Senator Colgan:
I was distressed when a supporter handed me a copy of the pro-choice mailer from you today. You and the Democratic Party parody my pro-life position and call it “horrific”. You note that my “anti choice views give us no choice but to vote NO on Bob FitzSimmonds”.
Up until now I believed you to be pro-life based on your own assertions. Are you so desperate to win that you will put children at risk or have you actually abandoned your former position? Please either state your new pro-choice position or renounce these deceptive ads.
If this mailer does in fact represent a new position for you, I would ask you to at least fact check your sources. The bill referenced, Del. Marshall’s bill HB2797, does not do the things you claim it does and was introduced in 2007, when I was no longer working at the General Assembly. You do a disservice not only to me, but to Del. Marshall when you misconstrue his important work.

P.S. This is the latest salvo in a TV, call, and mail campaign that has gone on for multiple weeks, so please do not pretend that this is something that you don’t know about or are not approving simply because your disclaimer is not on the mail piece.

Tom, I haven’t received that mailer for some reason. What is their “citation” for their claim? I see a “2″ next to it, which suggests they have a “source”.
Also, does the mailing say authorised by Colgan? I noticed the DPVA is running a TV ad with the same false claims, but it specifically says it was NOT authorized by the candidate.
Or, if you can figure out how to scan the entire flyer, you could e-mail it to me or post it here.
The DPVA has been behind almost every false ad put out. They don’t care about the truth anymore, they will do anything to get power back. I’m used to misleading claims in flyers, and half-truths, but I’ve never seen so many outright lies published by a political party. IT’s like they don’t think they will get caught, or don’t care because if they win it won’t matter that they lied.
