King Solomon, Voter’s Biggest Folly

Are you a political activist? Are you a government official? Do you pay any attention to politics? Do you even bother to vote? If your answer is no to all those questions, shame on you.

Why should we pay attention to politics? Look at what government does. Is it difficult to figure out why government is important? Yet lots of people take government for granted. When we do that, our leaders take us for granted. Consider.

What does ‘Take for granted’ mean?
If you take something for granted, you don’t worry or think about it because you assume you will always have it. If you take someone for granted, you don’t show your appreciation to them. (from =>

There are no guarantees. Just because something worked yesterday does not mean it will work tomorrow. When we take our leaders for granted, why should they serve us?

Because of poorly run governments and some outright evil governments, world history is full of wars, famines, genocides, robbery on a grand scale, slavery, and various sordid crimes. That is true even in the USA.

Because we don’t pay attention or bother to participate in politics intelligently, more and more our leaders don’t feel the need to pay any attention to us. That is why for all practical purposes we only have two political parties in the USA. Why only two? The two major parties have conspired to make it difficult for a third party to succeed. They understand how the system works, but we don’t bother to learn. Hence, even though they execute their scheme for excluding third party candidates in plain sight, most of us don’t see it. We don’t even realize there is a problem.

If we want to make certain our leaders work for us, we must make certain we participate in the process and help choose them. That process begins when we nominate them. Therefore, we each have to do our best to participate in primary elections, conventions, firehouse primaries, or whatever means are used to select the nominees of the party we want to win.

What is the election schedule in Virginia? Take a look => Make sure that you at least research the candidates and vote.

In the USA, why do we voters keep electing incumbents over, and over, and over, and over again?

  1. Texas had it’s primary election last week. I had the privilege to participate. It is always interesting because you actually have to do some work to to know who to vote for. You can 0 Republicans or you can have 10 on the ballot. If 10, which is the “best” one to vote for. Takes work to form an opinion on that.

It is an amazing country we are blessed to live in. Such an honor to be able to participate.

Thanks for the insight as always!

      1. Yes, it went very well. Senator Cruz is looking good. Some of the Congressional races could be a challenge. Strong Democratic base in the big cities. Pretty conservative in the suburbs and rural areas.

        Much work to be done!
