Stop This Madness!

You have probably heard about the federal judge in Hawaii who stopped President Donald Trump’s latest travel ban from taking effect. This week that judge extended his order. U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson made this decision. President Barack Obama appointed U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson.

Trump’s travel ban applied to Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. What do those countries, assuming the word even applies to some of them, have in common? We have no good way of working with these nations to determine the character of the people coming from them. Yet incompetent judges such as the one who stopped Trump’s travel ban put ordinary Americans at risk for no good reason. Such judges just insist upon expressing their personal opinions by interpreting the law their way instead of as it was written. Such judicial decisions illustrate the importance of appointing honorable judges and removing rogue judges from the bench for incompetence.

What is the problem? Why are we getting so many judges of this sort? When we elect Liberal Democrats, they appoint incompetent judges. When we vote for Liberal Democrats, that makes us incompetent voters. We are getting nothing more than the sort of incompetence we demonstrated when we voted.

I am so sick of federal judges from Podunk, Hawaii being allowed to be the deciders of US immigration policy I could puke.

What do we have a Supreme Court for? They upheld the ban, and now somebody can file in another venue and we have to go through all of this again? Are you kidding me? How about some expedited review…..like TOMORROW, and settle the damned question once and for all.

Oh, wait….is the docket just too crowded with homosexual marriage and transgender rights issues? Sorry. I guess more people are just going to have to die.

    1. This is the difference between the rule of Law and the rule of men. Judges like this decide what is legal based upon who is in the White House. If it is their guy, it is legal. If it is the other guy, it is not. Such judges are not honorable because the only thing they honor is getting the results they want. When judges believe the end is enough to justify the means, that is scary.

  1. Not to engage in a debate about the Constitutionality of the decision because I am not a Constitutional lawyer… but what is the fear? The stats in no way support a foreign threat of terrorism in the U.S. In fact, the only acts of terrorism in the US have been domestic nutcases. Whatever policies that are currently in effect with the necessary agencies seem to be doing their jobs regarding the keeping a watchful eye on risky people and most certainly exposing the occasional plot. What is the pretext for any of the travel bans? We have WAY more to fear from mental health nut jobs… like in Vegas.

The constitutional issue is the more important issue. The president has an important job to do, and so do judges. When the people we elect don’t behave honorably, they don’t get the work we need them to do done. Hence, each of us needs to understand the Constitution well enough to vote wisely.

So what about the actual threat? Well, I guess I am holding it up as an example of the magnitude of the problem? Consider. What stats did we have before some crazy people flew airplanes into a couple of tall buildings and another shaped like a pentagon?

At issue is the president’s authority to defend our nation, his primary task as Commander-in-Chief. Do you let anyone who just wants to do so wander into your home? When people come to our country, we have every right to check them out first. If we cannot do it properly, then we don’t have to let them in. It is the president’s job to make that assessment. He is the one we have delegated that authority.

      1. Again.. it seems much ado about nothing.. which is a basis for a number of Trump’s campaign claims. He thinks there’s a problem so that means there IS a problem. The government stats at the time on illegal immigration “pouring over the border” were just not true and were already in a decline.
The government research regarding the loss of factory jobs in the red states and coal mining jobs had nothing to do with Obama restrictions but rather shifts in market demand for cheaper avenues than coal… and factories closing not because of movement overseas but because of automation.
The 9/11 attackers were not from any sort of terrorist country.. Saudis if anything. Having a ban back then would have done nothing toward stopping that event. He just operates on his own interpretation of what he THINKS the country needs rather than being motivated by facts.

Much to do about nothing? I cannot make anyone take anything seriously if they don’t want to do so. If you don’t think trying to keep terrorists out of our country is a serious matter, I can’t make you believe it is. On the other hand, I don’t regard you blowing the problem off as an especially serious matter. In an election, we just have to persuade enough people. If we cannot, that is just the way it is. If not enough people are willing to fight to preserve our republic, then it is lost.

