(from here)

Remember Hillary Clinton’s little speech about a “basket of deplorables”. Of course, you do. So I won’t bore you, but here is a link to the speech, Read Hillary Clinton’s ‘Basket of Deplorables’ Remarks About Donald Trump Supporters (

What was the problem with H. Clinton’s speech? The problem is that Liberal Democrats obviously believe it. H. Clinton was preaching to people who wanted to hear that message.

Consider Doug‘s, post, Voter Gullibility Or Human Diversity? Don’t get angry or upset. Don’t even roll your eyes when  proclaims how reasonable he is. Just read his post and wonder how a seemingly intelligent person could think that.

Historians, human behavioralists, political theorists, are going to be researching the Trump phenomenon for decades to come.. long after our current divisiveness chaos is gone.   But we really don’t have to wait until our grandkids learn about all this in some future history book.  If we withdraw our claws, retract our teeth, and unclench our fists long enough.. we might explore a little of what I am talking about here; and this just isn’t about America, but about humans in general.

When people express their individualism and even a collective  diversity toward a single ideal or opinion there tends to be an awful lot of posturing and… to use a common word these days.. hyperbole, toward people who do not agree with their views.  For example.. conservatives accuse liberals of  wanting to destroy the Constitution, open all borders, take away all the guns, and in general not abide by the Constitution as it was written.  Liberals, on the other hand, presume to think conservatives are racist, white priviledged, gun-toting right wing neo-whatevers, who favor political nationalism, protectionism, and everything in the stores needing to being made in America. Here is the comment I left on ‘s post.

Sad, as The Donald would say. First you start off seeming to suggest that all the talk about extremism in this country is exaggerated. Then it starts to become clear that you only desire to clear certain groups of the charge of extremism. Your objective, as usual, is an attack on Trump and anyone who dares to support him. Sad.

Don’t much listen to CNN or Fox anymore. Mostly see cable TV at the gym when I am using a workout machine.

Racist? When that charge comes from CNN and Democrats, it is meaningless. When CNN attacks Fox, it is less credible than Burger King appraising McDonald’s hamburgers. Burger King can still be believed.

What do I think you are missing? Do some people uphold a higher morality than others? I suppose so, but government just exists to punish those who break the law, not judge our souls. Unfortunately, some want to use government to play God, and none of us have the wisdom — the moral purity — to judge another. As Jesus said, only God is good.

Look at the judges Trump is appointing. What did Conservatives elect Trump to do? We want judges who will interpret the Constitution as it was ratified, and Democrats (like CNN) consider that a huge crisis. And so you lump us in with NAZIS? Sad.

The difference between a philosophical Conservative and a Liberal Democrat is really simple. We are all “extremists”; we are all sinners. We are all subject to temptation. Liberal Democrats just won’t admit it. That’s why we argue over the Constitution. When we abide by it the Constitution, it restrains those who would abuse the power of government.

What is the solution for this problem? What can Conservatives do about Liberal Democrats? Well, there is no easy answer. However, if you are a Christian, you can try to convince Liberal Democrats that they too are sinners, that they too are deplorable. Before we can accept Jesus Christ as Lord, we each need to understand just how much we need Him.

We have an election coming up on the first Tuesday of November. If you want a government that respects the restraints put upon it by the Constitution, then please vote.

  1. You said Trump will fail, I had to check the date of his post. To be sarcastic, you need to also. When I listen to the economic news, I don’t hear failure, when I hear about North Korea, I don’t hear failure, when I hear about trade I don’t hear failure. I do hear how Hillary has not gone to prison, not justice, I hear how for almost 2 years now evidence of collusion, but you’ll insist it’s there. I don’t hear you holding Obama to the same level of critique. Can’t wait to see the results of the FISA Documents. Trump may not govern your way, regardless, I am guessing if you write a truly honest article, Trup, like Reagan, will have a long list of success. I will be looking forward to it.

      1. I thought he specifically stated so? Did I misread when he did not like Trump? Oh. There was a link to another post, I just figured it was an extension of his. Help me out, if my comment is off base to the wrong person, let’s delete it, thanks for the heads up!

        1. And here I thought I was the only anti-Trumper in these parts trying to maintain balance. 🙂
I generally prefer not to mix religion with politics hence I’ve not been hugely involved in this discussion.

  2. Liberals never and I mean never see themselves as part of the problems of divisiveness and moral rot our country is struggling, which is why I often have trouble taking them seriously enough to actually engage in debate. It’s also why Donald Trump won and will more than likely do the same in 2020.

They use hate and intolerance without batting an eye to fight against what they claim is hateful and intolerant and they promote policies which sucks power away from individuals to feed an ever growing, always hungry blob of bureaucracy that is bleeding us dry. That is not the moral high road yet they claim anyone against their agenda is on the wrong side of history. Pure rubbish.

