Tom, because I have always trusted what you say because I hear righteousness coming through your posts — I appreciate your Christian stance on issues — That is something that is rare in these days of end-times turmoil and it is refreshing and uplifting. —
The Liberals have been suffering for a long time now from at least a couple of things … (1) a drastic slide to the more extreme “Left” and a seemingly incurable “Rage” because their icon, their “Candidate,” (Clinton) lost the election to President Trump. This seems to have ignited an unquenchable fury in them and an endless series of attacks on the President’s every thought, word and deed, (real or imagined thoughts, words and deeds.).
This state of affairs has been termed in some quarters as “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and if it is, in fact a “Syndrome,” then it follows that it is also a clinical mental aberration and its rantings and ravings can be safely ignored by the sane.
It has gotten so bad (This Trump derangement syndrome) that most of what I have witnessed coming from the Left who are affected by it these days is akin to some of the old news reels I have seen of an infamous European dictator in the Historical period 1939-45 as he stood screeching and screaming and pounding his podium at the height of his power and his angst against the rest of the world.
These poor souls need prayer more than criticism (and I am not suggesting that you are criticizing anybody. I know you are simply throwing light on a situation) but the problem with praying for them is that a lot of them deny God in all His Aspects and some of them refuse to believe that he even exists.
It is this form of Atheistic Agnosticism that gives rise to the oft-repeated adjective observation of some of these kinds of misled souls as “Godless Liberalism.”
Thanks for shining the light. I long since detached my attention from the source that you have highlighted because I felt that engaging with it was a consummate waste of time and emotional energy.

If I am worthy of any trust, it is because I point to the Bible and the One we can trust.
What about our Liberal Democrat brothers and sisters? Jesus commissioned us to spread His Gospel, and some of them know it. Imperfectly? I am afraid we are all guilty of that. None us understand God.
We cannot make someone accept the Gospel. All we can do is share the Gospel and live it as best we can. The Holy Spirit does the hard work.
So what to do? When we relate to others with differing political and religious views, here is at least part of the guidance I think we are suppose to follow.
Until we repent of our own sins, we have no business judging the sins of others. When people start behaving like brawling animals, there is nothing we can do for them.
The average Liberal Democrat has some conception of Matthew 7:6. However, because most think erroneously, “I am a good person,” many have little awareness of their need for repentance. In fact, we all have such a blind spot, some of us just more than others. All of us wish to believe, “I am a good person”. The born again just know that whatever good is within is of Jesus Christ.

Actually that’s not accurate, John, but understandable that a Trump Conservative misses the entire point. The “incurable rage” is that Trump won, NOT that Hillary lost. This misconception cost Trump supporters the House.

That is a distinction without a difference. Lots of Republicans in the House resigned. That created a large number of open seats. Given the ability of incumbents to hold their seat, odds are those people could have retained their seats if they had not resigned.
California is the big problem. It is becoming a one-party state that permits illegal aliens to vote. Frankly, when Democrats claim they won the majority of the vote, I don’t think the way they won is anything to brag about.
What about “TDS”? Is TDS really about Trump? Undoubtedly Trump irks Liberal Democrats, but that is mostly because he threatens their hold on power. What we are seeing Liberal Democrats manifest is Republican Derangement Syndrome. The Liberal Democrat news media hated on Nixon (even before Watergate), Reagan, and both the Bush’s. If Trump is hated more, that is because he actually fighting back.
What did earlier Republican presidents do? Nixon did something stupid. Reagan sought to charm voters. The Bush’s mostly ignored the news media’s efforts to demonize them. Trump, however, does not take it. He is calling out their lies.
You missed the point yet again. TDS is not a reflection of liberals losing power, it’s being upset at the loss of dignity, decency, traditional expectations of the Office of the President.. to a flagrant abuser of the public trust. It’s not about his agenda but his inability to carry it out with civility, respect, and any semblance of truth.

I will give you this much credit. You bitch and moan a lot, but you don’t sneak around and bite. I think you at least intend to post the truth.
What do I mean by biting? I use to write posts on chain emails. Someone would send me an email containing a story that appealed to their biases, and they would share it before thinking to check it out. My post would be what I found when I checked it out.
Whether we habitually bitch and moan or not, we all have to be careful we don’t spread malicious gossip. Just because a story is on TV or in a newspaper does not mean it conveys the truth. Because we each wish the truth was something other than what it is, we each need to verify our sources as best we can. As Ronald Reagan put it, “Trust, but verify.”
Not “I get it,”, “You Got it.” in mu opinion.

I can respect @Doug’s perspective, I don’t agree. However, I think it is paramount that criticism be levied daily, especially against any elected representative.
At the same time, I understand @Citizen Tom’s perspective. @Doug spoke in the “public square” so he should understand that his words have to potential to be examined and scrutinized.
Anyone with a blog is in the “public square”. Heck.. I have three blogs simmering in the public square. More to the point, friend, what makes you agree/disagree? Not to worry.. I’ll not be picking every objection to my opinion. I really don’t express because I think I am right… I express to understand why others think they are right. 🙂

I think trump is the most results driven president we have ever had.

China just recently gave up on their tariffs
America is more about Americans in the last two years that probably since the end of the revolution.
My biggest criticism of trump is his desire to implement more gun control.
Outside of that, he isn’t a conservative or a republican, he is simply about results and the bottom line.