So I will just make a few points that should be obvious. Islamic terrorism is an old problem, not a new one. Europe has suffered repeated invasions. Now they almost seem to have given up. Why? I don’t have a good answer, but we seem to have the same problem.

Islam is both a religion and a political system. Mohammad was both a prophet and a war leader. Mohammad himself cut off some of the heads of his victims.

Islam is a belief system, and belief systems have consequences. What people believe influences their behavior. The reason tyranny and terrorism is endemic to nations where Islam is the predominant religion is because of Islam. The statistical correlation is obvious.

Even in Europe, the statistical correlation is obvious. Countries in Europe that have refused admit hordes of Muslim immigrants don’t have to deal with the problem of Islamic terrorism the way the ones that have do. What is funny is that the ones that have accepted Muslim immigrants claim that is unfair. How is that for stupid?

The 9/11 attackers were Muslims. Even though Muslim terrorists tried to knock one of the World Trade Center buildings before the flew planes into them, the Clinton administration did not take the problem seriously. Obama did not do so either. Hence we saw the rise of ISIS.

Trump is trying to take the problem of Islamic Terrorism seriously. You want to blow off the disasters these people create? You want Iran to have nukes? Keep voting for Liberal Democrats.

The fact is Liberal Democrats don’t take security issues seriously. They seem to be more interested in enriching themselves and their cronies than in protecting our rights. Given how the Senate helped Obama negotiate his treaty with Iran, I fear many of our Republican leaders have the same attitude. Senator Corker set up so that 2/3 of the Senate would have to vote against the deal instead of approving the deal with a 2/3 majority, which is what the Constitution requires. Sick, utterly despicable behavior, but it allowed the Senate to pretend it had nothing to do with Obama’s treaty. Unfortunately for Corker, his constituents saw through his pretense.

      Sometimes statistics help.
Here is a data bank of all the terrorist attacks in the US from 2002-2016.
I included thwarted attacks in the criteria as well.

      http://www.start.umd.edu/gtd/search/Results.aspx?expanded=no&casualties_type=b&casualties_max=&start_yearonly=2002&end_yearonly=2016&criterion1=yes&criterion2=yes&criterion3=yes&dtp2=some&success=yes&country=217&ob=GTDID&od=desc&page=1&count=100#results-table

        1. They do supply that information (though not directly).
If you click on the red number next to the attack, it offers the background information. From there you can choose “who” and so forth. Once you have the name you can look up the person.
It does take some time though (too much time for the average journalist, which is why we get highly inaccurate bromides like “no terrorist attacks from immigrants of those states!”)
Here are the first few (Islamic extremist related attacks) on that chart:
          Ahmad Khan Rahami- from Afghanistan

Dahir A. Adan- Born in Kenya, part of Somali-American community in St Cloud though so there’s probably a connection.

Omar Mateen- Born to Afghani parents

          Mohamed Barry- Born in Guinea

Syed Rizwan Farouk- Parents Pakistani immigrants
and Tashfeen Malik- born in pakistan

Most of the attackers (in general) seem to have some affiliation with ISIS or ISIL.
          ISIS- Islamic State in Syria
ISIL- Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant

Makes sense to me we wouldn’t want those folks without some seriously, seriously heavy vetting.

          Liked by 1 person

        2. If I’m not mistaken some of those “imported Islamists”, especially the Minnesota bunch, were U.S citizens and/or have dual citizenship. Vetting would have been done as part of that process or having been let in as immigrants in the first place. The question remains.. did any of them have some grand Muslim scheme conjured up back in the old country to bring chaos and discontent to the U.S. by becoming U.S. citizens, or was all this started once they became citizens and they were convinced to do ill-will during the weekly poker night while eating pizza.

Here’s my issue… if all this ban stuff passes Constitutional muster then I am fine with it. But, if it’s going to cost more money then is the added increase to an already over budget, budget worth it when it seems the stats do not support the outside threat? It’s the same thing regarding the wall along Mexico… for years the stats have shown illegal border crossing have dropped from a high in 2009 of something like 160,000 to something like 26,000 last year. Is this worth a ridiculous $20 billion dollar wall? I certainly don’t think so. Trump just dreams up in his own mind what he sees is important without any research.. and yells “foul” to make his base get further pissed because that’s then another problem they can blame for their sorry lot in life.