  3. Tom… the time for justifying why anyone voted for Trump or didn’t frankly doesn’t matter, and likely it never did in the greater picture. It’s not about Hillary and her damn 30,000 emails and it’s not about the Mueller investigation, meddling Russians, or even racist neo-Nazis. The point is, the damage has been done whether you think it’s damage or not. We’ve got to fix this and it means isolating/removing Trump. He’s powerless to the point that Congress is inept thus making his agenda moot, and all he is able to do is the occasional exercising of some knee-jerk presidential authority. He’s going down his “enemies list” and trying to avenge their freedom of speech. He has lost all respect for our traditions and traditional entities that exist to protect us. He is refusing to acknowledge and take action against the Russians meddling with our past and next election process… which in itself is a clear & present danger to the nation.

This is going to get way worse before it gets better. Everything you want to feel has been good in what Trump has done according to his agenda is totally not worth the trade-off of all the chaos and tyrant-esque psychotic behavior. Hell, Tom.. you flat out replied to me that you are justified in separating some ill-conceived idea that some lies are “ok”, per God. This is messed up, Tom.. no matter how you dream it isn’t.

Let’s get Pence in there and continue the agenda if that’s important to you.

    1. @Doug

You are nearly incoherent. You are just spouting words.

Trump is powerless? Tell that to the folks who credit him with a healthy economy. Will it last? Don’t know, but it is better now.

You keep complaining about lies. What lies? After eight years of Obama, what lies has Trump told that approach Obama’s whoppers?

Enemies list? I suppose you are talking about stripping people who have no need to know of security clearances. That’s an enemies list. How farcical can you get? No need to know? No need for a clearance.

  4. Couple things… Hillary’s comments about deplorables are stupid. Half the dang country voted for him! But that’s not why she lost, she lost because she is a snake in the grass that nobody wanted as President. Most of her votes were … PLEASE Anyone but TRUMP votes.

Second I am very happy with President Trump and I am excited for his next 6 years in office…. by the way Doug, you may want to change your countdown timer on your site and add 1460 days to it…. because I GUARANTEE he wins re-election. The democrats have NO one to run against him, the party is split apart between insane and incredibly insane. But that’s ok. We will use the next six years to solidify the Supreme Court for the next 40 years and pump the brakes on all this nonsense happening around the Country.

But I guess you could go with Bernie hahahahaha

    1. Excellent observations.

Right now I sure hope Trump wins a second term. However, Trump is up there in years, the presidency take both a spiritual and physical toll.

So let’s give the man the support he deserves, but let’s also not forget the true source of our hope. Let us pray for our country.

  5. oddly that children’s game I had eons ago, a barrel of monkeys (circa 1965) just popped in my mind reading all of this…It was a plastic brown barrel filled with different colored plastic monkeys. The object was to take one monkey and see how many monkies you could hook arm on arm, making a chain…the longer the monkey chain…well that was the winner…
But here in this monkey business which you share, of which is coming from the delusional liberal democrats…there are no winners with all of this monkey mess as they hang on arm in arm dangling from the thread of disolution and denial…

  6. What I find interesting is Doug’s seemingly nuetral starting statements that end with pure poison passion of how he hates Trump.

What we have to consider is people in California live in what they admit to. LA LA LAND.

How can you expect to convince anyone who is blinded by hate to see, hear, or listen to a nuetral political opinion if their mind is in a stats or condition to psycologic set.

Only the truth will set you free.Doug. Trump is President and that is the truth. When his term is up you will either win or lose the next election.

In the meantime, present your plans or suggestions on how you will do better to solve the problems facing our Nation. If they make better sense I might vote with you.

Right now all I hear from his opposition is ad hominum attacks.

In other words ” Where is the beef” other than , complaints, complaints and sarcasm.

    Regards and good will blogging.

    1. @scatterwisdom

The scary thing is this. Conservatives think Liberal Democrats are wrong. Liberal Democrats think Conservatives are evil. The wrong we try to educate. The evil we try to destroy in self defense.

      1. King Solomon identified the human syndrome as the folly of human Vanity.

Wisdom and love are the only remedies to both destroy egos and stand firm in self defense against folly and fools, in my opinion.

        Regards and good will blogging.

    2. hehehe.. love the CA reference. Land of fruits and nuts for sure.
But besides that… his agenda aside… it’s the man himself I dislike in the position for all the reasons you guys already know about me. But you insist on just banging away at some liberalism nonsense.

      1. Doug,

Frankly, after reading your blog, I think it may be too late for you to escape the brain eating bacteria that propagates in La La Land and return to Addison Illinois, a Republican Du page County..

