This year, more perhaps than in any election in memory, the Democratic Party seems to be about victimhood. Which candidate best represents the poor, the downtrodden, the oppressed, the victims? Do the Democrats want the candidate who best reflects our aspirations for freedom or the candidate who most feels our pain?
Here we have a post that “elevates” Hillary Clinton as the foremost victim advocate.
I wonder how many people know the percentage of women who are raped and/or victims of domestic violence during their lifetimes? 1 in 3 women will be victims of sexual assault during their lifetimes. Women in some countries are still treated as property.
Women have had to fight for the right to vote, own property, and a lot of other rights men took for granted and still do. You can say a lot of things about Hillary Clinton, but you can’t say she hasn’t been an advocate for women and children her entire life. (from here)
Consider the criteria you use when you vote. Do you pick the candidate who most understands and shares your problems or the candidate who best understands how to do the job you are electing him or her to do?

Talk about spin! My piece has nothing to do with “victimhood”! I was talking about gender bias, how obvious it is in the race, and how I’m sick of it. For once, a woman is running for president of the U.S., and I’m sick to death of hearing about pantsuits, cackling, shrillness, hairstyles, and how she’s crying or emotional.
If the press used Obama’s race against him, there would be national outrage. But gender discrimination is A-okay.
Well, ENOUGH. That’s all I’m asking for. A little decency and sensativity towards women for a change. Is that so much to ask?
Teri, I believe you are confusing religion with politics. Under our political system, we cannot make the liberal news media demonstrate a little decency or sensativity towards anyone. Republicans have been asking for such consideration for years without effect. Apparently such behavior towards Republicans would violate the free expression of conscious (religious beliefs) of the liberal news media. Making the news media publish nice stories about Republicans would violate freedom of the press.
So Republicans have given up expecting a respectful hearing from the news media. In fact, McCain used nasty articles about him in the New York Times as a fundraising device. How else would anyone know he is a Republican?
Because the press coverage a candidate receives can be so biased, that is why campaign finance reform is such a crock. Nonetheless, all three of our presidential candidates either have or would vote for such nonsense. So it is that I consider watching Clinton and Obama take turns complaining how the news media is picking on them great fun.
So have at it. Let the world know how they are picking on Hillary more than Barack or John. You will have my sincere sympathy.