        3. Congress has plenary power to regulate immigration. Judges have pushed for immigrant rights, but it a mystery where they can find any any basis for that in the Constitution. How weird is it that people who are not supposed to be in the country have the unfettered right to send their children to our schools at taxpayer expense? Seriously, I worry more about the fifth column in this country that I do about foreign born terrorists. What I find horrifying is that supposedly rational people can say what you just said. Consider just this part.

It’s the same thing regarding the wall along Mexico… for years the stats have shown illegal border crossing have dropped from a high in 2009 of something like 160,000 to something like 26,000 last year.

Obama soured the US economy for years. When there is no work, of course we have fewer immigrants, including illegals. Here of late Trump’s victory discouraged illegal immigration. However, without changes and additional security, illegal immigration will resume. Sessions recently point out, for example, that we still have a catch and release policy. If an illegal complains that it is not safe for him to go back to his home nation because of some form of persecution, the authorities have to release him and set up a court date. Of course, few of these people show up. They are just gaming our insanely lenient system.

So why this stupidity? Cheap labor. If you are rich, how do you increase you profits? If you can hire less expensive labor to work in your business, that helps.

America has lots of business people. They donate money to politicians so that those guys can run for office. That is one reason Congress constantly fights for open borders. The other? Democrats see new suckers for their welfare state plantation. Since they are killing off so many blacks with abortion “rights”, they have to replace them.

        4. Just to add, from what I can tell the countries on Trump’s list are also countries with travel bans (or uber-high level advisories). Canada’s travel advisory for those countries is similar. Of course this list is going to change over time depending. I’m sure it also ties in to politics an practical limitations…risk/reward factors. In other words, the risk level we incur by accepting them versus the value they have to bring. Which is reasonable, I think.

Islamic terrorists are of domestic origin? This may not be a Christian nation, but there is no doubt whatsoever that it is an Islamic one. Of course, the Islamists would say that is just a matter of time, and that is the point.

        6. Well, my friend.. I don’t share your fears because it seems for the most part a lot of that is indeed just conjured up fear and far less about fact.. and when did a Trump supporter ever rely on facts. If it’s inevitable that there some future “takeover” of the U.S. by Islam.. you, me, our kids, our grandkids, , great-grandkids, won’t be around to ever worry about it.

Well, statistics would indicate facts do back up the argument that Islamic terrorism is a real threat. Conversely, statistics do not support the anti-Trumper assertions that white supremacists are a (comparatively) large security threat. I think it’s the ADL (anti-defamation league) that makes this claim in particular…but it’s asserted in many places.

    Have you heard the latest?
    Wow.

    From the Diplomad:
    http://www.thediplomad.com/2017/10/collusion-collision.html
“When all the spinning, talking points, and bad/fake news reporting ends, one is left with the irrefutable fact that the Democrats lied about Trump’s links to Russia. They lied BECAUSE, in fact, they were the ones in cahoots with the Russians. Bill and Hillary aided Vlad’s effort to corner the world’s uranium market in exchange for, (drumroll, shocked face) money! Lots of it. Some (around $145 million or so) funneled to the odious criminal organization known as the Clinton Foundation, and other large amounts handed directly to Bill as “speaking fees.”

The Clintons and Obama were dead certain Hillary would win the election, and all this grotesque corruption and selling out of the nation’s interests would be buried and ignored. Hillary’s campaign and the Democratic Party leadership paid millions to a shady outfit (Fusion GPS) to develop a narrative about Trump being the Ruskies’ Pet Poodle. In violation of US election laws, the Dems paid millions to foreigners, including Russians, to cook up the salacious but very fake “dossier” on Trump and help ensure the election would go Hillary’s way.

It’s all coming apart now, a massive train wreck. “

Guess they’ll have to superimpose a Hillary face over all those Russian meme photoshops.
