E. W. JACKSON TAKES A POSITION ON THE FAMILY

E. W. Jackson  is running for Lt. Governor. That might be a good position for a man like Jackson. He is smart, speaks righteously, but he has relatively little experience in government. I would usually say he has little political experience, but he is a the pastor of a church.

Unlike some, Jackson takes specific positions. What follows is from two of his emails.

In the email below, Jackson speaks out on the controversial effort to pressure the Boy Scouts of America to accept homosexuality as the norm.

SPECIAL ALERT — SAVING THE BOY SCOUTS JAN. 30

My friends, I rarely send out alerts like this, but there are times when extraordinary measures are warranted.

The Boy Scouts are the premier youth organization in America. The Scouts, founded in 1910, have helped millions of boys become men, learning personal responsibility, emulating their leaders and acquiring lifelong skills. They are a bastion of Judeo-Christian morality, which is why they are under severe attack despite winning all their court cases, including a victory recently at the ultra-liberal Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. The bottom line is this: Unless Americans strongly push back, the Scouts national leadership may cave under corporate pressure to allow openly homosexual men and boys into their troops. This would destroy the Scouts, a prime goal of the Left.

Please take a moment and read the USA Today column below about the Boy Scouts by my colleague, Robert Knight, and then take a moment to take action.

Boy Scouts shouldn’t abandon morality

USA TODAY January 28, 2013

By Robert Knight

“Currently, the BSA is discussing potentially removing the national membership restriction regarding sexual orientation,” said a press release on Monday issued by Scouts spokesman Deron Smith. “This would mean there would no longer be any national policy regarding sexual orientation, but that the chartered organizations that oversee and deliver Scouting would accept membership and select leaders consistent with their organization’s mission, principles or religious beliefs. BSA members and parents would be able to choose a local unit which best meets the needs of their families.”

In other words, liberal churches and other organizations that have jumped the shark on sexual morality might be able to allow openly homosexual men and boys into sponsored Scout troops.

This would destroy the Boy Scouts, a bastion of traditional values. Without parental trust, the Boy Scouts, which was founded in 1910 and has been instrumental in helping millions of boys transition to manhood, would implode like a popped balloon.

The policy change would be a real and present danger to the boys, as vividly illustrated by the still-simmering molestation scandal involving priests. As the Vatican works mightily to prevent further incidents, the Boy Scouts seem to be on the verge of going in the other direction.

A 1994 book, Scout’s Honor by investigative reporter Patrick Boyle, revealed 1,800 cases in which Scout leaders had been dismissed for abusing boys. In 2010, a jury awarded $18.5 million to a man abused by a pedophilic Scoutmaster.

Given all this, it’s unfathomable for the Scouts to flirt with the idea of opening their ranks to males attracted to other males. Some of the perpetrators were married, but they obviously had same-sex inclinations.

The timing of this exercise in political correctness is also odd. The Scouts just won a major legal victory in San Diego, where the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals reversed a federal district judge’s 2003 decision to evict them from their camp in Balboa Park in a lawsuit brought by the ACLU on behalf of a lesbian couple and an agnostic couple. Last year, the Scouts released a two-year study concluding that their current leadership and membership policy is the correct one.

The Scout oath requires boys (and leaders) to be morally straight. This needed no explanation in saner times. Putting openly gay men and boys into Scout troops would be a direct violation of that oath. The Scout leadership needs to man up and ignore corporate pressure from within and cultural pressure from without.

They also need to hear an earful from Scout leaders and parents around the country who will not let a betrayal of this magnitude happen on their watch.

You may call BSA national headquarters at several numbers: 972-580-2400 (Try this one first). They are keeping track of the calls. Also: 2401, 2405, 2239, 2443, 2280, 2199.

The vote on this potential change could come as early as next Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Instead forming organization an organization of their own, Socialists Democrats are working to subvert the historic values of the Boy Scouts of America. Allowing openly homosexual scout leaders would be absolutely contrary to Youth Protection policies; it is foolish to pretend otherwise. Fortunately, the Boy Scouts have not yet made a decision, and there is time to act.

Here is an example of the latest news, Texas Gov. Perry says Boy Scouts should keep no-gay policy. If you are a former scout, involved in the Boy Scouts, or expect to be involved with the Boy Scouts, please contact the organization and ask them to maintain their current policy on homosexuality.

Jackson has also spoken out on allowing homeschoolers to participate interscholastic programs run by the public school their parents help to pay for.

E.W. Jackson Calls for Immediate Senate Passage of  the “Tebow Bill” affirming the Rights of Homeschool Parents and Children

February 1st, 2013

Chesapeake, VA –  E.W. Jackson, a Candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, released the following statement of support for HB 1442, the “Tebow Bill”, which passed the Virginia House Vote yesterday and awaits State Senate Approval:

“As the celebration of National School Choice Week continues around our Nation, Virginia has a chance to shine the light of liberty by passing the so called ‘Tebow Bill’. The legislation was approved by the Virginia House on Thursday and is now before the State Senate. The Governor has already announced he will sign it.

“This bill recognizes the fact that parents who choose the legal and commendable option of homeschooling their children are taxpayers and citizens. They should enjoy the benefit of the tax money they have contributed to education in the Commonwealth by having the right, should they choose, of having their children participate in interscholastic programs, including sports.

“All parents are taxpayers. Some choose to extend their teaching mission outside of the home through the public school system and some choose to educate their children in the home. After all, the family is the first schoolhouse.

“Homeschooled children in our Commonwealth are excelling on every measurable front. To deny them the right to participate in sports or other interscholastic activity is unfair and unjustly limits their ability to engage with their peers as well as hinder their ability to further their education and development.

“We must remember that ‘public’ means what common sense and the dictionary implies, ‘concerning the people as a whole’. Homeschool parents and their children are members of the public. They are our neighbors. They are citizens and taxpayers. HB 1442, the “Tebow Bill”, is only fair and should be passed by the Virginia Senate.”

The bill will not pass this year. The “honorable” men and women in the Virginia Senate did something cute. Our good Senators referred HB 1442 to a committee that meets on Thursdays. This coming Tuesday is crossover, a legislative mid-session deadline. Any bill not passed by next Tuesday dies automatically. If you enjoy such sneaky shenanigans from people who think your are an idiot, just keep voting for people who promise to give you something for nothing.
