GOOD! IT WILL BE A CONVENTION

elephantgop.pngAs Too Conservative has already (here) reported via Not Larry Sabato, Republicans will nominate their 2008 Senate candidate via a convention. Here is what the AP had to say about it.

Too Conservative, as one might expect, is reacting defensively. Not Larry Sabato melodramatically tells us “THE DAVIS MACHINE HAS OFFICIALLY FALLEN APART AND IS HEADED TO A GARAGE NEAR YOU”.

As it gives the party the opportunity to select its own candidate, this choice of a convention is a positive development. The current favorite is Jim Gilmore, and he would be a good choice. However, it is still possible other qualified candidates may offer themselves for our consideration. If so, we should be grateful and humbled that such people are willing to serve. Without such choices, we cannot have a republic.

We owe it to God and country to pick the best candidate we can. Let’s not let intra-party squabbles and hurt feelings get in the way.
