I just came back from the Dale City Independence Day Parade. We had a good turnout. Everything was well organized. The weather was great. People did not mind waiting and chatting, and when we actually started marching, the crowd was in a jovial mood and happy to see us.
Our local politicians turned out. In addition to Keith Fimian; Marty Nohe, Lisa Bell, and Gerry Connolly had “floats.” Some others may also have had floats, but when you walk in the parade, it is hard to see everything. Bell’s float was especially hard to miss. Unfortunately, when I saw it, I was not thinking pictures (afraid I am not much of a photo bug). Others seen at the parade include:
- Delegate Rich Anderson
- Delegate Jackson Miller
- Brentsville District School Board Member Gill Trenum
I walked with the PWCGOP contingent. Keith Fimian‘s fans, and the Prince William Republican Women’s Club followed behind us. Here are some photos. As usual, I used my cell phone camera. So I suppose there is no danger anyone will get confused and think this is a photo blog. Note that I took the photos at the start, well before the crowds start lining the street.
With its nice, new banner, the PWCGOP made certain everyone knew we are Republicans.
A bullhorn provided a nice way to broadcast jingles.
The favorite.
“Voting for Gerry can be scary.”
Captain America carried the American Flag.
When this flag passed by, people stood and saluted.
As well they should. Because it is our symbol of national unity, our flag deserves respect.
Carrying a flag that big is also hard work. By parade’s end, the gentleman carrying it was soaked in sweat.
Amongst its pictures, InsideNoVA.com has a good picture (#8 here) of the gentleman waving the flag. In the InsideNoVA.com, the Marine flag stands out.
The gentlemen carrying Keith Fimian’s banner displayed it proudly.
Fimian made certain people would remember his name in November.

The ladies had their own banner.

And treated the crowd with a cute convertible.

Great pictures and a great turn out. We all care and want to do our share to take it all back by 2012. Our battles have just begun, but every man, woman, and child is needed. One phone call, one door knock, and one parade at a time.We need to let our neighbors know their vote and actions do count just like every soldier that fought in the Revolutionary War, one step at a time. No one did it alone. Fight on and God Bless America!
Pass it on- “A Vote for Gerry is Just Too Scary”
Thanks for the correction on the jingle.
