Are you an Islamophile, or are you Islamophobic? In his post, John Liming reviews different sides of the issue.
What people believe affects their behavior. Otherwise, our beliefs are of no consequence.
Does being a Muslim have consequence? Would a Muslim be insulted if you told him that his being a Muslim makes no difference in the way he lives?
Of course, what we each believe makes a difference in our lives. That is why we should abhor a philosophy that Liming mentions in his post, “Multiculturalism”. Multiculturalists would have us believe that all religions are the same.
Essentially, Multiculturalism is the religion of Democrat/Progressive/Liberal busybodies. If you don’t really believe in anything except your ability to perfect other people, then what other people believe does not make much difference to you. That is, what Democrat/Progressive/Liberal busybodies believe is important, but what everyone else believes is not important. Hence all religious beliefs are the same, equally insignificant and discardable.
What continually frustrates Multiculturalists is that they believe something that is not true. Because Christians, Muslims, Buddhist, Hindus, and so forth all believe things that are incompatible with the political schemes of Democrat/Progressive/Liberal busybodies, the political schemes of Democrat/Progressive/Liberal busybodies are always falling apart. For example, even though Muslims despise the LGBTQ agenda and want to implement Sharia law, Democrat/Progressive/Liberal busybodies keep stubbornly trying to bring Muslims into their fold as just one more victim group. Since Muslims want to be Muslims more than they want to be Democrats, that is not working.
Meanwhile, Conservatives wonder what it is about Multiculturalism that makes people blind to the obvious. If Muslims call themselves Muslims because they believe in the tenets of Islam, then why shouldn’t we seriously consider what Muslims believe? If the political beliefs of Muslims are incompatible with the beliefs of other religions, what is the sense in allowing millions of Muslims to come to the United States? It is just asking for trouble.
Great post subject that needs to be addressed in the USA.
