ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE ON THE LEGACY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING

world.pngSome get upset over whether or not we should celebrate Martin Luther King Day. I do not. At the time we were deciding this issue, I grumped and got mildly annoyed. However, I realized we celebrating a man’s legacy, not human perfection. I felt the issue is what we decide to do about civil rights. Would we resolve race issues with “affirmative action,” or, as King suggested, allow the content of each person’s character to carry the day?

The argument continues even today. In fact, because this year’s presidential campaign, the argument is intense. In that vein, Two Conservatives has an interesting post (here) contrasting King’s teachings and the presidential campaign of Barack Obama.
