I do not mean to suggest that everyone has an obligation to participate in a political party.  As you point out, there is more than one way to accomplish our political objectives.   

We each in fact have an obligation to do what we believe is right.  We also should use our talents in the way we believe is  most effective.   How political parties figure into what we do is something each of us must decide individually.]]></description>

I don&#039;t dispute the rights for parties to exist, nor do I think they are ineffective (as they have proven).  However, what about grassroots organizations and issue-based groups having the power to sway government and public opinion? There is something so attractive and meaningful about people united for a cause and not a party which can get cumbersome and trip over its own political feet.
