Given the Brave New World intro, you may wish to consider a followup post. That post would describe how our public school system is using drugs to medicate pacify children. With a background in psychology, I expect you would have a little more insight into that issue than most bloggers. (continued here)
What is Brain Candy….REALLY??? all about? Here is an excerpt.
When I first read Brave New World in my youth I didn’t think too much about it……but by the time I picked it up for a second time it was the 1990’s and “popping pills” in the United States had now become a massive trend.
We have become a nation where too many people medicate their unhappiness with drugs. Whereas blames this problem on cultural disorders, I blame it separation from God. Nevertheless, since I thought highly of observations, I made my suggestion. honored my request with an excellent post, Getting your kids high…..REALLY??? Here is excerpt from that post.
When I was younger, schools in the United States were finding that children simply didn’t want to sit still in class. However, instead of asking WHY the children didn’t want to sit still in class schools asked HOW can we get them to sit still; enter Ritalin.
The New York Times has said that Ritalin is more potent than cocaine.
“Why?” is a apt question? Why are we giving children dangerous drugs just to make them sit still in class? Why would we do that?
When a man and woman bring a child into the world, God grants us a treasure in the form of a bawling, helpless, and troublesome little animal. With love, prayer, lots of work, and a small fortune; we can show our little one what it means to be a child of God. Why would we want to drug our little treasure instead?
Why do we expect parents to hand responsibility for their child over to politicians? When we can only be certain that politicians will take our money and spend it, why would we rely upon politicians to love a child, pray for a child, and hire people willing to work wholeheartedly on a child’s behalf?
In Brain Candy….REALLY???, speaks of four cultural disorders. Here is the one I think most applicable to how we raise a child.
—) Lack of community has led people to spending too much time in front of the television (40 hours a week watching TV DOES NOT make you feel happy
When a man and a woman raise a child, they discover a need. We cannot raise a child alone. We need an extended family and a community. We need people we love, people who love us. To give our small treasure what he or she needs to become a child of God, we need to become part of and help form a community. No matter how much they talk about it, the love of a community is something politicians cannot give us. That’s why they resort in desperation to drugging our children.
