Will God save America? That’s the question thenakedtruth2 considers.

If my people…

When we read the oft quoted text from 2 Chronicles:  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,’ we possibly may be infiltrating a hope which God never intended. Most importantly, it is GOD who is doing the talking here, and not Solomon.  ’I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen THIS place.’  (continued here)

When we read scripture, it is easy to forget something we must not forget. The Bible was written for us, but it was not written to us. Its authors wrote thousands of years ago to people now long dead.

Thus, when  asks us to consider 2 Chronicles 7:14, he reminds us the United States is not even mentioned in Bible prophecy. We can only guess how God will answer our prayers. Therefore, we can only apply the lesson of 2 Chronicles 7:14. We can humble themselves, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways.

  1. Tom-
There is always a level of esteem attached to your reblogs, thanks kindly. I’m guessing you will get a good conversation going, as this text has always been ‘electric.’ There seems to be no middle ground, but as you noted, scripture ‘to’ us and ‘for’ us are a great help with understanding God’s ways and promises.
