TWO PIECES OF NOT UNEXPECTED BAD NEWS

Here is the source, Elena Kagan approved by Senate Judiciary Committee in 13-6 vote.

The second piece of news?

Democratic and Republican senators alike lamented the increasingly sharp partisan divide over the Constitution and the courts Tuesday, and then divided mostly along party lines to approve Elena Kagan, President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court.

The lone maverick was Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who voted to confirm Kagan because, he said, she is smart, well-qualified and of good character.

“But yes, she’s liberal,” he said and paused. “Sort of expected that, actually.”

We need to know our enemies. And yes, Graham is an enemy. When a senator approves someone to be a judge, we should have confidence that that senator will not approve someone we know will abuse their authority. Because the Democrats wear their party label and that party stands for a “living Constitution,” we know the type of judges they will appoint. Graham, unfortunately, is a Republican. Graham is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Thus, the good citizens of South Carolina must remember Graham is in disguise. When next they vote for someone to serve in the office Graham now dishonors, the citizens of South Carolina must search for someone more honorable to serve as their senator.

Unfortunately, Lindsey “Amnesty” Graham doesn’t come up for re-election until 2012. We in South Carolina sure do wish we could oust him out in the next election. But from what I’ve heard, many folks from our area, his hometown, are going to try our best to make sure he’s unemployed in his next try for office.

Actually, As far as I’m concerned, most of the Republicans in office right now, as well as 99.9% of the Democrats should be tried for perjury because they lied when they swore to uphold the Constitution. No where in the swearing in does it say anything like; ” But I keep the option to change provisions of the Constitution I don’t agree with, so help me God”.

The sad thing is that we put these people into office. So we have no one to blame save ourselves. Our worse enemy is that guy we examine ever so carefully in the mirror — and still call a good person.

Every people gets the leadership it deserves. We can and do say we deserve better, but that is nonsense. When we will not hold ourselves to high standards –when we demand things from government we have not earned — how can we hold our leaders accountable?

Unfortunately Tom, you’re too right. Although some of us do vote our conscience, it still doesn’t do any good.
