I Collect Blogs: Visiting The Daily Whackjob

vablogs2.pngSome people collect coins. Some people jump out perfectly good airplanes. Others read books. We all find ways to accumulate life experiences. These days, I spend more time than is probably healthy sitting in front of my home PC experiencing the blogosphere.

The Daily Whackjob supplied the thrills for my latest escapade. Since The Daily Whackjob is listed on BlogNetNews, I have had occasion to see their feed, visit, and comment. However, one of the comments I left on this post produced a pleasant surprise. That comment became the central feature of their next post.

While I have yet to become as familiar with the The Daily Whackjob as I am with some other good blogs, I expect that will change. Whatever else one wants to say about the The Daily Whackjob, the denizens of that blog seem to enjoy debate and manage to debate without engaging in personal attacks. For example, because a picture her child (here), Whackette decided to do a post on abortion. Amazingly, although the opinions expressed diverged considerably, the tone remained civil. Considering the subject, I was somewhat surprised.

A brief perusal indicates that The Daily Whackjob does have and follow a style guide. In addition to the fact the posters don’t seem to take themselves too seriously, perhaps that style guide helps to explain the good manners. Undoubtedly, I should observe and try to understand their secret.