I’m going for more of a few people sitting in a bar just having a conversation.
Ever since I was a kid and started playing with those 3.5 inch reel-to-reel portable tape recorders I was always a recording sound nut.. I was born too late for the radio dramas otherwise I’d have worked for them.. or even the TV industry as I got enamored with video production. Always been a hobby. So when podcasting started it was like.. radio-retro for me. I do ok on sound editing. I’m no professional by any stretch but as a hobbyist I like it and wished I could do more.
Your idea about talking in a bar environment is an interesting slant. The thing there is that it’s a little tough to do if you have a guest over the phone.. the tonal quality is very different. I have an idea or two if you wanna chat further on this via email. Send me your addy if you wish.

How ironic! You are complaining about what you perceive as the abuse of government power, but you won’t let the document that limits government power, the Constitution, do its job.
LOL, heaven forbid I ever try to step into a good bar fight! That said however, I continue to remain baffled by all the anti Trump venom. I am no closer to understanding and trying to empathize, then when I first started. Also, I’m rather enjoying the low unemployment rates, the work being done on the opioid crisis, and the general improvement in many people’s quality of life.

Anyway… I am sure anyone who cares the slightest to read what I wrote can understand what I said as it stands to your objections here. If nothing else, we’ve separately stated our views and your readership can make their own evaluations one way or the other.
Trump himself is deciding on his own decline but here’s the greater sadness to all this, Tom… none of this is helping America… and I am not just suggesting Trump’s behavior alone. Whatever the “new” Congress decides to pursue, whatever the result of the Mueller investigation reveals, whatever fight and “scorched earth” behavior Trump chooses to use to defend his position to the end in the future… and whether Trump leaves office in the next election or earlier… this is no good for the country and the worst is yet to come.
As for my opinion, which means absolutely nothing in the real world, had someone like Pence introduced the exact same agenda as Trump… would have been fine with me; debate it all on the Hill. I’d never have started a blog.

Did not make you the issue. The issue is what we believe.
Will some believe what you wrote? Some already do. I just wanted to poke some holes into your assertions and encourage people to double check some of their assumptions. Truth can stand exposure better than untruth.
Is Trump good or bad for our country? So far he has been a positive influence, and I am not alone in thinking so. When people invest, they do so because they have a positive outlook. That is why the stock market is done well for the most part.
Would you have accepted a Mike Pence with the same agenda as Trump? I can only guess, but what if Pence had actually tried to implement Trump’s agenda with the same fortitude? I doubt you would have behaved much differently. I just doubt any professional Republican politician would have done what Trump has done. Few would have believed in any chance of success. Yet if Pence had tried it, CNN would have gone bonkers, demonized him, and so most likely would you.
We don’t perceive each others heart, mind, and soul. When a man’s character is an issue to us, it is because of what he says and what he does. Only then do we know something about what he believes, and so far I am quite happy with what Trump has said and done. Perfect? Never happens, but he has done far better than I expected he would. I think it is just a riot Obama is trying to take credit for the economy and the oil boom.

You are certainly not alone with that thought.. but that singular thought, more than any, concerns me most about his supporters… I see what’s happened “so far” has been nothing but a loss of U.S. prestige in the world, divisive chaos at home, reckless behavior in the White House, alienating our traditions and institutions, a laughing stock to the world, a personality demagogue worshiping other world demagogues, and inflaming rhetoric in Tweets and speeches. If you are happy with that.. then we want two totally different countries to reside in.. and totally different Constitutions.

I don’t want what Liberal Democrats think of as international prestige. They try to buy it, and it cannot be bought. I just want my government to protect American interests and do what is right regardless of what other countries think.
There is only one Constitution. If we don’t read it and try to implement as ratified, it is of no use to us. We cannot hold our leaders accountable to a document that means whatever they can get a judge to say it means. When our leaders appoint corrupt judges, we must punish them at the polls.
Ok.. then let’s take the Constitution the way it was supposed to be with the Second Amendment. Before we go any further, I like guns, I own guns, yada, yada. I am in favor of some issues of gun control.. but our discussion here is the wording. Nothing in that wording, nor in the original intent of the wording, was it meant to say citizens can own guns other than in a militia or in use while in a militia. The Court didn’t even uphold that interpretation until the 1970’s when the NRA made it a focal point. The intent back in the day was for the citizenry to have an armed recourse in the event government got carried away.. through and organized militia, not some armed rabble. That’s a perfect example of improper meaning applied to the Constitution, ala to the delight of the NRA.

I am familiar with arguments over the 2nd Amendment. The obsession people have over taking other people’s guns astonishes me.
The 9th and 10th Amendments are actually more important. Read them.
The 9th Amendment says we have rights the Constitution does not list. Somehow Liberal Democrats think that gives us the right to kill the unborn, but we don’t have the right to defend ourselves with a gun?
The 10th Amendment says that if the Constitution does not authorize the Federal Government to do something that power belongs either to the states or the people. Would you mind pointing out where the Constitution authorizes the government to take our guns? Or are you one of those evolving Constitution guys? Do yo think the guys you vote for should do whatever you want so long as they can get away with it? Are you that shortsighted?

Is not the power of the people, by the people, for the people in fact, representative government? Democracy, right? Government IS the people… not separate to the people.

Why was the Bill of Rights added later? The Constitution is a charter. It says what the government can do, not what it can’t do. So the people who wrote the Constitution did not think a Bill of Rights was needed. They knew they could not list all our rights. That’s why they added the 9th and the 10th.
So where did militiamen get their guns from? They owned them. With that in mind, read the 2nd Amendment again.
