Here are several items excerpted from the July 9th edition of Senator Ken Cuccinelli‘s Cuccinelli Compass.
Heller Party!Okay, the final details for our Heller party are here. I hope all of you that support the 2nd Amendment will trek to Richmond to join us for some good discussion, fellowship and celebration! There is NO COST to attend (yes, for all of who are as frugal as I am, that means free).Next Saturday, July 19th4PM – 6PM (or however long folks stick around)Fuddruckers – meeting room inside8205 W Broad Street (Intersection of Broad & Parham)
Richmond, VA 23294
RSVP to Mick Bransfield at (703) 766-0635 or Mick@Cuccinelli.com. Also, we still need more sponsors, so please email us if you’re willing to donate to sponsor this event. Sponsorships start at $100 (then $200, then $500, above $500 you get to name your price).
We’ll have a couple of knowledgeable speakers to address the good stuff in Heller and the more dangerous portions. and after we talk about the legal ruling, we’ll talk about the politics of the decision.
I hope we’ll see you there!
On a separate note, for those of you that are willing to volunteer to man tables and do outreach at your local gun shows, please email us at KC4AG@Cuccinelli.com and let us know that you’ll either volunteer or – even better – you’ll recruit/manage volunteers at your local gun shows. We have gotten a great reaction for years at our local show, and we’d love to get to your area too – but we need your help to do that! Please sign up to help us get out our solid record on the 2nd Amendment and help us recruit voters! Email today (please)!
Funny Invitation
First of all, a bit of history. Bob FitzSimmonds ran the most successful GOP campaign against Senator Chuck Colgan that anyone has ever run. He got a higher vote percentage and a higher vote count than anyone else has every gotten against Chuck Colgan in over 30 years.
If it isn’t obvious, Bob ran as a conservative Republican.
So, with that background, Bob brought to my attention the following invitation that he recently received. look closely.
Yes, that’s right, Creigh Deeds thinks that Bob FitzSimmonds (spelled wrong on the invite) beat Sen. Chuck Colgan! I wonder if Chuck knows?
I’d love to know what lists they’re mailing.
Tax Bills – Ugh.
Later today the House will vote on HB 6055, the regional tax package advanced by House Republicans. In the interest of there being no uncertainty over my position, I wanted to let each of you know that I intend to vote ‘no’ on the bill if it makes it to the Senate floor.
It remains to be seen what will happen today, but if you’re reading this before 1 p.m. (session start time), I suggest dropping your Delegate and Senator a quick line to remind them that the price hike for gasoline alone has forced you to cut back on every other part of your budget and shift it to transportation. Then you might suggest that it’s about time that your government moved its money from the other parts of its budget to transportation too!
If you didn’t already know it, you can find your legislators at http://legis.state.va.us/. Please drop them a note – quickly!