In my opinion, whatever job you left for can never pay you enough for having to live in aan area infested with brain eating bacteria.

        Regards and good will blogging.

        1. Actually I had a stint next to you in Villa Park… over near Ardmore Ave. Born and raised in the Republican 41st of democratic Daley Chicago.. Norwood Park.

          1. I know, we had this conversation before. It is a shame that all the good Republican common sense training has been lost to brain eating bacteria in La La Land.

I guess the idiom “when you are in either Rome or La La Land, you do as the Romans or La Las.

Incendently, there have been actual medical cases of brain eating bactera in California. Google it quick to see if you are swimming in the same area.

            Regards and good will blogging.

  7. Very little of what Tom replied to made a bit of sense regarding what I wrote.. but, not uncommon. For instance… this “deplorables” business… have any one of you ever read Hillary’s entire speech to THINK FOR YOURSELF? Let me help…

“In too many places still, LGBT Americans are singled out for harassment and violence. You can get married on Saturday, post your pictures on Sunday and get fired on Monday. That’s why we’ve got to continue the forward march of progress.”

“And we cannot do it alone. I cannot do it alone. I’m not like Donald Trump, who says, ‘I alone can fix it.’ I’ve never quite figured out what it is he alone can fix. But that’s not what you’ll hear from me. I think we have to do this together. So, together we’re gonna pass the Equality Act to guarantee full equality. We’re going to put comprehensive quality affordable healthcare within reach for more people, including for mental health and addiction. We’re going to take on youth homelessness, and as my wonderful, extraordinary, great daughter said, we are going to end the cruel and dangerous practice of conversion therapy. We’re going to keep working toward an AIDS-free generation, a goal that I set as secretary of state, and with your help we’re going to pass comprehensive gun laws. …”

“I know there are only 60 days left to make our case — and don’t get complacent, don’t see the latest outrageous, offensive, inappropriate comment and think, well, he’s done this time. We are living in a volatile political environment. You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people — now 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric. Now, some of those folks — they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America.”

“But the other basket — and I know this because I see friends from all over America here — I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas — as well as, you know, New York and California — but that other basket of people are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for change. It doesn’t really even matter where it comes from. They don’t buy everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won’t wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they’re in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.”

    Back to me………………………….
But.. while it’s good politics, especially during a campaign, to pull out words and phrases and make fake representation (done on both sides) it’s not done just to throw stones at an opponent.. it’s done because people who fail to research, use their own common sense, and have little interest in facts… just allow themselves to be motivated and sold on such misrepresentations. They are the ones who jump on the band wagon and cheer and jeer on the latest rhetoric simply because someone told them to.
This was the theme of my post. For those of you who likely will not follow the link Tom posted to actually read what I wrote and simply accept Tom’s remarks as gospel, you would note that I didn’t compare Trumpian conservatives to Nazis. I featured a CNN video segment where they interviewed an “authentic” neo-Nazi.. who admitted to having been inspired, emboldened by Trump and supports him.

    So, there! 😛

    1. @Doug

This is what you put in front of the Nazi (which I will readily admit I did not bother to view).

This video snippet is just a sampling of an example of the Trump effect in action.

      And the Trump effect is?

What you are creating is guilt by association.

What H. Clinton and Liberal Democrats do is put people into baskets and then put them against each other.

Clinton makes a big stink about discrimination against the sexually confused. If a private employer fires a good employee (whether he or she is sexually confused or not) for no good reason, that is his problem. The employee can find another job. Our jobs don’t belong to us. If the government does fires someone stupidly, then that is a public problem.

We have the right to pick our associates. Yet powermad fools, determined to foist their beliefs on everyone else, would take our rights away. They want the government to decide issues outside its purview. Then they would still have the gall to tell us they are protecting our rights. That’s sacrificing the rule of law. Trump isn’t doing that.

      1. Nooooo… what I’m creating is that the “Trump Effect” seems to be favored by those who prefer to ignore the audaciousness of Trump, the man, and falling for his agenda in spite of him. You gotta admit, as I’ve said before… while his followers include any number of true fellow Americans.. his gaslighting has surely attracted the dubious segment as well.

        1. @Doug

          Sigh! Still at it.

Do you have any idea just how few Nazis we have in this country. We just had a repeat of that “unite the right” rally that happened in Charlottesville, VA. At the first one maybe a couple of hundred white nationalists showed up. At this last one, only 21 showed up. It fizzled completely. The Antifa crazies (supposedly on the left) have far more in numbers.

No one in his right mind wants anything to do with Nazis. Unfortunately, our public schools are Socialist institutions, and too many people are ignorant of the problems that arise from Socialism. So instead of calling it Nazism or Communism or even Socialism, Liberal Democrats call it Progressivism. IT’S NEW! IT’S IMPROVED! It is the same crap in a new wrapper.

