Unfortunately, because we are just as likely to run for public office for bad reasons as good, we have to take anything politicians say with a healthy dose of skepticism. We must examine their words carefully, especially in a close campaign.
So what’s our first question about the race between Barbara Comstock and Shak Hill? Is Shak Hill a credible opponent to Barbara Comstock? Hill thinks so. Here his explanation.
Still, compared to his opponent, Hill’s fundraising is miniscule (see US House of Representatives District 10 (vpap.org)). Nevertheless, Comstock also seems to think Hill is a credible opponent. She has paid Hill the “compliment” of trying to destroy his reputation. She is running ads against Hill based upon innuendo.
What about Comstock’s charges? Comstock charges sound serious, but they lack substance (see THE LAW IS JUSTICE, NOT A TRAIN WRECK: WHY WE NEED TO PUT CANDIDATES LIKE SHAK HILL INTO CONGRESS).
Here is the substance of her attack, ShadyShak.com. What is pathetic about that website and Comstock’s ads against Hill? Why would an established incumbent stoop to stamping her name on tripe like ShadyShak.com? What does Comstock want? Why would an incumbent politician with a huge campaign war chest produce such nonsense? The answer? Comstock’s voting record is so bad she needs to force Hill to defend himself instead of talking about the issues and her voting record. Even if he wanted to do so, Hill does not have to attack Comstock personally. Her votes are that bad (see 2018-05-03_Final Who Represents you).
On June 12th, Republicans in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District will have a choice. They just need to do a little research. They need to compare Comstock’s voting record (see 2018-05-03_Final Who Represents you) with her campaign advertisements. Then they need to ask this question. Do “I” want to elect a pretender or a real Conservative Republican?
Here is something I ran across after I wrote this post. Listen to what Sebastian Gorka has to say. Consider how he explains why it is our job to save the republic.
