Watched it? Then consider this question. What is government? When the average Liberal hears a Conservative complaining about big government, how does that Liberal respond? Doesn’t the Liberal usually respond with an accusation: “You hate government.” What Whittle points out is that what Conservatives detest is not government, its welfare and entitlement programs. What do welfare and entitlement programs have to do with governing a nation?

The term “entitlement” is in fact nothing more than a euphemism. What we call an entitlement involves nothing more than taking money out of one person’s pocket and putting it into another person’s pocket.

You say you are “entitled” your Social Security and Medicare? The money that was suppose to be set aside for those programs was spent by buying yours and other people’s votes. Government never saves any money; government spends every cent it gets. So you already got your entitlement. If you want Social Security and Medicare too, then you have to rob your children and grandchildren.

Undoubtedly, I missed more of the shenanigans than I noticed. Nonetheless, I did report some of the doings our leaders would rather we not notice. Therefore, just in case you missed these little gems of devilry, here are some links.

With this “little taxcut”, we now have a tacit admission by the Democratic Party that Social Security is a welfare program.
• Virginia effectively held the nation’s first presidential primary in the 2012 election.  AN EXAMPLE OF HOW WE SHOOT OURSELVES IN THE FOOT UPDATED WITH OTHER VIEWS provides a report, but there is more. When I got this comment from phoebe53, I decided I had better link to additional reports. Why? Well, here is how I responded to her comment.
  

  phoebe53 – It is an unfortunate fact, but from time-to-time we all get taken in. We forget that when we have a good question, we must pursue the answer.

  This apparently has never been an issue before so why was it so “difficult for the others to get on the ballot, in a state the size of VA it shouldn’t have been a problem.

  Consider why we have blogs. We have a biased news media. We must pursue answers. To overcome the bias, we must put those answers before each other.

  What changed is that RPV CHANGED the rule whereby the petitions were accepted.

  In October 2011, RPV decided to carefully check the petitions that the candidates submitted to get on the ballot (See VA GOP Changed Ballot Access Rules Last Month). Whereas before RPV had only required 10,000 signatures, now they made certain the candidates followed the rules for collecting those signatures. However, they made a convenient exception that worked for two candidates, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. Those candidates that collected more than 15,000 signatures were presumed to have the required signatures and to have met the rule requirements.

Because we are sinful human beings living in a sin-filled world, until the Second Coming we will never put an end to political chicanery. Nonetheless, we are suppose to try, but the latest news suggests little progress.

House Republican freshmen are expressing frustration with a deal negotiated by their leadership to extend a payroll-tax cut for two months, leaving House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) ending the year the same way he began: delivering on a must-pass measure without the backing of a big part of his caucus.

Since the weekend, the House Republican leader had refused to accept a two-month payroll-tax cut extension that cleared the Senate, 89-10. He gave in on Thursday, hours after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) joined other Republicans in urging the House GOP leadership to pass a short-term measure. Increasingly isolated, the House speaker agreed to pass the two-month extension on Friday morning by unanimous consent, a fast-track procedural maneuver that guarantees passage unless lawmakers book plane tickets and fly back to Washington in time to object.

“Given the late hour of notification, there’s no way I can make it,” said Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R., Kansas). “I’m disappointed. That’s not the process by which I thought we would consider things like this,” he said, adding “this is the kind of stuff that people hate about Washington.” (continued here)

Think of all the Congressmen with that great excuse.

What is this crappy bill about? What this so-called tax cut cuts is funding for Social Security. The bill also extends jobless  jobless benefits and averts a sharp drop in payments to doctors who see Medicare patients–with higher fees for obtaining new mortgages. How much you want to bet that these sneaky people will make the fees — the taxes –  for obtaining new mortgages permanent and the so-called tax cut temporary?

Imagine if a politician told you that you could get a “tax cut” by not funding your 401K. Well, that is what the con artists we elected call a tax cut, not funding the Ponzi scheme retirement plan they created.

Do you wonder why they do always do this sort of stuff just as everyone else goes on vacation? These people are shameless. They are unworthy of the high office to which we elected them. We should be ashamed of ourselves for putting them there.

In his video, Crowder cites this post by Erick Erickson at Redstate. What caused Erickson to write it? He makes the point that when presidential candidate Rick Perry called Social Security a Ponzi scheme we ALL should have been supportive.

I realize we’re all supposed to be in the tank for Mitt Romney, but when the heck did we suddenly love social security? It’s nuts.

We’ve got Karl Rove out denying it is a ponzi scheme solely because he hates Rick Perry. It’s all politics, not principle.

Mitt Romney says that millions of Americans being dependent on government for their retirement is the definition of a successful program. (continued here)

Jeffrey T. Kuhner observes something similar in KUHNER: How the media are dividing Republicans. The media can only divide us if we give them the key. Let’s not forget what we stand for. Let’s not let stupid partisan nonsense divide us. Yeah, we all want our our own guy to win, but we must elect someone who will do the right things for the right reasons.

Read Erickson’s post, Confusion. Then ask yourself this question. How can we depend upon any Republican who says Social Security is a successful program to reverse Obamacare?

What I found particularly irksome was Dick Morris‘ column PERRY WALKS THE THIRD RAIL. In particular, these remarks grated.

Polling shows that Republican primary voters this year are very sophisticated and are much more interested in finding a candidate who can beat Obama than in finding one that suits every bit of their ideological convictions. Hence, Romney’s dalliance with an individual mandate for buying health insurance in Massachusetts does not make him radioactive in the GOP primary. As long as he can win.

Perry could have easily sidestepped the question and distanced himself from his remarks in his book on the subject. He could have said that perhaps he was overly heated in his rhetoric in using the terms “Ponzi scheme” and underscored his support for George W. Bush-style reforms in the system. But, no way. He surged right ahead and embraced his former words. Now he owns them for all time. (from here)

When talking heads like Morris say Social Security is the third rail of politics, what do they mean? They mean that we will electrocute (or shoot) the messenger, the guy who comes to us with the bad news.

So when Rick Perry says Social Security is a Ponzi scheme, are we going to electrocute him? That’s what the talking heads like Morris say we will do. They are always right, aren’t they?

If there were nothing more to it than doing whatever it takes to win, then Morris would be right, but do we really want sidestepping politicians? Perry believes what he wrote, and he is right (see WHEN WILL WE ADMIT WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED?). If just because we don’t like Perry’s message we electrocute him, that does not make the problem go away. We just remove any possibility that other messengers will tell us anything other than what we want to hear.

What is Social Security about? It is a system that allows us wise older folks, people who vote, to be bribed by politicians with money they steal from our children and grandchildren.

Yep! Listen to the talking heads. Us old folks have never had it better, but there are some nagging problems.

• To keep our youngsters gullible enough to pay our ridiculous “entitlements”, we have to let the government (the politicians who bribe us) educate them.
• The same politicians who rob our children and grandchildren on our behalf also rob the entire country. That they do for the benefit of their cronies.
• Our country is going bankrupt.

You want to keep a nice morally sound system like that? Then go ahead. Listen to Dick Morris. Electrocute or shoot Rick Perry.
