Pity me. I get email from Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Pity you. If you come to my blog, I post that nonsense occasionally. Just so you see how stupid this is, I even included the links. We need to understand what we are up against.

Friend –

With the 2012 elections less than a year away, Republicans are relentlessly working to disenfranchise voters nationwide. Up to 5 million voters could be affected with voter suppression laws targeting minorities, seniors, and students around the country.

We will be announcing a major voter protection initiative led by Assistant Leader Jim Clyburn to ensure every American who has the right to vote is able to vote. But we need your help to get going.

We need $100,000 to kick off the DCCC’s Voter Protection Fund. Please contribute $3 or more by Midnight Friday.

Your generous contribution will go directly to our aggressive Voter Protection initiative and send a powerful message to Republicans that we will not allow them to assault voting rights across the country.

Our democracy is at stake. To win the Majority we need Democrats to be able to get out and vote. Frankly, I lose sleep over the possibility that Republicans’ voter suppression could swing the 2012 election. We must fight back against the Republicans’ undemocratic election strategy and show grassroots Democrats are united and stronger than ever.

We need your support to ensure we have the resources for the major voter protection initiative we’ll be announcing led by Assistant Leader Jim Clyburn to ensure every American who has the right to vote is able to vote.

Stand with us by contributing $3 or more right now to help us kick off our Voter Protection Fund.

Thank you,

Rep. Steve Israel
DCCC Chairman

P.S. Republicans are working tirelessly in deliberate and calculated efforts with state governments nationwide to assault Americans’ voting rights. We can’t let them get away with it. Contribute to our Voter Protection Fund today >>

So here is a question for you? What exactly is it that Republicans want to do to suppress the vote? Well, they want to make certain we have the right to vote and only vote once. Google “voter suppression laws”. What is the top article? It is the ACLU with So You Think You Can Vote? What is their complaint? People won’t go to the trouble to properly document their identity.

With identity theft running rampant and people crossing our borders who do not belong here, don’t we all need to be able to prove who we are?

When we get on an airplane, it’s okay for the TSA to invade everyone’s privacy with X-Rays and pat-downs – including little children — but it is too much trouble to get a proper photo ID to vote? If you are a Democrat, I guess it is.

Can you guess which states do not require a Voter ID? Well, here is the current situation, and here (Debate heats up over voter ID laws) is article from USA TODAY.

Keep one thing in mind. Democrats do not want to do Voter ID the right way. They do not want any Voter ID.

Welcome to the world’s newest banana republic. Yes, when required by the Constitution, our president presents Congress with the State of the Union, and that has come to be a once a year speech before Congress. However, no president has ever before had the temerity to abuse his authority by demanding that Congress sit before him and listen to him as he gives a campaign speech.

Did Obama say anything new? No. Has Congress or anyone outside the White House seen his plan? No. As he said himself, it is still in draft.

After years in office Obama has yet to present a jobs plan that works. Will this one be different? Not likely. Obama considers an economic plan rewarding his constituencies with taxpayer funds.

So what did we learn? When a arrogant scoundrel occupies it, it can be mighty hard to respect the office of the president.

via Arlenearmy’s Blog

Is forced unionization constitutional? I suppose that depends upons state law, but there is an obvious question. When government forces employers and employees to unionize, doesn’t that deprive both of their rights? What is the point of having a priviately owned business if nitnoid government bureaucrats and union bosses run the show? Why should employees be forced to pay dues to a union they don’t want to join?

And what about forcing employees to contribute to a political party? What kind of idiot do you have to be to believe that doesn’t deprive the employees of their rights?

This post continues from WHAT PRICE WILL DEMOCRATS PAY FOR VICTORY? — PART 1. In that post we discussed a bit of what The Richmonder has posted. Today we will consider the extent to which The Richmonder represents mainstream Democrats.

Is J.C. Wilmore a Typical Democrat?

Is Wilmore, as Shaun Kenney suggests in his post, Is Left-Wing Violence Merely Goading Republicans?, a mainstream Democrat? Based upon the behavior of mainstream Democrats, I fear that he is. Look at Obamacare. Obamacare is blatantly unconstitutional. To vote for trash like that requires a disdain for the Constitution. In fact, Democrats also showed disdain for the voters. Even when the majority of the public strongly opposed it, they insisted upon ramming Obamacare through Congress.

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, the big three Democrat leaders, have all demonized their opponents.

Pelosi compared members of the Tea Party to Nazis, House Democrat Leaders: Tea Partiers Are Racist, Nazi, Gun Nuts – Weekly Standard.

DEMOCRATS.Senate.gov headlines (here) both Republicans and the Tea Party with this statement.

As Republicans continue their extreme, ideologically-driven push to roll back investments that create jobs and keep us safe, Democrats want to responsibly rein in spending by cutting waste and excess while keeping programs that make America stronger. Democrats want to eliminate $20 billion in giveaways to oil companies that even the former CEO of Shell called “not necessary,” and billions in wasteful Pentagon spending to military contractors. Meanwhile, driven by demands from the Tea Party, Republicans are working to slash the budget for the FBI, cut financial aid for college students, and take cops off the streets. Instead of promoting an extreme agenda and flirting with a government shutdown, Republicans should work with Democrats to find common-sense solutions to get our spending under control and create jobs.

