I guess there are at least two ways to look at email. First there is from the receiver's viewpoint. Is the email pertinent and concise? I think Bob Marshall is generally to the point, and he talks about weighty political issues. He does not send stuff out often, and he does not make a lot of requests for money. So I do not consider being put on his email list a problem.

How does Marshall decide who to put on his email list? I can only guess, but I doubt that he is especially selective. Email is not costly. So it is a cheap way to campaign. The big problem is getting a decent list of email addresses. If you are a constituent, I do not know any reason why Marshall would not add you to his list.

Even though you do not belong to the Republican Party, you are a political activist. There are bound to be some issues where you and Marshall see eye-to-eye. Tell him that when he is working on those issues you want to lend your support.

LOL! No I don't want spam from Bob Marshall.

Someone told me if people think you are in a different political party, the "other" party won't send you information because they perceive it as a waste of time. Therefore, no, I don't usually ask specific politicians to email me because I'm not in any party so poof...little information other than what I get from auto emails I sign up for.

Other than Senator Colgan (who sent me two letters within a short period of time), I've not heard much from anyone in Richmond even after I have emailed them. I've had a bit more success with the BOCS, probably because I've aggravated them so much.

I don't give money to campaigns. So I guess that counts me out as far as the Richmond folks are concerned.

kgotthardt - Do you want Bob Marshall to spam people?

I made my email address and my political interests known to Bob Marshall. I am a member of the Republican party. I have emailed Bob Marshall. I have given him campaign contributions. One way or the other, Bob Marshall has my email address, and I have not asked to be removed from his list. Does he have your email address? Have you asked Bob Marshall to email you?

How come I didn't get an email from Bob Marshall?

I'm always curious how party members selectively contact people without having been contacted first. It leaves people like me in the dust---I'm issue-based, not party based. On some issues, I sound left, and on some, I sound right, and others, I am in the middle.

Politicians should try to convince me to vote their way regardless of party. I will make up my mind based on my own thought process. Come on. I'm up to the task. Why aren't they?
