I like the matter of fact way Wally wrote this. It is a short post that focuses on the practical problems of helping our neighbors.
There are lots of Americans who need help. We have had a natural disaster in Texas. Florida is in the process of having one, and the western half of our nation has suffered from very warm weather. We don’t have to look far to find someone who could use a helping hand.
Prayers are in order, both for the suffering and for the souls of those who can help.
Well, I didn’t get around to a thought today, was too busy to think. We aren’t too far driving time from many of the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. Many of the coastal areas hit are within an easy day’s drive, and lots of local folks are going down for both relief efforts as well as just plain old work. In my case, I have people going down for both.
Our church made a pretty substantial purchase of some water and non perishable items such as toiletry items, diapers, etc. and enough preparable food to cook a meal for a substantial number of people. Our two youth leaders, and our own daughter along with her fellow are heading out tonight to a little town near Beaumont, TX. After reading the news today, your above statement may be the biggest understatement I read today, in my opinion, Pray.

Tom, again, thank you for sharing this. You made a great point about the practicality of our faith. Prayer is wonderful, and God answers it; sometimes, however we may be that answer to another persons prayer, which means we may need to get moving. James addressed this in his Epistle, in fact.