Effectively, this statement calls any Republican who is not a Republican In Name Only (RINO) an extremist. Of course, Democrat have problems cutting the budget. In their minds, they have made taxation and spending so important they cannot keep either from growing out of control. They won’t even pass a budget.

The Obama administration put out this document, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” (see here). This DHS security warning tarred just about anyone who disagreed with the policies of the Obama administration as a potential terrorist.

The Price Of Victory

The Tea Party represents the views of ordinary, hardworking Americans, people appalled by huge and wasteful government budgets — people alarmed by increasing evidence their leaders don’t take their oath to the Constitution seriously. To most people, the Republican Party represents excessive caution, politicians more concerned about getting reelected than anything else. Yet Democrats have demonized both the Tea Party and Republicans to the point of absurdity. Democrats have made themselves sound ridiculous and hysterical. Why?

The civil society requires that we share certain basic principles, principles that require each of us to respect the God-given rights of our fellow citizens. Unfortunately, many members of the Democratic Party seem to believe government gives us our rights. Because of this error, Democrats have discarded the principles of their founders, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

If Democrats believe government gives us our rights, what price will Democrats pay for control of the government? Are Democrats willing to pay any price for victory? We do not know, but how many of us want to war with our fellow Americans?

The heyday of the Democratic Party passed long ago. When Democrats insisted upon supporting slavery, that party shifted from being a blessing to an unaffordable liability. We can only hope that some day that its members will hit the books, study the thoughts and ideas of the Democratic Party’s founders, and begin anew.

This begins part one of a two-part series.

Usually we advised against making generalizations. However, the error is to make a hasty generalization. We must make some generalizations.

The Richmonder

It has been awhile, but I decided to visit The Richmonder yesterday. As usual, J.C. Wilmore had a nasty bit of mischief front and center, Times Dispatch equates Kaine’s concern for American workers with Allen’s racism. Wilmore took umbrage with this editorial, Politics: Macaconsin. He disagreed with possibility that former Gov. Tim Kaine’s prolonged partiality to unions might be a greater liability than former Sen./Gov. George Allen’s macaca moment.

The Skeptical Observer provides a good analysis of this nonsense in Who Is it Who’s “Deranged”? So I suggest everyone read it. I would just add the following observation (heard Rush Limbaugh make it first). Democrat politicians display more loyalty to unions than they do for the general public. Why? Because unions contribute so much money to their campaigns, is it possible these politicians feel they owe their positions to the unions, not the general public?

So why do people like Wilmore rabidly support such politicians? I do not exactly know, but I do find it worrisome when people insist upon portraying people like me or George Allen as the enemy. Here are a couple of examples.

This post, Is Left-Wing Violence Merely Goading Republicans?, at Bearing Drift considers Wilmore’s alarming remarks at Slant Blog. Shaun Kenney poses a question.

So here’s the meme: Republicans are violent. All Republicans, not just a handful. Ergo, that makes it perfectly OK to throw people around, punch, harass, bruise, and otherwise harass Republicans. Don’t use baseball bats (as the gentleman above is clear — that’s violence — just throwing punches isn’t violent behavior), because deep down, Republicans really want to use their guns on you.

Is this the nonsense the mainstream left is convincing themselves of?

This post, The 35-Star Flag, is at Wilmore’s own website. What is this flag about?

The 35-Star flag was the national flag of the United States for nearly two years. It was adopted on July 4, 1863 as the result of the admission of the state of West Virginia into the United States. Coincidentally, July 4, 1863 was the 87th anniversary of the announcement of the Declaration of Independence. Also by coincidence, it was the date of two great Union victories in the American Civil War: the Battle of Gettysburg and the Capture of Vicksburg.

The American Civil War would rage on for nearly two more years, but on April 3, 1865 federal troops occupied the Confederate Capitol of Richmond, Virginia and hoisted the 35-star flag over the burning ruins of what had been the rebel capital city.

By adopting the 35-star version of the American flag as a symbol for his website, Wilmore deliberately insulted the “right wing” and “Tea Baggers.”

The more I thought of it, the more I liked it as a symbol: a flag that served as the symbol of the Union restored, Democracy victorious, the Constitution redeemed, and Liberty spread to those who had been unfree: a perfect answer to the threats embodied in the flags chosen as symbols by the Tea Party. That’s why I’ve added the 35-star flag of the United States to my sidebar: a reminder of the very best this nation stands for and a symbol of defiance against fear.

Whatever else it might accomplish, The Richmonder‘s symbol certainly does an effective job of rubbing Richmond’s nose in a bloody defeat.

Consider the irony. Here is how J.C. portrays himself.

Isn’t that the picture of a cool, calm, sophisticated individual? Yet The Richmonder brims with reflexive hostility, and Wilmore encourages others to adopt that same fearful attitude.

To be Continued: Part 2 will ask the following. Is J.C. Wilmore a Typical Democrat?

Will post Part 2 Wednesday at 12 noon.
