 Connollynomics: Record Number of Homes Foreclosed in August

Connolly’s Economic Policies Continue to Cost Jobs, Weaken Economy

Fairfax, VA – Keith Fimian, Republican candidate for Congress (VA-11) issued the following statement today in response to more bad economic news.  

“Congressman Connolly continues to insist the economy is getting better, but all the evidence proves otherwise,” Fimian said.  “With today’s news that foreclosures hit a record high in August and recent news that unemployment climbed to 9.6 percent in August, it is clear that Gerry Connolly’s economic policies are the problem, not the solution.”

Banks foreclosed more than 96,000 homes in August.  Foreclosure rates increased 3 percent in August and 25 percent over the last year.  

“The real problem is that career politicians like Congressman Connolly are out-of-touch with families and small businesses in Northern Virginia,” Fimian said.  “Politicians think a family making $150,000, just middle class around here, is doing fine.  But if they are upside down in their mortgage, that’s a big worry.  If their health care premiums jump 20 percent every year, that’s a big worry.  If their retirement investments lost 25 percent in the last two years, that’s a big worry.”

“The uncertain atmosphere Washington is creating is a huge worry for families and it is hurting our economy,” Fimian added.  “Congressman Connolly’s policies fuel that uncertainty.  More taxes and more spending is not what Northern Virginians want, and it is not the answer to our economic woes.”

Is it really that hard to figure why our economy is reeling? When our government is taxing and spending like there is no tomorrow, what else should we expect? When politicians try to run businesses instead of regulating them, why should we expect them to succeed? Has President Barack Obama ever run a business? Has Gerald E. ”Gerry” Connolly given us any reason to believe he can run our health care system? Why would we want to trust these clowns with so much power?

Do you want to straighten out the economy? Do you want to keep your freedom? Then let’s clean out the social engineers, the egomaniacs who refuse to abide by the Constitution. This coming November we can replace Connolly. In 2012, we can replace Obama and Democratic Senator Jim Webb. And in 2014 we can replace Democratic Senator Mark Warner.
