WHENEVER ANY FORM OF GOVERNMENT BECOMES DESTRUCTIVE OF THESE ENDS (LIFE,LIBERTY,AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS) IT IS THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO ALTER OR ABOLISH IT, AND TO INSTITUTE A NEW GOVERNMENT― Thomas Jefferson

Living Freely In God's Kingdom
Seeing as Trump and Clinton are identical on issues except immigration, I wonder how quickly the other social conservatives that once fought so dearly against abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, gay marriage and the rest are going to vote for Trump with clear consciences as their “non-negotiables” get thrown out the window.
To you, it always seems to be character flaws on the part of conservatives.
On the issue you mentioned, the voters of a single state put an end to a socially conservative Constitutionalist — but because of his respect for the Constitution, Ted Cruz would have accepted state level decisions on things the federal government has no business being involved in. He never suggested the US government banning of such things as gay marriage or abortion (or bathroom malselection!), despite his personal opposition, because that’s not what the feds should be doing.
Voters who choose Trump over Clinton recognize a point that you overlooked here: Clinton is guaranteed to appoint hard-left SCOTUS justices (as well as countless district and other federal judges). Trump might not; it’s a grab bag, probably based on whatever deal he’s more recently cut with someone.
That difference is significant, as we still have judges serving from before the Carter administration. A poor choice is one we have to live with for a generation, long after the president making that poor choice is gone from office. Clinton will intentionally make choices bad for America’s future. Trump … is merely unpredictable.

“To you, it always seems to be character flaws on the part of conservatives.” You do seem to have a penchant for littering the field of discourse with strawmen.
Trump is equally guaranteed based on his positions. He is politically aligned, except on immigration, with the current Obama pick, Merrick Garland. Trump most certainly will nominate a justice that will continue the judicial legacy of Kagan and Sotomayor because that is where he political leanings are.
When the inevitable outcome is the same regardless of who wins in November, I would go with the Hamilton doctrine: unite the party against Clinton rather than split it over Trump.
That Hamilton “doctrine” was a spur-of-the-moment decision based on 35 dead tie ballots and Jefferson’s ultimate agreement to let Federalist policies stand. He despised both Jefferson and Burr, but Jefferson caved to the Federalists first.

And good thing it was so spur of the moment so that those of us who cannot vote for a person so diametrically opposed to abortion, euthanasia, torture, capital punishment, IVF, and gay marriage can follow that example to make the moral choice and damn both candidates to the oblivion their evil would tend them towards. In the words of Mercucio, “A pox on your two houses.” In the words of the prophet Joshua, “As for me and my house, we will follow the Lord.”
I had always considered it likely that Ted Cruz, like Ronald Reagan, would not be successful his first time out. He got so much closer than I originally expected, though I was always hoping he’d make it all the way. Indiana was the one door that remained locked to him, more’s the pity.
I wrote more on this on my own blog here.

@Keith
Cruz sort of shut the door to New York on himself. Still, the whole thing has been absurd. The standard for Cruz was so high it became nearly an impossible hurdle. The standard for Trump was so low a zombie could leap it.
But Cruz “shut the door to New York” by merely quoting what Trump said about himself. Had the media noted this, playing that bit of the Trump interview, the comment would be quite fairly understood.
Ted Cruz was allowed, occasionally, to say that Trump had said it, but for 90%+ of the media exposure that was cut out of the presentation.
So people complain about Cruz’s attack on New Yorkers when Trump explicitly said that, because he grew up in New York, he wasn’t going to have the same values as someone who grew up in Iowa. He even picked that state, which Cruz merely repeated as the Iowa caucus approached.
In the same statements, Trump explicitly supported partial-birth abortion, putting him much to the left of most Americans — but right in line with Planned Parenthood.

EXCELLENT SPEECH. I HOPE TRUMP ASKS HIM TO BE HIS VP. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IF GOD WILLS IT.

scatterwisdom,
God wills that man get a brain and use it.
Donald Trump’s success seems to be at odds with that.
The Lord sometimes works in mysterious ways. Time will tell. Don’t stress out, he has not won yet. You still can vote for Hillary if that makes you feel better.
Regards and goodwill blogging.
scatterwisdom,
I think The Donald will beat Hillary with 1/2 his brain tied behind his back – just to make it fair.
Well, I look at it this way:
Donald Trump’s offer of mediocrity is still up from where we are now.
And statesman Tom Cruz is still young.

Hope and faith. What would we do with them?
I know, right? I’m sorry. On the bright side, no matter what happens Jesus Christ is actually “the leader of the free world,” so to speak, and He reigns.
So, I’m rejoicing in that Truth while stocking upon spam and ammo and developing a fondness for post apocalyptic fashion 🙂

Jesus does reign.
