Obama Eyes Major Immigration Move (time.com)
The President may be preparing to provide temporary legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants
When President Obama issues executive orders on immigration in coming weeks, pro-reform activists are expecting something dramatic: temporary relief from deportation and work authorization for perhaps several million undocumented immigrants. If the activists are right, the sweeping move would upend a contentious policy fight and carry broad political consequences. (continued here)
President Barack H. Obama The First, Chief Golfer of the United States, Legislator Extraordinaire, supposedly heads the executive branch of our government. Our Constitution does not give the president power to make laws. Instead, the president enforces existing laws. Nevertheless, this president has a pen, a phone, and a golf club.
So what has the The Chief Golfer of the United States done about illegal immigration? He has engineered a crisis. By working hard (with his golf club) to not enforce — to undermine — existing laws, he has encouraged illegal immigration. He and the Democratic Party have even made it known that welfare is available anyone willing to cross our borders illegally. Even so Obama and the Democratic Party expect the people of this country to accept their “fix,” comprehensive immigration reform via “executive orders.” That is how stupid they think the people of this country have become. Given that the Democrats also run our education system……
In the post previous to this one, WHAT CAN WE DO TO STRENGTHEN OUR SOUTHERN BORDER?, Delegate Bob Marshall suggests some action items. In addition to praying for our country and our leaders, we each need to take responsibility.
We also need to wonder what once made this country great. What was it about the spirit of Americans that once made America a place where good things happened? Was it this? Instead of waiting for somebody else to do something, did Americans look to themselves to do what needed to be done? Did we once look to God for guidance instead of government for handouts? Knowing that we are His hands and feet, did more Americans seek to serve instead of being served?
Think about the words below. Read President John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s entire speech (Inaugural Address, 20 January 1961) and wonder whether we today could take such a speech to heart.
To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required–not because the communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.
To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge–to convert our good words into good deeds–in a new alliance for progress–to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty. But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers. Let all our neighbors know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the Americas. And let every other power know that this Hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house. (from here)
As it happens, we are no longer the master of our own house. Instead of communist subversion, we have been overcome by our own greed for government handouts. We have let conniving politicians buy our votes.
