When I write about bvbl.net, I write about one of my least favorite subjects. I suppose there is nothing to done, however, except to grin and bear it. Without having seen a bad example, how can one know the value of a good example?
Because of its notoriety, bvbl.net has spawned an ANTI-BVBL. What is scary is that ANTI-BVBL may end up being quite effective. Consider this post. ANTI-BVBL provides a nice little video where Supervisor Corey Stewart back peddles double time to distance himself from guess who.
Since I want Prince William County’s efforts to encourage illegal immigrants to leave the county succeed, I do not enjoy seeing Stewart in this situation. I encourage Stewart and other Republicans to be more careful in their choice of associates.
I will readily concede most illegal immigrants are nice people, but when they cross the border illegally, they create problems. The cost of the public services they use raises my taxes. Because they sneak across the border, they are not checked for disease, and too many of them are criminals. There are host of practical problems with illegal immigrants that have nothing to do with racism or bigotry. Yet because racism and bigotry are real, advocates for controlling illegal immigration must be careful. If we want to secure our borders and to stop employers from hiring illegal immigrants, the people we choose to lead the movement must have sterling reputations. Otherwise, those profiting off illegal immigrants will have no trouble thwarting our efforts.

The problem is, it’s the bigots that call the most attention to themselves. We don’t hear win/win solutions from that side of the camp. The conversation becomes destructive instead of constructive. And we all lose as a result because the policies that are put in place are punitive towards foreigners.
I like your writing style.