          1. Tom, to me it’s just plain Trump. Nothing else.

You know what.. I meander about in a number of conservative blogs and without exception, every single one of them, belabor the travesties of Hillary, Obama, Mueller, conspiracy this, 30,000 emails that… on and on and on… and the local follower crowd cheers up a storm. But not one conservative blog.. not one… makes any attempt to address the current events regarding the Trump’s latest Tweets, his outlandish verbal tirades, the most recent firings of his “great and qualified people”, the latest White House idiocy… and this is each and every week this chaos spews new ridiculousness. There’s absolutely NO attempt to defend that nonsense, or deny it, or just plain agree with it.
It’s completely all about… “HAHA.. look at all those liberals and their media swarm all over that intentional Trump strategy to confuse them all, and he’s pushing on his agenda. Everything is going great! I’m going to go clean my gun and celebrate.”
How more narrowminded can anyone get.

          2. @Doug

How does the stuff you and the Liberal Democrat news media waste ridiculously huge amounts of time chattering about make any difference? Trump can be a bit undignified, but the alternative was H. Clinton, and we knew how Trump would behave. He is 70. He isn’t going to change, but he is otherwise doing okay.

There is also another factor. What CNN and the like reports about has little to do with the truth. Our mass media has become a bigger embarrassment than Trump will ever be. What does it suggest when foreign heads of state participate in a press conference, and they ask Trump, “is it always like this?” Is Trump the one who is unhinged? Nope!

          3. Well, no, Tom.. he’s not doing ok. And whatever agenda he has left to push is dead in the water because he’s messed up Congress so badly with his gawd-awful persona and chaotic White House. Jeez, Tom, the man is a habitual liar. You’re ok with that?

But please, feel to share one CNN untruth.. that FoxNews has proven them wrong.

          4. @Doug

That Fox News has proven them wrong? Fox News has to prove CNN wrong, or it doesn’t count? I think we can skip preconditions that don’t matter.

Think about what you are saying.Trump messed up Congress? Those guys have been messed up for decades. Now they are trying to pass a budget through regular order just to avoid his threat of a government shutdown. Hilarious!

What has Trump “lied” about that matters?

          5. OMG.. you truly need to turn on the TV, Tom.
Heck.. even as your declared Christian status suggests… don’t all lies matter?

          6. @Doug

Everyone is a sinner. Everyone has told a lie, and they all matter to God. You and I, however, are not God. So, no, not all “lies” matter.

When we pick a president, we only have the capacity to concern ourselves with those lies most relevant to the job. Given the choice was between H. Clinton and Trump, Clinton’s lies were much worse.

Besides, when Trump uses a bit of hyperbole, the news media calls it a lie. Kind of stupid. My favorite was when Trump was on a stage and asked the Russians to provide H. Clinton’s 30,000 missing emails. That started this idiotic nonsense about Trump colluding with the Russians. That’s insanely stupid!

          7. And let’s disregard the fact that the Russians started doing just that immediately following his “request”?

          8. @Doug

That is not true. That’s like saying the former KGB guy running Russia does not care about Intel until Trump tells him to care.

It is also absurd to blame Trump for the Democrats outrageously poor computer security. Democrat politicians may be devious and cunning in their quest for power, but they are lousy managers.

          9. @Doug

Putin didn’t steal the election, and they have been spying on us, including our leaders, for decades.

That was the point of the scandal about the email server. H. Clinton was so concerned about keeping her shady deals out of the public eye that she conducted government business on a server in her basement, where it was open to hacking. You want to blame Trump for that? Shame on you! There is no excuse for being that wilfully dense.

  8. Interesting post, Tom. I’ve also contemplated some of the philosophical differences between deplorables and virtue signalers and asked, what is even going on there?

“Deplorables” really was a term intended to be shaming, to silence the opposition, and yet as you can tell from the way people seized it as their own, it’s rather perfect and kind of does sum up the less liberal side of things. People by nature are deplorable, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and we need our Constitution and system of checks and balances to help protect us.

On the more liberal side of things we have all this virtue signaling, this endless shaming, like everyone else is a racist, oppressive, horrible. Some people are ashamed of their country, ashamed about what we have allegedly done to the planet, ashamed of President Trump, and there is just all this shame that they need to hand off and dump on someone else.

    1. @IB

We live in a culture which has come to emphasize feelings and self esteem. I don’t if that is by design or just the byproduct of an increasing inept education system. This much, however, is clear. When logical thought doesn’t carry much weight, shaming works.

      1. Or, maybe we are at the point where one person’s logic is another person’s idiocy.. and the facts be damned.
