It is beginning to look like there is a “deal.” That is, the RINOs caved, and the spendaholics won. Once again Obama and the Democrats beat back the senseless Tea Party Republicans and save the RINOs from themselves. At least, that will be the story in the corporate news media.
The corporate news media will try to blame Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. Giving much attention to what the corporate news media thinks will not be worth the bother. What matters is what happened, and where do we go from there?
WASHINGTON, Oct. 16 (UPI) — U.S. House Republicans planned to meet Wednesday afternoon to discuss the Senate agreement to temporarily reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling.
Republican House members were telling reporters they expected U.S. Speaker John Boehner to allow a vote on the proposal. Expectations were that the Senate would vote first on the proposal, followed by the House.
, R-Texas, claimed a victory of sorts because of the House impasse that forced the partial government shutdown and the threat not to raise the nation’s debt limit.
“I think we have seen a remarkable thing happen,” Cruz said. Cruz had urged House members to continue calling for defunding or repealing the Affordable Care as the price of compromise.
“That was a remarkable victory, to see the House engage in a profile in courage,” Cruz said. “Unfortunately, the Senate did not follow the House.” If the Senate had supported the House, ” I believe the outcome [on the healthcare law] would have been very, very different.”
The White House said the president would sign legislation that reopens the U.S. government until mid-January and temporarily lifts the debt ceiling.
Majority Leader Harry Reid announced the deal on which the legislation is based, and was supported by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. (continued here)
Many have not been paying attention. Hopefully, this government shutdown alarms them. Hopefully, Tea Party activists can get these people to look beyond what is being reported by the corporate news media. As the cost of Obamacare kicks in, maybe they will listen to Cruz and Lee.
When most people did not want it, and when it has already proven disastrous, why couldn’t the politicians in Washington DC be persuaded to defund or delay Obamacare? Our leaders want Obamacare; they don’t care whether whether we want it or not.
Because we have elected people who will not accept appropriate restraints on the power WE GIVE THEM, our government has become a grave threat to our rights. If we want to restore our constitutional republic, we have to do our homework. In every congressional district, and in every state, we have leaders we need to consider replacing. If a congressman or senator voted wrong on Obamacare — when WE REALLY COULD HAVE DEFUNDED IT — that guy needs to be replaced.
Don’t wait for the general election in November 2014. Get to work now. In order to be ready for the general election, we must throw out the RINOs and nominate Conservatives to replace them.
