DON’T FORGET TO REMIND GOVERNOR MCDONNELL TO SIGN THAT BILL

For the time being the General Assembly is not in session (see here). Thus, it seems Delegate Bob Marshall has a little more time to write.

Dear Friends,

Please see Washington Post press coverage on my legal memo on constitutionality of HB 1160.

Here is an excerpt with a link to the full article. Plus, here you will find a legal analysis done by Herb Titus.

“Del. Marshall, again, urges McDonnell to sign detention bill
By Anita Kumar

As legislators await word on whether Gov. Bob McDonnell will sign, amend or veto their bills before his Monday deadline, Del. Bob Marshall is leaving nothing to chance. Marshall (R-PrinceWilliam), who is running for U.S. Senate, sent McDonnell (R) an 11-page memo analyzing legal aspects of his bill that would ban state employees — including the Virginia National Guard and State Police — from assisting in the federal detention of U.S. citizens without criminal charges or court hearings.”

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Bob
