Bob Marshall’s Formal Announcement in #VA10 Race

Of late, I have been paying more attention to religion than politics. The results of the elections here of late have convinced me more and more that without a change of heart — a revival — America’s political system will collapse into tyranny. Therefore, I write posts aimed at inducing my readers to read the Bible and about our nation’s history.

Nevertheless, from time-to-time there are hopeful signs in the political realm. Here is the latest from The Bull Elephant.

bob marshallFollowing on The Bull Elephant’s exclusive reporting earlier this week that Del. Bob Marshall is running for Congress to replace retiring Rep. Frank Wolf, Marshall today released the following announcement:

Del. Bob Marshall Enters 10th Congressional Race Constitutional Conservative with 22 Years of General Assembly Experience
“After prayerful consideration and a lot of positive outreach from family, friends, and supporters, I am hereby announcing that I am running for Congress in the 10th Congressional District of the Commonwealth of Virginia.”

Delegate Bob Marshall announced, “I believe I have a record that has served Virginians well, the ability to win in November, and the fortitude to make a difference in Washington in the years to come.”

Delegate Bob Marshall has won 12 general elections (and one primary election) to the Virginia General Assembly from Prince William and Loudoun counties and has fought for the people of Virginia, the Constitution, and our freedom. In 22 years of service, Marshall hasn’t voted for a single tax increase.  (continued here)

As Delegate Bob Marshall‘s announcement honestly indicates, he has a solid Conservative record. If the voters in the 10th Congressional District elect Marshall to represent them, they will know exactly the kind of leader they have elected.

All too often when we elect someone to public office, we find his or her performance surprising. We wonder “what happened?” We think “that is not what he or she promised to do.” And what’s worse, we keep voting for that person, and they keep fooling us.

How is it we are so easily fooled? Perhaps it has to do with how we vote. Instead of doing our homework — some research — we vote for an image created by the corporate-owned mass media.  There is little to excuse such laziness. With the advent of the Internet, research has become easy. We can select our favorite search engine, and in a couple of hours we can find out what a candidate stands for and what he has done that affirms his stated position. That is, we can find out whether a candidate is genuine or a phony.

Look at the state of our nation. Let there be no doubt. As Marshall states in his announcement, “America is facing the most serious financial, moral and leadership crisis since our Civil War.” To retain our liberty, that great gift bequeathed to us by our forebears, we must elect men and women to public office who have both the courage and the experience required to resolutely support and defend our Constitution. Unless we do so — unless we do our part as good citizens — we will not be able to pass on to our children the land of the free and the home of the brave. We will have lost that beautiful country our parents gave to us.
